The staff were all very helpful and polite and the location was excellent - near to the station and shops plus site seeing. The room we were in was on the main road and the noise at night from the taxi rank outside and the pub made it difficult to sleep. |

The city of Edinburgh & its well known hospitality An extra £100 was deducted from my card when I booked into the hotel to be riemburst if not spent in hotel when checking out . Extractor not working in bathroom, black mould in grout round tiles in bathroom.Noisy vetilation units outside room window.Large melted burn mark in plastic mirror frame.Window pigeon choir a dawn.Picture near bed of Roman mounted soldier poised to spear a slave on foot. With a room like this would you want to try the restaurant,(no thanks) Hotel rooms need to be brought up to date. |

The hotel was very central for Princes Street, the Castle, the Royal Mile and other attractions and also pubs and restaurants. The hotel had a half price breakfast offer for the weekend we stayed there. The bedrooms facing North Bridge Street were very noisy late Saturday evening/early Sunday morning. However, had excellent views of Waverely Station and Princes Street. |

The location of the hotel was fantastic right in the centre of Edinburgh within walking distance of all the attractions such as Edinburgh castle and all the shops and restaraunts! The rooms were very nice as were the breakfasts. The facilities such as the swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna were in need of some updating. I was slightly disappointed with these facilities. For the amount a paid for the stay i expected slightly more. |

reception was very impressive as you enter hotel. the breakfast layout not the best as stairs had to be negotiated up and down without a tray, food was not great for price and seating too close at some places to return was awkward to say the least other than that fairly ok. |

The location The hotel was very warm. We had to sleep with the wondows open, and left almost immediately every morning as we felt the heat was unbearable. The room was very small was poorly decorated. The bed was very small too, especially considering that I booked for two people. There were no toiletries in our room, and we only recieved these on request and they still took a while to deliver. Our bed was not made throughout our stay. |

It was central and accessable to all areas of the city, although 5 minute walk from railway station I would be inclined to disagree with !! the breakfast was not the best -- and very expensive . |

splendid location but dirty, stuffy hotel. Great potential wasted due to bad maintenance and housekeeping: Overheated, dusty rooms, terrible air, bad cleaning, broken bed, dysfunctional lighting in rooms, no WIFI |

Yes the fact that there is no on site parking! Not told this at time of booking. Had to pay £15.00 for the privilage of going to park 1 mile away and then walk back through the streets in the rain with a baby and suitcases. Absolutely unbelievable. The spa is filthy!!! I did complain re both! |

The location of the hotel was excellent as it was convenient for shopping and also convenient to the Royal Mile. Hotel was clean. We opted not to dine in the hotel on this occasion, but have done so on previous stays. Our daughter was with us on this weekend and our sons joined us from England for one night. The purpose of our visit on this occasion was to see Edinburgh V Ulster rugby match on the Saturday. |

The location of the hotel was excellent as was the standard of the room. I was at the rear, therefore, there was no noise problem. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful and while the pool area is dated it was perfectly adequate for my needs. I cannot comment on meals served at the hotel as I was staying on a room only basis. The hot water actually ran out one night. According to the receptionist, it was due to everyone using it at the same time. This should not happen at such a large hotel. |

The hotel was in a great location close to the Royal Mile. It was also conveniently located for all of Edinburgh's city centre attractions and handy for visiting our son, who is presently studying in Edinburgh. The hotel is a lovely old building with plenty of charm and character, yet the interior decor was quite contemporary and provided a nice contrast. We were also given a room upgrade, which is always a nice touch. Only minor issue was that our room, on the second floor, overlooked the busy street below. As such it was quite noisy all through the night and we didn't sleep particularly well. |

Excellent room sizes and comfort. Quite liberal about guests (e.g. fridge for drinks rather than the usual extortionate mini-bar) The leisure/spa facilities were quite run down and spa out of service) |
