LOCATION IS GREAT
CONFUSION ON PARKING AND YOU CAN HEAR THE PIPEWORK
Clean, calm with excellent staff. The hotel rooms have a simple , practical beauty with views of the Cathedral that made me cry.
We had a cathedral view from our living room. The apartment's bedrooms were very spacious and comfortable. The rooms were very clean and the kitchen was equipped, the maid service was nice and unexpected too. Breakfast was fantastic, very tasty and lots to choose from. Staff very helpful and location fantastic, you certainly feel like a VIP coming throught the cathedral gate at night after a lovely meal out. Only a few minutes walk from all the lovely restaurants and pubs.
Free wifi was non existent - none of us could log on. No DVD player which would have been nice. The flat was incredibly hot when we arrived and radiators hot even though they weren't turned on, there must have been a problem as there was no hot water either for the first night/next day of our stay and we were advised a plumber was working on the boiler.
The breakfast was amazing!! The bed was comfortable. Security was good. Access to the cathedral at quieter times. Staff helpful.
The room was like a sauna even with all the windows open, I think the radiator was broken in the bathroom as it was blasting out maximum heat when turned off. The bed although comfortable was a very small double and when sharing with a body builder not quite big enough.
not the first time I have stayed here. First and foremost proximity to the Cathedral as I was researching in the Archives for 3 days. The staff at the Lodge were very friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable with a great view of the Cathedral (despite the scaffolding lol!). Breakfast - good choice of continental and cooked food too. Well done everyone.
Location within Cathedral grounds. Peace and calm throughout the whole Hotel. Staff always willing to 'go the extra mile'.
Very convenient location, right in the centre and in the precincts of the cathedral
The liquid soap container used in the shower on the first night remained there throughout our stay and wasn't replaced either.
The rooms are very comfortable and could not fault the cleanliness. The rooms look out over the cathedral for which there is free access. Enjoyed my stay
The location of the hotel was great with lovely views of the cathedral and easy access to the high street etc.
The room was on the small side which wasn't too much of a problem but the bed, although a double seemed very small. Fine for one small person but too small for two ordinary sized people!
Breakfast was delicious and room was just perfect. Warm, great views and so central
We weren't clearly told that there would be only one way to enter and exit the grounds at night. It made it very difficult to get to the car when we forgot something.
We arrived at the hotel after a five hour drive, the staff were very polite/ friendly, we were travelling with two teenage daughters and wanted the rooms near each other.this was sorted quickly and without fuss. The hotel is in a perfect location, we liked everything about it. Including the fabulous Veggie breakfast. Our daughter is at the University for another two years, we will be using this hotel often.
the Cathedral setting was stunning and had a good view from our room. The breakfast was excellent and cooked to order.
the bed was very uncomfortable.
The location is a real winner. We enjoyed being able to walk around the precinct. Our apartment wasn't billed as having a view, but it still did! Would recommend this as a place to stay; we thought it was good value.
The only slight downside was that the wall of our bedroom was rather thin. But that didn't bother us unduly.
The reception I received from the staff, and the outstanding quality of the food - its freshness, its cleanliness and its presentation. I loved the location of course and also the quality of the building.
I caught my finger in the door latch on the third floor of the accommodation - the space between the latch and the side is very small; the layout of the room could be improved I am sure.
Location is brilliant, views are beautiful and it was a perfect stay. Breakfast was delicious and everything was locally sourced.
Had to wait for breakfast as there wasn't enough seats but it was well worth the wait
Beautiful hotel, amazing surroundings, excellent staff.
No room service or gym/pool.
Lovely, friendly, helpful staff. Good location, breakfast was well cooked, varied and tasty.
Rooms sightly small.
Location and room
The view and the bed !
It had a peaceful n restful feel to it not like your normal bust hotels. The staff were there to make your stay a wonderful experience nothing was too much
Location to cathedral and town centre, ease of booking and breakfast excellent. Recommend go for room with view it was a lovely sight at night. Having cathedral pass included is excellent value and enabled us to take our time and be relaxed about exploring all the chapels, and building.
Pretty much everything. The staff were friendly, helpful, welcoming and efficient. The room was perfectly comfortable and well appointed with a fabulous view. The breakfast (and staff) was 5 star quality.
Very helpful and clear instructions from the receptionist to find the hotel - quite complicated around the one way system. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Eggs Benedict for breakfast well cooked.
The room was up two flights of stairs - not a problem for us, but could be an issue for guests with accessibility requirements.
Location can not be bettered. Staff were friendly and knowlegable. Room was in the annexe next to the main building, and although small, has character and all of the necessary amenities. Far better than their own description of 'no frills'.
The only negative was a general problem with the plumbing which meant there was no hot water one morning. This was fixed by the evening.
