Within Canterbury’s historic city walls, Abode Canterbury is just 300 metres from Canterbury Cathedral.
Score from 617 reviews Very good
A delightful old pub close to the city centre and its many tourist attractions. The ruins of the ancient water mill (hence Miller's Arms) on the River Stour remain alongside the pub.

location in heart of city - no car necessary views of cathedral quality of fittings quiet dining area breakfast
no bath shower wet room grill needed a thorough cleaning
Loved coming in thru the big doors late night from downtown. Great security. Our price included the cathedral entrance.
Beware of the bells in the AM if you want to sleep late. Also rooms are not sound proof, you can hear the rooms next door. Beside that, Loved it.
the location is stunning and the hotel is quite comfortable, indeed.
make sure that you arrange the parking in advance. the entrance to the parking is indeed hard to find.
Position, how clean and how friendly staff were and very helpful
Proximity to the cathedral and town. The staff are extremely helpful and welcoming. The design of the hotel building is beautiful. The gardens are stunning.
Room was a little cramped for two. The bathroom suite was a little tired.
Staff very polite keen and helpful. Breakfast was a pleasure and there was plenty of choice. Location is as central as it gets. You're inside the cathedral grounds! Parking if available is perfect. There are plenty of car parks nearby too.
My basic room had no shower, however I expect the other rooms did. Worth asking about when booking.
I cannot imagine a more pleasant way to visit Canterbury. Terrific location, especially when it's raining. One is close to everything. Thank you for gracious hospitality.
Friendly staff, excellent location
Room overlooked the city and there was a lot of disturbance late into the night from people in the streets. Room was too warm to close the windows so noise was a problem.
A nice hotel, very well situated, wonderful breakfast
A 50 GBP cleaning fee was too much and was not mention during the reservation through booking.com
Excellent location! A charming hotel right on the cathedral grounds which gives the whole stay a unique twist. It's right next to Canterbury high street. The rooms are big with great views of the cathedral with nice comfortable beds. Breakfast is cooked to order and included.
Great location. Lovely room, view of cathedral. Good hearty breakfast. Arrived about 2ish. Able to park very close (in cathedral grounds). Room was ready.Twin beds. Lovely window seat. Wanted a guided tour of cathedral but not available on Sundays. Had an audio guide, but only because the guy felt sorry for us, normally close the guide store by 2pm he said.
Shame they didn't have a restaurant on the Sunday night, but we had a nice meal in town instead. Slight confusion about how to get back into the cathedral grounds late at night (you have to ring the bell for the security guard to let you in - and you need your card to prove you are a paying guest).
Having stayed in many different hotels in our time,we found this to be like a retreat. It was wonderful to enter the grounds of the Cathedral to peace and quiet and no noise from the outside. The experience of the Hotel and staff was excellent from start to finish and we could have easily stayed for longer. Will definitely go back.
There is nothing that we could fault with the staff and hotel, only that our stay went too quickly.
Great location, polite and helpful staff, beautifully cooked breakfast, nice toiletries in room.
Fantastic location right in the Cathedral grounds. Free entry to the Cathedral included in the price Quiet, peaceful and exceptionally secure. Step out of the grounds into the central heart of the City. Staff all warm and welcoming. Great breakfast. Unique and Unbeatable.
Bit difficult to find the first time by car but follow the separate instructions they give you and ASK people. When you've done it once you'll wonder why you found it difficult the first time! Guess it was driving down streets which felt fully pedestrianised that was disorientating.
Proximity to cathedral Beautiful garden Lovely breakfast Helpful staff I visited with my elderly mother and the staff were very helpful
An amazing place to stay - right in the grounds of the Cathedral - with free unlimited access to the Cathedral as well. Very attentive and helpful staff. All of Canterbury's restaurants, bars and shops nearby.
The quiet location.
Pillows were a little hard.
Superb location Comfortable rooms Great service Breakfast very good Excellent value for money
What an amazing location, so beautiful to look at the cathedral from the room window at night. The staff were exceptional, especially at breakfast - and what a lovely breakfast.Really convenient to have parking on-site too.
Quite difficult to find how to access the site/parking
The Lodge was clean and well organised. The staff were friendly and helpful in every way. It is so convenient for both the Cathedral and the City, and the excellent standard of the accommodation meant that our stay was relaxed, enjoyable and memorable for all the right reasons!
The location just in front of the Cathedral of Canterbury. The views over the Cathedral and the wonderful atmosphere you can feel inside the Precincts.
It's not well indicated how to get to the accommodation so I had to ask twice. You have to re-login into the wifi about each hour or so.
The room was clean, the breakfast on offer was ample, the setting within the Cathedral grounds was lovely. The staff were very helpful & friendly as well.
No sign-posts outside meant quite some time wasted driving round the block several times and eventually parking to search on foot for the way in. It was not clear that parking was by prior arrangement only - we were lucky that the gate guard helped us find one, and the night entrance again wasn't clearly signposted. Our room was right next to reception so we had some noise issues with guests going in/out and staff standing chatting at the front desk.
Everything - most of all the location, literally walking out the front door into one of the most world's most beautiful cathedral precincts. Very friendly, well run, excellent breakfast, perfectly appointed and immaculately clean room and bath. If coming by car and you manage to book on-site parking with the hotel, be sure to read the directions very carefully, as the parking gate is otherwise hard to find.
