Could not get onto internet and shower did not work.
The owner Jim and his staff went the extra mile to make sure our stay was enjoyable. It is these personal touches that steers me away from corporate hotel chains to places like this. If I am ever in the area again I would definitely book here. Cheers to Jim!
My own fault that I didn't rent a car _ it is rather remote!
Very good staff at breakfast
Water came through my ceiling in two different areas. My stay was queried even though my booking form clearly stated I was booked in until Friday
Cannot rate the quality [& quantity !] of food too highly, as with the kindness & friendliness of the staff. THIS is how a good Hotel/Pub SHOULD be run ! Highly recommended !!
Shower controls v.difficult but understand this will be rectified shortly.
Very good value, because of breakfast and facilities in rooms (tea, coffee etc) The breakfast was very good. Rooms were clean and roomy for single rooms. For a weekend stay is very good.
The entrance hall was very off-putting as needs a new carpet or maybe tiled. The property seems to be in need of up dating a bit more. Service at breakfast was a bit slow as think there wasn't enough staff when a large group came in. If this hadn't been the case, it would have been fine.
The manager was very rude and made offensive comments regarding a christian event that was taking place locally. The room was 'grubby'. I would not attempt to stay at this place again.
Friendly staff, lovely room, good breakfast, near to where I wanted to be.
Road noise! At its worst on Thursday night. I guess all the lorrys ALL NIGHT where trying to get home for the weekend. Ear plugs didn't get rid of it.
Clean, single en-suite room at reasonable price. Good coffee
No marmalade for breakfast and breakfast was inconsistent e.g not always mushrooms and variety of eggs ( scrambled/poached ) not always available.
I liked the buffet style breakfast and having my eggs and toast cooked to order! Location was good for Bath and West showground.
My room was at the front of the hotel and was incredibly noisy. I had seven nights of interrupted sleep due to the traffic and in particular lorries going past on the A37.It was so noisy that I found it difficult to hear the tv. There was no hairdryer- luckily I bought my own, no wardrobe and no fire instructions displayed in the room.
Manager was helpful
I've put a complimentary report on the hotel's website.
Manager and staff very helpful especially with meals which were excellent. Position of hotel ideal for many local attractions and price was fine.
Everything ok - no problems.
Very friendly welcome from Staff rooms basic but value for money Food served in bar is very nice
The pillows could do with replacing as they are very flat & uncomfortable (just a petty little point realy)
The staff were friendly and helpful. Very welcoming. The room was spacious, well lit, well decorated and comfortable.
No complaints at all loved it all
Very friendly and helpful owner and staff. Comfortable, clean and spacious room. Ideal location for Wells and Glastonbury.
Some of the decoration and furnishings were a little shabby but at this price who's complaining!
Very friendly. Helpful cheerful. Only problem i found there was not a easy chair in the single bedroom. Saying that i would stay again.
Nothing i can think off
good location excellent food friendly and polite staff
thin walls...lots of workman leaving early in the morning made sleeping tough could hear people talking/coughing etc. in rooms bed was quite hard
Room a good size and clean but basic. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food good. Good for the cost.
On busy road but was quiet at night. Floorboards outside room and upstairs very noisy. Thin walls - Could hear people in the bar downstairs. I had a leak in my ceiling from the room above. The staff were very quick to respond and offered a different room.
I really liked the staff and the owner. The owner was a very nice man, friendly and helpful. This property is exactly as advertised, excellent value for money and in a good location. When I return to this area again I will definitely stay in Cannards well.
enjoyed my stay
bed was too hard
Welcoming and friendly staff (and dog!).
Being a larger lady, I was unable to get into the shower cubicle
We arrived tired and hungry and were met by the owner and manager who were superb. Our room was upgraded and we were offered a complimentary carvery. The food was delicious, one of the best roasts we've ever had. The hotel is comfortable and tidy, but if you want good food and excellent service you should book in,we will when we are next back in Shepton Mallett.
Breakfast was good, staff on the whole were very helpful
Arrived late on a Friday night to find that there was no twin room available as booked from my two sons. staff were sympathetic and organised an additional room for one of them. The following night the 3rd room was unavailable so a 'put me up' bed was installed in their room! the only reason we booked this venue was because it was the only one available with both a double and twin room as required. The carpet in our double room was poorly fitted. there was trim hanging off the skirting. The bathroom was in desperate need or a revamp - a little dirty. toilet roll was supplied but was the cheapest form available. No keys were available (coded entry into each room).
The Room was Damp , the Window would not shut the bathroom door would not shut .The room needed redecorating .The hall way leading to the bedroom smelt like a gents urinal . The Breakfast was cold , 20minute delay in getting any eggs , toast arrived 15 mins after breakfast was finished and still waiting for the marmalade . We booked for 2 nights and only stayed one , no apology or offer of a refund. the type of hotel that gives booking . com a bad name
value for money, welcoming staff
