The room (17) did not meet expectations it was not representative of web photos. The dining room ambience non existent. Problem with food although management compensated. Spoilt our anniversary celebration.
Dusty Dirty Cramped Old mattress with lumps
Lovely atmosphere, staff attentive everything ,very luxurious perfect place to be pampered and leave feeling refreshed.
The hotel is ok, you can't go wrong.
Definitely the "fine dining" restaurant is the weakest point of the hotel. The quality and service are just good whilst in modern times they should be exceptional.
Spa facility is huge and very clean. We had a room in the original building which was lovely.
The resturant and the bar area need updating and need to create some atmosphere in the bar. The Manor Restaurant food was excellent.
The location, staff and facilities
Location perfect, staff friendly and room (superior) very comfortable. Breakfast also very good and service excellent.
The two restaurants (not the Thai) had limited menus. We used the French one on both nights we were there and the menu including the 'specials' were identical. The food good, but more variety definitely required.
Fantastic and efficient staff Very comfortable bed Requested a 'quiet room' and that's exactly what I got
Not one thing :-)
Our bedroom was comfortable and spacious and it was a lovely bonus to have a verandah overlooking the garden. The food was excellent - we dined in Le Blaireau one evening and ordered room service on another evening, when we had the pork burgers, which were amazing. The swimming pool was lovely and the perfect place to relax on a hot day. We had a fantastic stay and I would recommend the hotel to anyone who's happy to pay for the comfort and luxury that Careys Manor offers.
The room we had was among the few that do not have air conditioning, but most of the time in England it wouldn't matter and we managed to stay cool at night by leaving the door and window open.
This was relatively last minute, so it was more by luck than judgement that we stayed. Just great, especially the food. Dinner was of the candlelit variety. Avoid the main restaurant if you're in a hurry...we thought we were, but ended up being seduced by the ambience, so try it if you can. Ground floor rooms have their own little verandah looking out onto the very well tended gardens. Worth getting.
Spa facilities, swimming pool, Zen Restaurant, Heritage facade.
Tired looking breakfast room, stained carpets, overcooked breakfast items, very noisy delivery / pickup activities in the car park that backed up to my room - as early as 5.45 am on the Sunday I stayed for.
The Spa was amazing. Great Thai restaurant.
The service at the Hotel's Bistro was chaotic and disjointed. Created a bad atmosphere. The 1960s wing to the hotel in which we stayed reminded me of an old folks home and the decor was very chintzy. Not worth the GBP 200 per night we paid.
Swimming pool and jacuzzi and sauna relaxing after a busy year! Food excellent in French restaurant !
Squeaky bathroom door when used at night! Pillows too soft( no support) but bed comfortable.
Pool and spa are were great
Felt the furnishings and décor were slightly tired and needed updating
A nice hotel but £6 for a can of Guinness is a good example of how overpriced it was. In summary good but unfortunately not that good
The ground floor rooms had lovely outlooks over the garden and each had an individual patio.
Breakfast were pricey!
The staff were amazing. Very friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble.
The French restaurant at the front of the complex. Not accommodating if you haven't booked even of the restaurant is empty!
Very nice stay.my wife had a massage at the spa.we ate in the bistro restaurant which was very nice will come again..would liked to have been able to use hydrospa area .mr&mrs a.w.lynn
Warm room nice & clean
Air unit very loud &drafty room 17 moved to room 6 much nicer room. Food good in hotel breakfast was not included not value for money won't go back.
The location was lovely. staff welcoming and warm. with the hotel being comforting.
unfortunately I was a bit disappointed as there was no hot water on the night of arrival, the sauna was closed, our dinner booking had been missed although resolved.
Lovely establishment, very friendly and helpful staff. Food was superb.
Shame about the 12 hour power cut but understand it's not your fault.
Very pleasant, helpful and efficient staff. Comfortable room. Balloon and chocolates in room for birthday celebration. Nice pool and spa. Good location. Parking OK.
Not child friendly. Breakfast was not included in room rate. Paid additional fee for breakfast and were charged £18 each, including for a 2 year old. This was later removed from the bill. Difficult to get information on web site. Had to ring to find out pool and spa costs and hours and needed to book and pay for use of spa in advance. Pool & gym closed at 8pm. Offered early check in options on web site though rang to arrange and these were not available.
Very nice spa facilities. Good size heated indoor pool. Very comfortable room. Nice surroundings.
Poor parking facilities- (took awhile to find a parking space). Not enough spaces at peak times. Power cut late evening (not the hotels fault) but no contingancy to deal with this (emergency generator). This left the hotel facilities sadly lacking the following morning, including badly cooked breakfast, no bathroom hot water and no spa facilities. Also could not pay bill due to no power.
garden door was left unlocked with luggage in room. A power cut meant that we had no hot or cold water or toilet facilities at all in the morning.
