Very comfortable bed. Lovely location on The Leas. Staff friendly, and helpful when approached.
Our rooms were very cold (February), but electric heaters were provided - when requested. There was no clock alarm in either room, and no bath, despite what the hotel description said.
The one and only thing to give a positive review is the pillows so not a great stay as you can imagine
If i had time to ask for a refund for the stay i would have First off we walked through the door and it stank of alcohol stale and musky at that we couldnt understand the staff in reception. when we got to the room it was like a sauna about 50 degrees and could hardly breathe and the windows are painted shut it was a room for 4 with one toilet not a problem until we find out the toilet doesn't flush the level of hygiene in the toilet was less than poor it looked dirty and grotty stains all over Toothpaste on the taps and sink from previous visitors at this point you begin to wonder what the beds will be like and when the covers were pulled back there were bits all over either from previous visits or from the sheets being on the floor before fitting etc All four of us slept fully dressed the wall were like they were made from egg boxes and could hear very one around us coughing and snoring great when we were only stopping for about 4-5 hours to get a little sleep before carrying on with a long journey would have been better sleeping in the car at first we thought £50 to sleep four people was really good until we got there and in the room it was like it was from the 1920s you will deffinatly not be recommended very poor service !!!
Room freezing cold on arrival Shower only worked on cold, no pressure when turning up to hot water Electrical Testing out of date!!! Breakfast was a joke Whole hotel needs redecorating
comfortable bed,sea view, good breakfast. sea in front and shops behind ,no evening meal but so close to town for pubs and restaurants. lovely walks along the leas
the first room we were offered had been smoked in , fire didn't work , plug sockets crackled , no hot water and blankets smelt of b.o the windows were rotten (which I have photos of ). The second room again some plug sockets didn't work , the photos of the bedrooms advertising this hotel was definitely not one of the 3 that I saw , I would never go back again , the two staff we came across were both pleasant that was the only good thing I can say
The stuff was trying to be helpful but ...
Dreadful experience. No central heating and the cold wind was blowing through the window frame. The portable heater provided did not suffice! We all left with a bad cold. Parking space was not sufficient and it was covered with debris and rocks.
value for money
wifi hit and miss in bedroom, fine in reception area
The duty receptionist was of help, and The round the corner fish and chip shop which was so near.
The hotel is in a bad state ,it's in need of a general refebishment .
Great price, close to sea but short walk from station, good full breakfast included
Folkestone is HALF WAY to Alps for us. Can't face driving non-stop all night any more and travelling companions can't leave work before 5pm. 24 hr. reception so no problem arriving at hotel after 11pm and leaving for ferry at 5am. Much better value than those Formula 1/ Premier Classe places across the water!
Location, freindly greeting on arrival
Room, Food, Area. Had a look in the bar when we arrived (very late in the day) it looked like it was full of homeless people. Hotel is very tired and dirty, would never stay here again. The breakfast was very poor, good job it was free
Convenient to channel tunnel, staff were very pleasant and accommodating.
The carpets throughout were old and shabby, bedding was clean but I could count the mattress springs. Wall to adjoining room was paper thin, could hear every noise. Management need to check rooms for cleanliness before allowing guests entry.
everything ive been all over country and this hotel is the worse it urgently needs of a massive face lift how booking . com advertised this hotel i never know its more like a hostel
Everything really was that bad can't believe carlton would put there name to this hotel
Location lovely.only good for a one night stop prior to catching shuttle though.
Beds hard stale smell in corridors near room. No wifi in room
Smell, decor, unclean
Clean sheets and towels.
Cobwebs on windows there for years, mould in bathroom, shower broke, wallpaper peeling off walls and years of mould on windows, breakfast cold and not very tasty.
The reception staff were brilliant, I phoned ahead to ask about late check in and he was very friendly, even when we arrived at 1.30am. The beds were very comfortable Good breakfast selection of cereals, toast, juice and full english breakfast.
I booked a "comfort double room", advertised as having "bath, fireplace, hot tub, super-kingsize bed", and was given a small double room with shower, no bath, a small double bed, no fireplace, and needless to say no hot tub. I raised this with staff on arrival and was moved into a slightly larger room for the 2nd night. Poor. Terrible breakfast.
Staff were very friendly & helpful. Got pretty much what I paid for - perfectly ok for an overnight stay. Excellent value.
The cleanliness of room and comfy bed.
Rooma and decor very dated.
The room had lovely sea views and staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a very cheap base for exploring the area.
The curtains were dirty and someone had been smoking in the room (really strong smell) The hotel looked like it had seen better times-but you get what you pay for basically
Friendly staff, clean bedding
Back pains from trying to sleep on a bed with more springs than my lifetime. Missed breakfast as it began too late.
Staff were very hospitable & friendly. The Carlton is ideally located one minute from the lovely coastal gardens & beach. The Hotel is smart & well presented from the exterior. The decor 'interior' is a little shabby, but it is clean enough, very comfortable & above all incredibly good value. Great breakfast, efficiently organised; we had a wonderful 4 nights here, with lots to do in the area. We would certainly go again.
