This is our second stay at camelia and will definitely be returning Staff are excellent and nothing is too much trouble It's out of the hustle and bustle of southend We took our bikes and cycled all along the beachfront and no hills! Highly recommended
Our bed was a little uncomfortable, that was all
The hotel was great. We had a wonderful time there and would totally recommend this hotel.
There was a small amount of noise but that is to be expected as Southend is a busy place.
The Breakfast was excellent and the staff were polite and courteous.
The Heating in the room was too high....not able to turn it down....very uncomfortable
Staff were very friendly Room was very clean and spacious. Location was excellent and views were amazing.
Well run hotel, good location looking over seafront with parking at the rear Room was nicely decorated and well equipped also free WiFi which is important to so any people these days ! Dining room was also very good as was the food and friendly service Would not hesitate to book this hotel again if we were visiting the area
Staff, food, cleanliness, parking facilities
Room 29 had a problem with the water pressure making it difficult to adjust the shower to a comfortable temperature.
Welcoming to cyclists and provided safe keeping for the bikes. Everything clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Small bar on site was very convenient to relax for that last drink of the day.
Running the gauntlet of smokers out front to get to reception.
Room was homely with plenty of storage. Large bathroom. One of the better rooms I have stayed in. The staff for the breakfast were very helpful and can't fault them at all.
Even though the room was fine we overlooked the car park and a side garden but we weren't there for the view.
Lovely hotel room really clean and well equiped staff very helpful excellent beakfast
The location is good, the staff are polite and friendly overall. No burning issues.
So far there wasn't a lot around to choose from to have a like are dislikes, but I was satisfied with what was on offer.
The staff were very very Friendly and helpful. The hotel is really nice and pretty clean.
Room, Breakfast, Views, Service, Location.
Car parking at rear, rubbish laying around.
Definitely exceeded my expectations. Staff were courteous, friendly and polite, accommodation was well appointed, recently refurbished and tasteful. There was a good menu to choose from for the evening meal and breakfast which were good value for money. All in all really pleasantly surprised and look forward to staying again.
Nothing negative to say about my stay.
Very helpful staff, excellent breakfast, free upgrade on room requested, very comfortable and spacious. Waterbed amusing but gave a comfortable night sleep. Never heard anyone else when in the bedroom. Very good beach restaurant over the road from the hotel.
Shower curtain in bath for shower was it bit old fashioned, but shower perfect good otehrwise.
The staff were polite and gave and excellent service,we really enjoyed our stay and would come again,it had good parking and close by to the main area
We had the sea view room 14,brilliant room but poor WIFI other than that it was good
Everything it was a loverly hotel had everything and nothing was too muchx
We were impressed by how helpful all the staff were. Food excellent and very good breakfast. Very comfortable bed and a very good shower. Excellent standard of cleanliness. Would certainly recommend to others.
Relaxed atmosphere, good food, attentive staff, good location
The welcome by the staff was excellent, the hotel is decorated to a high standard and very clean. The room we had was superb, clean, bright, modern and spacious with a fantastic view of the sea. The bed was very comfortable and we had a fantastic nights sleep. Service at breakfast was excellent and the food was great and the hotel were very accommodating when we needed to leave our bags there after checkout time! Would definitely go back again and again.
The welcome sea view and balcony made my stay at The Camelia a relaxing and happy one. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, the accommodation was clean and comfortable. I was surprised how much I liked Southend; sure some parts are definitely rough around the edges but for a short break you'll enjoy the coastal walks, ice-cream and fish & chips. It's unpretentious which is really quite refreshing.
The High Street could definitely do with a scrub. (But I suppose you don't go to Southend to go High Street shopping really.)
Very nice small hotel with ample (public) parking at the rear. Good breakfast, I didn't use the restaurant but friends told me that it's good. Good sea views from the front of the hotel.
A little far from Southend (0.75 miles)
Liked being able to see the sea.
Didn't appreciate the first floor it was more like a second. Window opened in to a very very small double room! The door did not open at all. So... in theory we could not take in the sea air by having a balcony. Not enough pace for an adult and small child to manoeuvre.
The staff were very efficient, friendly and helpful. My needs were more than catered for. The rooms were clean and well laid out.
Poor disabled access; There was a ramp at the front of the building but for ground floor accomodation at the side entrance a person still had to be able to jump a step which was not suitable for wheelchair access and difficult if on crutches.
My father in law and partner stayed for one night prior to going off in a cruise from Tilbury. Their view was it was an excellent choice for them.
Food and friendly staff, nice food.we enjoyed our stay.
The standard room we booked was on the 2nd floor i am disabled and climbing the stairs was a bit too much. however the staff arranged for another room on the ground floor. The first room was somewhat small but the second room was a bit more spacious.
