It was central and accessable to all areas of the city, although 5 minute walk from railway station I would be inclined to disagree with !! the breakfast was not the best -- and very expensive . |

splendid location but dirty, stuffy hotel. Great potential wasted due to bad maintenance and housekeeping: Overheated, dusty rooms, terrible air, bad cleaning, broken bed, dysfunctional lighting in rooms, no WIFI |

Yes the fact that there is no on site parking! Not told this at time of booking. Had to pay £15.00 for the privilage of going to park 1 mile away and then walk back through the streets in the rain with a baby and suitcases. Absolutely unbelievable. The spa is filthy!!! I did complain re both! |

The location of the hotel was excellent as it was convenient for shopping and also convenient to the Royal Mile. Hotel was clean. We opted not to dine in the hotel on this occasion, but have done so on previous stays. Our daughter was with us on this weekend and our sons joined us from England for one night. The purpose of our visit on this occasion was to see Edinburgh V Ulster rugby match on the Saturday. |

The location of the hotel was excellent as was the standard of the room. I was at the rear, therefore, there was no noise problem. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful and while the pool area is dated it was perfectly adequate for my needs. I cannot comment on meals served at the hotel as I was staying on a room only basis. The hot water actually ran out one night. According to the receptionist, it was due to everyone using it at the same time. This should not happen at such a large hotel. |

The hotel was in a great location close to the Royal Mile. It was also conveniently located for all of Edinburgh's city centre attractions and handy for visiting our son, who is presently studying in Edinburgh. The hotel is a lovely old building with plenty of charm and character, yet the interior decor was quite contemporary and provided a nice contrast. We were also given a room upgrade, which is always a nice touch. Only minor issue was that our room, on the second floor, overlooked the busy street below. As such it was quite noisy all through the night and we didn't sleep particularly well. |

Excellent room sizes and comfort. Quite liberal about guests (e.g. fridge for drinks rather than the usual extortionate mini-bar) The leisure/spa facilities were quite run down and spa out of service) |

The location is very good, right on the Royal mile and only 5 min walk to Princes Street. We did not manage to get much sleep due to the noise outside, drunks, tramps, cars etc... until 4am in the morning, the room did not keep the noise out which was really disappointing after a long day sight seeing we really wanted to sleep. Based on this we would not stay here again or recommend to anyone else. |

location, surroundings and comfort of bed!! stayed 2 nights, breakfast first morning was very enjoyable, unfortunately next morning was not, i understand that it was very busy, we waited 10 minutes befor anyone came to show as to our table, which was full of dishes, we were told to get our breakfast and the table would be ready on our return, there was only cutlery when we came back, we asked for a pot of tea, which came after 5 minutes, we had no cups or saucers, after 15 minutes i had to go and find some, by which time the tea was cold. there was to scrambled eggs at the buffet table, we stood for 10 minutes, when none arrived, i asked for some, to be told it would be another 10 minutes! i was very disappointed as the trip was a birthday gift for my sister! |

Clean, well decorated, good room size with plenty of seating, reasonably quiet despite it's proximity to the main Waverley train station. Food good, breakfast very reasonably priced. Bar understaffed for a Friday night (just one barman who had to clear tables, collect crockery from kitchen, etc., as well as serving customers at the bar). |

I was very disappointed that although the room was classified non-smoking the bed had an extremely strong smell of cigarette smoke. Had it not been so late when we checked in I would have complained and asked to be moved. As I am undergoing chemotherapy at the moment this was extremely unpleasant. Obviously the room has been a smoking room in the past and the smell is imbedded in the fixtures and furnishings. |

The Central location (right on the Royal Mile) was excellent for both the University Open Day and for sightseeing, and I easily found a car park charging £16 for 24 hours parking. Not bad considering the relatively small size of the Central Area. |

The public areas of the hotel were good There was loud music until late so did not sleep. The room was basic and basically no better than a travel lodge. Nothing special at all very disapointed |

I booked this room for a visitor, not for myself. He checked into the hotel, but when I came to meet him, the hotel staff denied that they had a person of that name staying, and would not tell me whether anyone else with the same family name was there. This was very annoying. Fortunately, he turned up shortly afterwards. The hotel should have a better practice regarding information concerning a guest whose room has been reserved by a person who can identify themself. |

The hotel is very central and its easy to get anywhere in the city from it. The spa facilities were a bit run down in comparrision to the rest of the hotel, also unable to book in for any treatments whilst there, no available space. |
