Within Canterbury’s historic city walls, Abode Canterbury is just 300 metres from Canterbury Cathedral.
Score from 583 reviews Very good
Just metres from Canterbury’s medieval West Gate, this charming building dates back to 1403. A former coaching inn, it offers free Wi-Fi and free parking, 2 minutes’ walk from the city centre.
Score from 950 reviews Very good
A delightful old pub close to the city centre and its many tourist attractions. The ruins of the ancient water mill (hence Miller's Arms) on the River Stour remain alongside the pub.
Score from 260 reviews Fabulous
Situated within the Roman city walls of historic Canterbury’s centre, this family-run hotel dates back to the 16th century. It offers free Wi-Fi, an à la carte restaurant, and a cosy, oak-beamed bar.
Score from 435 reviews Very good
Great location, polite and helpful staff, beautifully cooked breakfast, nice toiletries in room.
Fantastic location right in the Cathedral grounds. Free entry to the Cathedral included in the price Quiet, peaceful and exceptionally secure. Step out of the grounds into the central heart of the City. Staff all warm and welcoming. Great breakfast. Unique and Unbeatable.
Bit difficult to find the first time by car but follow the separate instructions they give you and ASK people. When you've done it once you'll wonder why you found it difficult the first time! Guess it was driving down streets which felt fully pedestrianised that was disorientating.
Proximity to cathedral Beautiful garden Lovely breakfast Helpful staff I visited with my elderly mother and the staff were very helpful
An amazing place to stay - right in the grounds of the Cathedral - with free unlimited access to the Cathedral as well. Very attentive and helpful staff. All of Canterbury's restaurants, bars and shops nearby.
The quiet location.
Pillows were a little hard.
Superb location Comfortable rooms Great service Breakfast very good Excellent value for money
What an amazing location, so beautiful to look at the cathedral from the room window at night. The staff were exceptional, especially at breakfast - and what a lovely breakfast.Really convenient to have parking on-site too.
Quite difficult to find how to access the site/parking
The Lodge was clean and well organised. The staff were friendly and helpful in every way. It is so convenient for both the Cathedral and the City, and the excellent standard of the accommodation meant that our stay was relaxed, enjoyable and memorable for all the right reasons!
Everything - most of all the location, literally walking out the front door into one of the most world's most beautiful cathedral precincts. Very friendly, well run, excellent breakfast, perfectly appointed and immaculately clean room and bath. If coming by car and you manage to book on-site parking with the hotel, be sure to read the directions very carefully, as the parking gate is otherwise hard to find.
The view and cathedral access
It was wonderful to be in the precinct and to be able to spend time in the Cathedral before the crowds arrived.
Only downside was that the room was fairly small and the double bed was rather short.
Problem with shower water temperature.
The location and view The staff attitude The ability to walk the grounds
Nothing during our stay was in any way disappointing
The view of the cathedral and the sounds of the bells. Location is great, central to the city so easy to settle in and enjoy the sights and places.
Our visit was over too quickly!
Excellent hotel Staff very helpful Good breakfast
Very difficult to find- would be helpful to know access was through a lane just next to a prominent Canterbury pub
Superb location, very good breakfast, friendly and helpful staff
Room and bed on the small side
The location was amazing. The view of the cathedral from our room was spectacular! The staff could not be more helpful and our breakfast was a proper treat. We will certainly return.
What's not to like?
Pretty much everything. Highly professional, helpful and courteous staff. Lovely rooms and excellent location.
A little hard to find the entrance to the cathedral grounds. Directions need to state that you turn sharp right, immediately after Cathedral Cafe, through the narrow ornate archway and the 'rising bollard' will go down automatically as you approach it. We were not sure that we should use that entrance and so drove past it twice looking for another!
The location is wonderful.
Rather noise: we enjoyed the TV next room until late in the night.
Location excellent central to town Good views of cathedral On site parking Staff very friendly and helpful Good quality breakfast
Bed not particularly comfortable Parking should be free
Location, breakfast, room presentation, customer focused staff.
The noise of slamming doors and guests from wedding celebration
the staff, the location, the breakfast, the cleanliness of the room
It was very very hot and we only had one small fan - didn't sleep very well and so didn't enjoy our stay as much as we had hoped.
Unbeatable location on the grounds of the cathedral; comfortable rooms and very good breakfast
