Location and spa Food in main restaurant precious and pretentious.More fat than meat on the duck breast starter I had then to want a £12 surcharge for a six once fillet steak, ridiculous. However I had a good meal in the Thai rest. The £20 surcharge per person for the Hydro pool is also ridiculous. Standard of cleaning of rooms not what it should be, and helpfulness of rececption staff sometimes not good. They should take a lesson form the young, foreign porter who went to see if our room was ready (which it was) when the receptionist couldn,t be bothered to do so.

Careys Manor was a very relaxing short stay for us, although a bit pricey (£900 for absolutely everything for two people for two nights). There was plenty of food and drink, pool, sauna's, steam rooms, hydrotherepy and massage. We did have a few minor issues that the hotel need to address. Broken and loose toilet seat, mirror screw caps missing leaving sharp edges exposed, heated towel rail not working, bathroom shelf loose on wall and the bathroom door didn't latch shut (if the patio doors were open the bathroom door would blow open). Also the main walkways in the hotel need washing and not just vacuuming. Just a few minor issues.

Loved the relaxing room off the bar to sit in before and after dinner by a log fire. Plenty of reading material to enjoy. Great bar staff. Excellent house wines. Good choice of great tasting wine in the Thai restaurant too (a first for a Thai restaurant in my experience!) Probably the worst Thai restaurant that we have been to both for quality of food and value for money. Service pleasant but waiter did not know how to open a bottle of wine - seriously! Poor breakfast for an expensive hotel. Would be nice to have been asked whether we would like an alternative to the buffet when brought tea and coffee. Staff in breakfast room gave every impression of being too busy to provide service. Buffet experience: Mediocre, luke warm food on cold plates.

Sumptuous, plush, relaxing, romantic ...perfect. Went for smallest double and worried it may be poky but it was lovely. Highly recommended. Spa is lovely...part of package. We're going to upgrade to thermal spa but the main spa was lovely and relaxing. Wish I could have afforded a treatment but they are very pricy. Having said that everything was excellent value so I guess the treatments would have been good value. For money if I could have stretched to it.

The staff and location were both excellent. I was dissappointed with the quality of the beds. The springs had gone in the room we had (room 93). We also had very noisy guests next to us for the first evening and unfortunately I did not feel well rested. The room also had feather pillows however I requested that these be changed to non-feather and the staff were excellent in accomodating us.

A garden double room ( room 79 ) consisted of two single beds close together I thought this was a bit misleading. Frank garrett

Quality hotel in the heart of the New Forest with a relaxed atmosphere. Loved the French bistro. Although advertised as a family hotel children under 16 are not allowed to use the swimming pool.

Lovely staff esp. Receptionists. Fab massage. Pool / sauna / loungers with magazines - perfect. Best Thai food I have ever eaten. I had a drink in the lounge on my own and felt totally at ease. Long, long corridor! Room decor a bit dated. Service erratic - perhaps because there was a wedding on? I felt a bit lost finding the spa and working out where things were - maybe because I haven't been to a spa before?

Very professional, polite and warming. Staff were a great asset to the hotel they really wanted us to enjoy our stay. The atmosphere was a comfortable break from the stress of the outside world. Only one minor thing beer at £4.50 for half a pint. We found this out when paying for our fantastic Thai meal. The food was gourmet and we enjoyed 2 tiger beers each this cost us £18. Or £9 a pint.

It is in a lovely spot in the New Forest, although maybe not exactly off the beaten track as it sits near a busy road. The room was big and comfy, lovely furnishings. The spa is nice, if not a little dim in terms of lighting. Massage first class. Food in restaurant was fab.

My son and new daughter-in-law had a lovely wedding at Careys. Thank you for making it truly special for them and a day for them to remember with love for ever. I have just one complaint. I was not offered a discount price despite my daughter-in-law arranging a special price for wedding guests.

We were celebrating our anniversary and this Careys Manor has been recommended by our friends. We completely enjoyed our stay, had meals in the restaurant "Manor Restaurant" and "Le Blaireau" both were very good and just as expected. Staff was very helpful.
