The hotel is centrally placed in Beauly and the staff are very nice and helpful. It is a bit confusing navigating the hotel on first acquaintance and more signs could help!

The owners were very friendly and easy to work with. The breakfast inculded was really good. For a simple room and the price this is a good place for a family looking to budget while on travel. Not the cleanest hotel I have stayed in and not very modern. But I would use them again.

The owner of the hotel was very nice and friendly. Breakfast was tasty and filling. It has been mentioned in other reviews, but I will repeat it here. The entryway and area immediately above it in the hotel have a very strong, very unpleasant odour. The odour did not spill over into my room or the hallway outside, and it seemed the owners were trying to air out the place by keeping doors open at appropriate times, but it was nonetheless quite unpleasant. And as a side note, the bar areas of the hotel appear to no longer be open to the public.

We felt at home the minute we walked in the door. I only wish we had more time to have stayed on and visited with the owners. Very enlightening about the highlands and made 4 weary travelers from Canada feel like we were staying with family!!

Friendliness off staff. Owners of the hotel are very helpfull with finding excursions etc. Cleaning could be done better (example: vacuumcleaning of room could be done each day). Staff seem not to understand that guest wants towels put on the ground of the bathroom to be replaced. It is very difficult to open or close the window of the room. There is no shelf between the mirror and the washbassin in the bathroom.

Such a "homely" feel made by the staff were well able to accommodate their guests. The breakfast was particularly excellent, freshly prepared, serving organic sausages / bacon. The owners do manage some pets which at times can be housebound which have that additional "home like" feel about this hotel.

The Caley is legendary in the Highlands but it will not suit everyone. If you depend on corporate anonymity, a sterile, bland environment and an absence of dogs and parrots, you won't like it. At all. If you want total immersion in the kind of traditional, Highland hospitality that has disappeared almost everywhere else, try it. My daughter described the decor as 'shabby chic' but I doubt there's anything intentional about it. Kind, friendly proprietors, cheap bar prices, great breakfasts, clean sheets and towels. Oh, and music in the lounge as often as not. Check out Blazin' Fiddles' cd 'Upstairs at the Caley' for more...

An absolutely pleasant cozy family hotel, located in old but good- looking building. The interior of the room was very nice, and the location is brilliant for staying when traveling to North of Scotland (20 minutes driving from Inverness and Loch Ness). The breakfast was quite rich and tasty.

The accommodation was basic (it was like going back in time with the decor) but clean. The owner, Iain Campbell, made me feel very welcome and gave me advice on my next day's cycling. If you want to experience traditional Scottish accommodation this is it - the locals sat around the upstairs bar on a night and I enjoyed the banter. Downstairs in the public bar there was an accordian player playing for a time. Had a good hearty breakfast in the morning to set me on my way.

Everything went a little bit different than expected during our 3-day stay, but it's the nicest hotel with the nicest owners we've ever visited! Our dogs were more than welcome. We will come back here, 10 out of 10!!!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. It seems to me that the hotel is in the process of closing down so it was a bit lacking in atmosphere.

Our host was a most engaging gentleman and kept us well-entertained with his stories, family anecdotes and insights as we breakfasted. We were able to park our car directly in front of the hotel, The hotel had an air of neglect about it: the corridors and rooms were dark, the decor was faded and the plumbing could do with an overhaul.
