Located in the Sussex countryside near the historic town of Rye, Flackley Ash is a delightful Georgian country house with an award-winning restaurant, a bar and spa facilities.
Score from 178 reviews Good
This mid-18th century former inn offers unique rooms, free Wi-Fi, and excellent views of Rye. Good food is served in the restaurant.
Score from 170 reviews Fabulous
Designed as a traditional barn, The Lodge at Winchelsea is located between Rye and Hastings, 1.5 miles from Winchelsea Beach. It offers a bistro-style restaurant and modern bedrooms with free Wi-Fi.
Score from 299 reviews Very good
As a group of 10 we had a fabulous break. The staff were friendly, the food was very plentiful and tasty. Our children in the party thoroughly enjoyed all on offer. We also found seating the restaurant very accessible.
Restaurant temperature too high. Staffing numbers quite low in most facilities. Making waiting times a tad bit longer than needed. May benefit from a little canopy or shelter outside swimming pool for people waiting as it makes the wait a little more bearable.
The all day entertainment for the kids
Dated ...old style chalets a.... A bit hi de hi and a general lack of cleanliness in the bars and pubs and toilets etc
Location to all sea side areas Parks for kids
Parking - a nightmare. Not enough spaces. Room - could be cleaner, and the sofa bed is so uncomfortable. Pool - dirty, and would recommend not to use it. Soft play area - dirty, and we'll understaffed Arcade - machines didn't like taking money, or they didn't work. Again, well understaffed. Kitchen in room - cooker rusty, one plug for 3 appliances, and lack of utensils.
Entertainment was good,close to beach
Toilets stunk made me heave I the entertainment block. Quite noisy could do with a football park for the kids. Had go ask got a clean duvet . Would be nice to have had a shower bath, sink, toilet had seen better days.
Entertainment in the evening
Pool was very over crowded to the point if not being safe. Room was filthy my daughter was on her hands n knees washing the floor. Poor facilities uncomfortable beds.
swiming pool kids entertainment.
payment for extras
bad smells, dirty mouldy rooms, disgusting language from other customers, having to pay to use lifts, having to pay for electric, lack of parking spaces, no light in the bedroom, front door did not close properly, the list could go on and on and on .............
Location - just because cleae to the seaside.
If you wont pay attention to all those families with loads of children then you will be "supriesed" by the rooms... Never ever will go there again... Even with children!
It's close to the beach
Everything. A dirty, cheap place I will never return to. We had food poisoning, the accommodation was disgusting. The venue was dated and in poor shape. A all round shocking holiday camp
Children's facilities and entertainment was okay kids enjoyed it
Chalets scruffy and dirty old quilts most uncomfortable beds ever slept in the floor was very very dirty when we walked in the chalet . The toilets in the clubs stank and not cleaned regular will not be returning until improved
Close to the beach Lots of children's play areas Pub
Amenities need updating Chalet felt dirty (but actually wasn't!)
Meals on site very good, clubs were a good size, we had a good stay
Parking very poor,Iam a blue badge holder had to park a fair distance from chalet
The beach and that's because it had nothing to do with pontins.
The dirty toilets, nothing for the children to watch in the evening that was exciting. The fact you have to pay for all the little activities in the resort! Would not return and would put people off going. No satisfied at all.
Worst night sleep ever, sofabed from nightmare
the beach the surrounding towns relaxing
pontins entertainment area no air conditioning so was impossible to stay and enjoy the entertainment on offer the food was expensive for what they served
Paying for the "street pedalo" & not being able to have a refund when told there was a 2 hour quque for it.
The beach was only good point... beautiful a d a stone throw away
Was dirty un organised and the staff were totally out of touch with children. Apartments were filthy tiny telly and looked awlful from outside too
Really shabby accommodation - filthy noisy dated.
The chalet was very basic, the kitchenette had only one plug socket for the kettle, toaster and microwave, the shower cubicle door didn't close,we were kept awake till 3am in the morning on both nights.iam sorry to say not worth the money.
Great location to spend time on Camber Sands. We opted not to use any of the Pontins facilities other than the childrens play ground which our little one loved. Lots of kids playing together out the front of the chalets, which was really nice.
Poorly equipped kitchen, mainly lacked crockery and a few other essentials such as a bottle opener. We had a one bedroom classic appartment with a sofa bed. It was uneven and would tip over if one person laid on the wrong side and want very comfortable to sleep on. Also the bedding provided was awful, cheap sheets/duvet and pillow cases well used duvets and pillows. We did request some clean pillows and a double duvet (as there wasn't one) which were promptly brought to our chalet. I'd definitely recommend taking your own bedding as well as your own bath towels and tea towels. I'd also take my own provisions if you can fit them in your case.
Beach was beautiful
The baby area was filthy and the food was awful!!
The facilities for children was good
The filthy room. The stained quilts. The kids rides being plugged on all night, keeping us awake, the fact we had a baby and had to stay on the first floor, lugging a push chair up a flight of stairs at least 3 times a day was no joke especially as my husband broke his back 3 years ago.you should have advise us on this at the time of booking. Also got bitten and my granddaughter in the dirty beds.
Everything. This place is out-dated, worn, messy, unclean, over priced. A wasted journey. We left after the first night. They charged us £89 per night, room only, and then expected us to pay extra for our electric!! Pffft! I recommend you look at many other places before you consider staying here. The beach, in a tent would be better.
Love pontoons all over perfect for family
Check in not until 4pm and room still not cleaned. No bed linen or towels
