Location and room quality was good. Booking process not reliable as I called ahead of processing the booking to check I could take my dog and the owner had no notice of this and also charged an extra £5.

The attitude of the owner, wanting to know what time we wanted breakfast and what we wanted to eat for breakfast before we had even been shown to our room.

We actually stayed at Craigholm at the recommendation of the owner. We were disappointed with the breakfast as the sausages were tasteless, the coffee was terrible and there was no brown bread or marmalade. The whit toast was made from the very cheapest bread and was like cardboard. Also credit card payments were charged an additional 3 per cent, debit cards 2per cent and cheques were not accepted. we therefore had no choice but to pay cash. See comments above

Friendliness and helpfulness of the owner. Comfortable room and good adequate breakfast. Would use this guesthouse again. Unfortunately we didn't spend much time in the guest house as we were attending a wedding so really only slept there one night and had breakfast.

The owners of the house were very friendly and helpful. We had a small problem with our car as we arrived. The owner of the Canter Holm offered a help.Together with my husband they have managed to fix the problem very quickly. It saved us going to a nearby garage on Saturday morning! Many thanks for this!!! It was a real pleasure staying at Canter Holm, we will come back again!!!

We liked the large rooms and old style of victorian house. Also the location was on a tree lined road and was in a quiet neighbourhood We had to contact the manageress by phone when we arrived, so it was a good thing that we had a mobile phone with us. She had to come from five minutes away to let us in, which we thought was strange. We had a friendly welcome and the were asked what we wanted for breakfast the next morning. As it was then 3 o clock in the afternoon, we thought that was a little odd too. The room was what we had asked for and was nicely fitted out, but the en-suite was hidden away in what we thought was a wardrobe and was very tiny.

Nice guest house, good cooked breakfasts. Room was small, the en-suite was an odd layout with the basin in the room. The access to the shower cabinet was very narrow, it was a squeeze for anyone above a size 12!

Very clean and tidy. Didn't notice when booking that the bathroom was not ensuite or I would not have booked it.The bathroom was spotlessly clean but was down another flight of stairs bit tricky at night.Wouldn't have minded sharing a bath or shower but would prefer ensuite toilet when staying as a family. Also bit cold at night could have done with a bit more heat in the bedroom.

Clean & friendly I was misled into thinking it was an hotel but it was only a b&b, as I was on a business trip I needed at least a work surface for laptop etc. I had to hunch over a small dresser. I could not get my choice of breakfast on the second morning as I was apparently required to order breakfast the night before. There is no facility to accept credit or debit cards and I was unable to obtain a receipt for payment without forwarding an e-mail - I would have thought that business would have at least a cash receipt book which can be purchased from any good stationer for a couple of pounds. On recommendations I would imagine this b&b would be fine for a visit other than business
