Lovely Breakfast - Very nice omelette & mini danish pastries. Free Wifi - A steady connection.
Dirty Bathroom - Smelt & Shower was disgusting. Room - Small, old and worn decor. Noisy outside and from the corridor. Hotel Decor - Tired and Dated (Excluding the Bar/Restaurant).
Dirt, dust and smells. Electric lights and plugs not working. Fan in bathroom not working. No glasses in bathroom. Having to access bedroom via emergency stairs which stank! Lack of mature staff on site. Matress well worn and needs replaced. Poor housekeeping. Very difficult to be positive about this hotel.Would not stay here again. It needs a serious make over. "The Hotel Inspector" would have a real challenge here.
Room was very small, lack of decent lighting, could not read! Tv remote needs looking at. Fan in bathroom was extremely noisy !
Breakfast was very good, liked the dining area. Bedrooms were a good size. Shower very powerful! Beds very comfortable. Plenty of parking spaces.
Bedroom carpet had an iron mark. Paintwork unfinished on skirting board.
Close location to where I was visiting Great breakfast!
The write up said the rooms had been refurbished - not sure that applied to the one I stayed in Could have done with redecorating and cleaner
The staff were very welcoming, even when we returned from a party at 3am! The room was bright and airy, nice comfy bed and minimal road/rail noise. 2 minutes walk from the station and 5-10 minutes from shops/bars/etc. For £70 we would definitely stay again.
location for business
faded needs serious upgrade expensive
Perfect location for visit to family who live near by. Room good and lovely breakfast.
no fuss. fantastic breakfast. warm & comfortable room. really helpful staff. lots of on site parking
nearby railway noise...next to a railway line so is expected. bedroom was very plain & boxy.
Warm welcome. Good breakfast. Good bathroom.
Train noise leading to opinion of location. Felt the room was overpriced.
Check out was bit confusing for reception they need to have it clear that it has been charge by booking . Com
A warm welcome and nice staff
Could do with a deep clean. It was clean ish. Tiles in the bathroom needed a deep clean and around the edges of the room and stairways needed cleaning.
The staff were friendly enough.
The matress was old sweeky and lumpy. The shower head didn't work properly. The hotel smelt fusty. You are not aloud your own key to come in and out as you please After 1am you have to ring and wake someone up. Which makes you feel guilty. We were ignored at breakfast. Wasn't informed if breakfast was included. Poor value for money
Water not very hot and fixtures dated.
Lovely lady who works there.
It was a little worn.
Cantley Lodge was not available to us as their chef was getting married on the Saturday of our stay. They rang me and up graded us to their sister Hotel with no extra cost.
The location was very nice and the staff were very efficient.
Very helpful and friendly staff When they found out my husband was going to have trouble with stairs they moved us down to a lower floor. Also would have helped me with luggage.
The over heated rooms and bedrooms too much
Loved the staff.
The staff were friendly and helpful and the general overall impression was of a very well run establishment
Free WiFi. Spacious car park
Tired hotel needs a makeover Over priced at £95.00. Train noise quite audible in the room I was in.
Staff were fine and helpful
The room needed to be refurbished.
Freezing cold room and bathroom, unhealthy English breakfast, no soundproofing.
clean & comfortable
a few little things didn't work
Location fairly comfortable bed clean staff were helpful and friendly when you found them good parking!
no atmosphere (horrible, bright dining/bar area - very clinical and unwelcoming) staff were scarce and always busy a bit overpriced compared with similar small hotels
A pleasant place to stay, the staff are friendly and it is nice to be able to sit in the attractive bar area.
In need of renovation and some rooms near the railway line are a bit noisy if you are a light sleeper
