Only one share bathroom per floor.
Nice, clean rooms, comfortable beds, very clean shared bathroom.
Noise from the pub downstairs was really bad.
- excellent value for money - good conditions - very clean
- bed was somehow not most comfortable
The cleanliness and friendliness was unexpected for the price. The restaurant was a treasure, the food was excellent.
Great staff, friendly & food was fantastic! Really good value for the room as you don't even need a taxi to get to the port..easy walking distance. Comfy room…
Little bit noisy….but location you expect that
Very clean, very smart, modern facilities, great food and drink. Comfy bed and great prices. Would stay again anytime.
I was on my return from England and wanted to spend the night in Harwich so I'd be able to board the ferry in the morning. Since I had no car but much luggage I needed a reasonably-prized place to stay in a short walking distance, and this just was it. I had no need for anything more sophisticated than a secure room you can lock up and a bed with clean sheets, and would have considered all these extras you'd get in a more expensive hotel as unnecessary stuff to push up the price (although I enjoyed having a TV). Plus it is a well-maintained pub with good food and drink, so I didn't have to walk miles and miles to get that. I can't comment on the WiFi since I didn't use it, but I appreciated it was there. What else? The whole place is in perfect condition, especially the spacious, well-equipped and very clean bathrooms, and this added a great deal to an enjoyable, comfortable stay. In other words: The Captain Fryatt Guesthouse offers everything you could wish for as a ferry traveller at a good, reasonable price. It'll always be my first choice if I should happen to pass through Harwich International Port again.
There was a hazardous step on the way between my room and the bathroom that made me trip up just about every time I went there, and the place is not exactly barrier-free. You just get that in old houses, and, being a young man, I didn't actually mind. However I cannot recommend it to the infirm and elderly without this little word of warning.
Exceptionally clean, comfortable bed, great new bathrooms, big screen TV, reliable wifi. Indian restaurant serves great food. Price is very reasonable. Good location to visit places like Sutton Hoo, and Orford Ness.
Couldn't fault this place.
Very clean comfortable an exactly what we needed.. A few minor finishing bits would have made it an excellent.. Shower was awesome!! Staff were friendly other famy stayed in different rooms we all have the same opinion.. Was a good stay and will defo go back!
Nothing really!! All good
We received what we were told we would receive. Conveniently located and quiet. Good value for the price. Personnel were very friendly and helpful.
The only thing I didn't like was to have to go to the bar to check in.
nice rooms clean friendly staff
walk the steps with luggage to get to room....
Clean, cheap and friendly. Excellent location for riding the North Sea Cycle route. The Indian Street restaurant round the back was great. Food, price and service was very good. Secure garden to lock up bicycles. Four parking spaces round the back as well as plenty of on street parking.
Little bit noisy at night with music playing from cars in the near vicinity. The Wi-Fi was very poor.
Room and bathroom are new and clean. So as the towels and bed sheets etc. It was only 10 min walk from the ferry terminal with a suit case.
Wifi was not strong... but it was ok.
Clean, comfortable. Really nice bathroom. Indian Restaurant downstairs has fantastic food. Walk to port and grocery store.
The location The room, decor and cleanliness The staff Friendly locals
Lack of Tea and Coffee facilites Lack of bedside lamp Indian Room the only option Only continental breakfast option Noise could be a problem from the bar
Good off street parking, friendly and homely feel, well decorated and comfortable room.
Very handy for the port only 5 minutes away. Nice restaurant with friendly staff.
Not on-suite I should have checked so my fault.
Thanks Kristina & Emma & all Staff who made my stay enjoyable. You couldn't ask for better. A good clean room at front of house, comfortable bed, clean linen & towels, wardrobe for clothes & dressing table. All the locals were friendly & mixing with other guests of all nationalities in the bar was very entertaining
One or two hickups when plumbing went into overdrive one night, but this was sorted out immediately in the morning.
The bed was very comfy struggled to get out every morning ,shower was all brand new ,clean ,can't rate this enough.
We stayed in the 'superior cottage' and it was a nice building with lots of room over two floors with two bathrooms, which was ideal as there were 6 of us, four adults, a 2 year old and a 6 year old. The bathrooms were beautiful and a very nice shower. Everything was clean and tidy. No fuss check in and check out.
The continental breakfast offered was way overpriced. At £5.00 per head compared to what was on offer, it was not value for money at all. Wait and find a cafe or something so you won't be disappointed.
Great staff Good quality Indian restaurant attached Convenient
Small quibble in that although a good breakfast was available at an inexpensive £5, coffee and tea facilties in the room would be a good addition.
It was very clean
cottage was in back of pub.
As we were sailing from Harwich, the place was very convenient. For what we paid, we were very impressed. The whole place was beautifully clean and well appointed and the staff excellent. The continental breakfast was good and the food in the adjoining Indian restaurant superb.
Though the shared bathroom was immaculate, we would have happily paid more for an en suite. Other than that, we had absolutely no complaints. The area is not one we would choose for a longer holiday, but generally the guests all appear to stay for just one night before taking a cruise or ferry.
Location close to ferry port and railway station. Pub with good bar for a last drink.
No en-suite toilet and shower room. Only continental breakfast available.
