Very nice inn with pub food
It very old with steep stair
Styed there with a couple of friends whilst we attended a birthday party. Room was huge, clean, and bathroom had an excellent shower in it . Breakfast was very nice and cant fault the hotel in any way and we will definitely be back
Nice spacious room, very helpful, friendly staff
poor menu. Terrible music, very loud and not relaxing
Very friendly staff Clean bedroom Great location Busy
Food not terribly exciting but friendly service No proper soap or extra "bits " in bathroom
Room size and location of hotel
Only 1 set of pillows and no bed cover - it appeared as though the room was not ready to accept guests
The whole experience as made very welcome and good value for money.
Nothing comes to mind.
The attentiveness of the staff. The great room. Dinner excellent
Filter coffee rather than cafetière. Prefer toast to be served at same time as hot breakfast
Location the best feature of this hotel along with friendly reception staff. Parking also great.
This didn't feel like a hotel but a pub with rooms. It was a real struggle to get to our ro
Friendly staff Good food in the restaurant Fantastic location right in the centre of town
Room was a little chilly and wifi was patchy
Ambience of hotel, no fuss, friendly staff, no problems at all
Position on the high street The bar Parking
superior room was too basic . Lacked the little touches which would have made it superior. Felt that only the minimum had been provided. There was a large empty area which could have done with a comfy settee to make the room cosy.
Had a great room. Every thing we needed. Food was excellent and great value for money. Room service was vert efficient would stay again tomorrow.
A few creaky floor boards but you do except that in an old building
The room was very good, warm and comfortable. Lots of hot water and lovely towels. Location and parking good.
Very busy bar and little seating for residents. Cold in the bar areas. Having booked a table for dinner we found ourselves sat in an area on our own, rather cold and isolated. Service in the dining room was slow and seemed to be understaffed.
Spacious room Cosy Good service Good location with parking
Location for relaxing break away
Chest of drawers would be useful to put clothes away as none in room
Comfortable room and bed.
Bang smack in the centre of the famous wide high street and a great spot from which to tour the historical sites of Wiltshire or just to enjoy Marlborough.
Breakfast. The staff are even more disenchanted with their toaster than us! Otherwise, eggs dry and over cooked. Not impressed. Our 5th visit and brekkie used to be great. Hope it will be again.
position right in the centre of this delightful town.
Dogs in the bar.
Loved the room, had all we needed for overnight Lovely evening meal, great service with it Slept like a log Very full English with staff who were lovely All the staff did their jobs well, all really helpful
Stairs were uneven and there wasn't a lift.
The people, Laura and staff plus Sergei
Detached room OK but not our preference. Also no view. View of High Street would have been very nice
We were on the top floor and there were lots of steep steps up to it - the top flight of steps were slanted because the building was so old and there was a heavy door which opened towards you and this was extremely hard to stay straight on the steps and open the door inwards and manage suitcases all at the same time. My mother is in her late 70's and was struggling. I don't know how health and safety regulations would have passed the top floor for accommodation. We will be in Marlborough regularly now as we have family who live there but will never stay in Castle and Ball again.
The staff and informality. The food was good value.
We asked for a first floor room and one at the rear of the hotel. We were allocated a room on the second floor and at the front of the hotel! When we complained no other rooms were available. I found with no lift, the stairs were a problem.
Fine ales, cosy, great to park on site as well
Had to ask more than once for tomatoe sauce, im a grown man who wants more than a thimble full on my mixed grill, had to ask again at breakfast, waiting while my meal goes cold. These should be on the table already
authentic look and well kept, very big and nice room
wifi use requires extra time for settings
