I enjoyed everything... A big thank you
Lovely house felt like a home rather than a b&b. Room 1 the best with slipper bath, separate shower and four poster bed.
Location was beautiful in a very quiet area. Accommodation was first class and the owners were very friendly and very helpful in catering for the guests need. The breakfast was very tasty using locally sourced products served in a lovely serene atmosphere.
Having to come home :(
Outstanding breakfast, set us up nicely for our walk up Scafell Pike, we'll be back
Very comfortable and good location for work assignment
This property should be clearly identified as a B&B as it served only breakfast and at a time not suitable for business travel (too late in the a.m.)
From the moment we arrived Alan and Alison could not have been more welcoming or helpful. The four poster luxury suite was very comfortable and spacious with a large ensuite bathroom, free standing slipper bath, and complementary home made cake! Excellent value, completely relaxing, fairly close to some really nice dining pubs, abundant walking country. Very well run establishment, recommended
Host, rooms, breakfast,good location.
We enjoyed the stay
friendly welcome to a lovely Georgian home. Decanters of Port and Sherry in the residents lounge .would certainly stay at this quiet B&B again.
Room, peace and tranquility, friendliness and the speed of breakfast service
Everything - friendly, helpful owners, lovely, tastefully decorated, clean and tidy house, excellent breakfasts. Very peaceful location close to Eskdale and beautiful lake Wastwater, great walks, and Irt estuary at Ravenglass Tea tray with cake every day!!
everything, comfy bed, great breakfast and peerless hosts in alison and alan. they even organised nice weather for us while it was raining back home!
having to leave.
The house is beautiful; breakfast perfectly cooked; and beautiful countryside with great hiking more or less out the front door.
The mattress was lumpy.
Very comfortable bed and quiet room with a pleasant view over the garden. Great location for the steam railway. We walked to the Roman Fort.
There wasn't anything not to like
Everything about this hotel was friendly, warm and relaxing. The building and the rooms had a real charm and it was generally just a lovely place to be. The hotel is really close to Wast Water and Scafell Pike, arguably the best view in the lake district, right near a very lovely beach, and not far from Coniston Water. Alan, the owner, was lovely, he was always around to give tips on visiting the lakes or on places to eat. Every morning we got home-cooked, locally sourced breakfasts (full English, smoked salmon, cereals, etc.) and the bedroom and bathroom were beautifully furnished, with a very comfortable four poster bed. If the weather is nice and your car is in good condition, try the local Hard knott pass. The drive is pretty twisty but the road takes you through the valleys and over a mountain and the views are breathtaking.
What a gem of a place and a real find. It really doesn't get better than this. Seriously - do yourself a favour and book a stay: you'll be glad that you did. We're doing exactly that again A.S.A.P.
Lovely place in a good location the rooms were very well decorated and the owners were very friendly
We were a bit disappointed with the breakfast after reading such great reviews we thought it was a bit average (sorry) and the mattress was far to soft on the bed it was like lying on a water bed (not good when u have a bad back)
We liked the welcoming feel of this lovely Georgian house, the comfort and elegance of the large rooms. The enormous comfortable bed with fine linen and the provision of bathrobes. Breakfasts were good and plentiful and nicely presented. Friendly and interesting host who made us feel we could treat Carleton Green as our own and was very helpful recommending places to eat etc.,. Lovely ambience, lovely holiday. ambience.
Nothing really, except that perhaps lighting in the room in the evening was a little inadequate for reading or writing. Perhaps an additional reading lamp would be helpful.
Alan and Alison were brilliant hosts. The room was amazing including home made cake! There wereany places to visit you jusy have to go find it.
There was norhing I didn't like.
Peaceful location Fantastic Georgian house with beautiful boutique style decor Close to both coast and mountains Very clean Friendly owners
The welcome by our hosts, the size and comfort of the room, the fine dining experience that was breakfast, the variety of eating places nearby. Because of it's relative isolation, we needed to take the car when we went out, but this was not a problem for us. We appreciated the quietness and peace of this place.
Nothing to dislike.
Friendly, great advice, would visit again :)
Quiet, peaceful and friendly. Non blokey
Great hosts Fantastic room 4poster bed luxurious bath & toietries 1st class food great and varied house the epitomy of cleanliness faultless
