The welcome The lovely warm/cosy room The indian resturant nearby The breakfast
Liked it all
On arrival was made very welcome, as if I was the only Guest staying there. Hotel is spotlessly clean with comfortable rooms. I didn't use it but had the opportunity to use their secure parking. Excellent breakfast, you certain;ly won't go hungry. I would definately stay at the Captain's Lodge again.
Room was clean comfortable and warm what more could you ask for on a day and night that produced torrential rain and high winds, however, I would guess that on a sunny warm day the place would be hard to beat.
Despite arriving an hour and a half before time of availability,(because I had not read the small print properly!) Kathy made us very welcome.
everything was satisfactory and would highly recommend it to anyone
we had no complaints at all
Loved the location which is right on the beach promenade. We had a wonderful sea view. The room was absolutely beautiful with a four poster bed and seating area in the bay window. We had a very comfortable night and everything we needed. Kath was a wonderful host and cook and made our stay relaxed and enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble and we really enjoyed talking to her over breakfast. She offered advice on where to eat and had menus for the local restaurants ready in the room. We will definitely stay again.
We loved the location - it's right by the sea. Cathy was really friendly and went out of her way to make us feel very hospitable.
Room decoration charming and very crisp and clean. Cathy very welcoming and friendly, breakfast excellent.
Were told entry 4-4.30pm - rather later than most establishments and had to hang about on a windy cold day.
We stayed 3 nights celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, The room was tastefully decorated and very clean. The food was excellent with a very tasty and filling breakfast. Above all the we were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. A great base for exploring Northumberland
Breakfast , nice room , very helpful landlady

Everything was perfect. Clean room, delicious breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful
Everything - Cath & Billy are excellent hosts from the friendly welcome on arrival along with the high standard of service given, nothing was to much trouble, from arrival - through light conversations over breakfasts - till the goodbye wave at the car on our departure. Thank you for enhancing our visit to the NE:-)
Nothing to dislike.
it was brill , ideal for us to meet our friends who live close by
Lovely host who couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable.
Lack of places to eat during the evening.
lovely view of the beach from bedroom window. A very clean property, and Kathy was very welcoming.
There was nothing to dislike.
Captains lodge was in an excellent location with stunning views. The owner could not do enough to help you enjoy your stay.
Great, Great, Great, my stay at Captains Lodge was all that l could have asked for. Very clean, good breakfast, 2nd day l had to ask for a smaller breakfast as it was to much, would stay again and recommend to friends.
Not expecting too much from Newbiggen I was pleasantly surprised by this beachside village and delighted by the location and facilities of Captains Lodge. Situated right on the beach front esplanade and within 5 minutes walk to shops, pubs and restaurants, Captains Lodge had everything we needed for a very enjoyable stay. There was secure off street car accommodation and the room we had was on the first floor with a bay window looking over the beach and bay. The room was spacious and had two comfortable chairs to sit and admire the view and hear the sound of the waves. The ensuite was modern and the four poster bed comfortable. The host was fantastic and the breakfast was extensive.
The accommodation was great, as was the view from our room.
The location of the town was not what we expected for a seaside town, a bit quiet and dowdy.
Excellent location for my work for the following day. Room suitable for one person with double bed, FreeView TV and drinks facilities. It wasn't en-suite but the shower and toilet facilities we're only a few yards down the corridor and they were not shared. Wifi worked brilliantly and was free. Breakfast was included in my price of £45 so I thought that was value. Beautiful view over the bay. Handy for local shops. Kathy the owner makes sure you have everything you need. Best to let Kathy know what time you are arriving as she will help make sure your car parking arrangement is best for when you leave.
We stayed 2 nights celebrating our wedding anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, The room was tastefully decorated and very clean. The food was excellent with a very tasty and filling breakfast. Above all the we were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble.
