Lovely room and comfortable bed - gorgeous large bathroom. Grounds were stunning. Breakfast was good and a good choice.
No personal greeting from owner - keys left in a box - for the money paid this was a little poor. Had to let in other guests due to owner being out - again poor for high cost of room. Breakfast was one table for all guests - would be better to have individual tables - a little uncomfortable being seated with strangers. Parking limited and awkward
Very comfortable , exceptionally clean great breakfast very friendly hosts
Themed decor in good taste. Great bathroom. Endless hot water. Iron produced within seconds. Lovely range of room beverages. Wonderful bed and hence a good sleep. Excellent breakfast with much choice. Warm, welcoming hosts.
Could not fault the accommodation or the food, the hosts were very accommodating and friendly. Location was great for travelling and sightseeing
We stayed in the Garden Suite which is in a separate building to the main house. The Garden Suite had a spa bath and a wonderfully comfortable bed. As the name suggests, it was situated at the entrance to the garden and was opposite the Cascade from which the property gets its name. The breakfasts were ample and of very good quality and the hosts were friendly and informative. We were lucky as the weather was very good for a late September stay.
Owing to the lack of rain for the last few months, the cascade was not operational as the water table was too low. It may bother some guests that there was no wi-fi available in the Garden Suite but the peace and quiet of the location more than made up for it. If it worries you, book a room in the main house, where wi-fi is free.
Overall very pleasant stay Delicious breakfast Meeting other guests at breakfast table Toiletries in the Bedroom Interesting pictures in the Tibet room
Difficult to turn car round in drive to avoid reversing out onto road Limited street lighting if you want to walk to nearest pub at night
Friendly and helpful owners. Large comfortable bedroom. Unusual fascinating gardens.
Nobody there when we arrived - key and instructions left in box by door. Although very good there was lack of much choice for breakfast.
Alan and Alesia were excellent hosts. One day, Alan took the trouble to drive us to the start of a walk so we did not have a long climb to get there. Great breakfast. Excellent garden where we bought a lot of plants. Highly recommended.
Fantastic location, where you feel very welcome by the hostess. Great breakfast. Very good pubs and coffee nearby.
May be a little bit of TLC to the plumbing....
Sometimes you want something which hasn't been provided - I couldn't think of anything missing in the excellent Garden Suite - even down to hot chocolate, spa bath and cotton buds! A welcoming hostess & delicious breakfast.
Very narrow gateway to the premises.
Lovely big bathroom.
Only one towel provided for each person.
A house of character with a very interesting garden Attentive hosts
Narrow entrance to car park
central setting, lovely gardens, decent friendly pub up the road (though takes some finding) Good breakfast and friendly owners. Comfortable room.
Pricey. Garden suite has skylight which would benefit from having a blind. Awoke extremely early due to sunlight pouring in.
Very comfortable room, pleasantly furnished. Beautiful gardens and very interesting decor around the house.
Would have appreciated wi-fi connection, but it is not the end of the world when you are in such a tranquil setting.
Very friendly welcome, lovely position and gardens
A little expensive, not enough hot water for the garden room bath.
Wonderful gardens, quirky décor.
Tight turn in through the gateway.
Perfect location, very peaceful, would definitely recommended!
Ran out of hot water but just waited an hour to fill up the spa bath again in the evening as had used it in the morning
Situated in a nice location with very pretty gardens. Breakfast was very good.
The room was small and not very practical if you were to stay for more than one night.
The warm welcome, quality of the accommodation, set in a extraordinary garden, enjoying the breakfast taken in a period room surrounded with antiques, close to many attractions.
leaving at the end of our stay !!!!
Lovely stay with our whole family over the weekend. We had the garden suite which was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast nice and the staff very accommodating. Location was good, easy access to all the Peak District attractions. A very enjoyable stay.
Only improvement would be hand towel rails in the bathroom.
Friendly and helpful hosts with plenty of advice about their gardens and the locality as well as useful tips on how to avoid the traffic when going to nearby Chatsworth House. Bonsall is a lovely location with plenty to explore on foot - which we did - as is nearby Matlock Bath. Recomended.
