The suite we were allocated was superb in terms of comfortable bed, seating, bathrooms. The staff are not as well-trained as they should be in such a prestigious hotel. The receptionist was not welcoming; the bar staff positively rude (one kept loading the dishwasher for at least five minutes when my husband was waiting at the bar to order a drink) the food service was extremely slow in the bar area and at breakfast. When i asked for tea for the 2nd time after waiting for 15 minutes I was told that they were very busy. The fact was they had forgotten about us as other residents who had entered the dining room after us had been given their tea, coffee and toast. |

As a business traveller being located between Edinburgh & Aberdeen therefore is a half way stop for me between client appointments I feel that the food menu could be improved and also a little over priced. If the menu could be better then the prices would be fair |

we were attending a function in the hotel - perfect to be able to stay overnight the first room we were offered smelled strongly of ciragette smoke - we were offered a second room immediately and this was excellent |

It is nice and quier in a lovely location and very relaxing Stayed a few times before and the rooms are always very nice and always very clean Breakfast is nice but we didnt have food in the bar or restaurant this time as we were disapointed in the food last time |

Very friendly staff, great views from the room, fantastic pool and the breakfast was very good. Probably not the best place to go for a bunch of girls wanting a night out. The hotel bar was dead and the other guests in the bar were clearly there for a very quiet drink!!! |

It was our fourth time at Carnoustie, the staff were friendly and very attentative at breakfast. Its such a lovely location to go for walks, relax and get away from the stresses of a busy working life. Such a tranquil break away. The spa seems to be out of order every time we go. |

The room was excellent and the staff in general were pleasant. The facilities were well set out, however... There was obviously not enough staff and service was slow and poor. Fridges behind the bars were almost empty and staff were struggling to keep up. Breakfast both mornings was bog standard and not in keeping with the price of the hotel. This is not a go at the staff but that fact that there were too few to cope properly. |

I enjoyed the surroundings of the hotel but that was it, we had a very poor experience in the hotel. I would love to know who rated it four star more like 2 star. Yes the lack of staff!!!!poor staff moral although they tried so hard there are cleary sick of the poor management and staff coverage. Hotel was run down and our view from our room was of a roof top full of cigarrette buts and moss not pleasant. |
