The location is nice The receptionist who checked me out was quite un-friendly and had a general bad attitude. I'm from the same area and I know that people are normally much more warm and friendly.

Room was a good size and the staff were friendly and helpful. Use of local produce and choice of food at breakfast. Plenty of hot water. Pillows too small and probably needed to be replaced. Breakfast portions could have been a bit more generous - the toast seems to have been rationed. Having to pay a supplement for things like smoked salmon is annoying and quite frankly something I have come to expect from British hotels.

Very friendly staff, well run hotel. The hotel building lacks atmosphere and the bar areas are rather cramped. The spa facilities are quite basic.

We only stayed one night but dinner and breakfast were the best we have experienced in a long time. The hotel was busy but it remained quiet and peaceful in the room and walking nearby was lovely. Would certainly return in the summer to experience warmer conditions and see the local country houses and gardens.

We stayed for 3 nights over the New Year. Our room was extremely comfortable with excellent seating. Large Bathroom with spacious shower and bath. THe service was overall excellent. The restaurant served good food, not fine dining, but well cooked and reasonable value. They catered for my gluten free diet both at breakfast and dinner without any problem. Despite the fact the hotel was full and that there was a new year's ball the room was quiet. We went for a couple of lovely walks in the vicinity. I would highly recommend the hotel

My husband and I needed a relaxing break and that was what we had. Our room was very comfortable with a lovely view. Although their was a party for a large group on one night of our stay the staff had ensured that we were located away from them and never heard a thing. No buffet available at breakfast one morning because there were only a few having breakfast in the dinning room. A wee bit disappointed, felt a bit neglected.

Staff extremely professional and helpful. Hotel beautifully situated. Food superb and well presented with good service. Room spacious with large comfortable bed. Would have liked free WiFi connection. Requested upper floor facing rear of hotel but was allocated reception level floor facing front - but still a very pleasant outlook and room, and not worth complaining about. TV a bit old and unreliable.

“From the moment we arrived at the Horshoe Inn we felt welcome. Friendly and helpfull staff greeted us, and we were shown to a small but delightfull room. Clean and well equipted with the whitest fluffiest duvet ever. We ate in the Bistro and the food was exceptional, so much better than we had expected considering they also have a restaurant. The owner mingles with the guests, and the staff couldn't be more attentive. Breakfast was superb, so all in all somewhere we will certainly visit again when in the area, in fact we would probably go out of our way to visit again. So good to find a gem like this. Thank you to The Horshoe for making a night on our journey home so enjoyable.” Anne, Sunderland |
