Staff Room Breakfast
Nice beds, quiet, friendly competent staff
Great breakfast sitting in the sunshine by the river.
Quite a disturbed night's sleep, lots of noise from the lobby.
Fresh grapefruit for breakfast
The size of the standard room
Very clean, good food, helpful staff. Private car park in (old) city centre location
Too hot, disturbed sleep. Towel radiator in bathroom could not be turned off.
Generally an excellent quiet hotel
Breakfast buffet a bit short on cold selection eg fruit etc but good hot
The location and proximity to the Cathedral, where I was conducting my Priory Voices choir for a long weekend.
1) Lack of staff (and indeed, experienced staff) on the bar. Took ages just to find someone to serve me a G+T. And when I wanted a draught beer, the girl behind the bar had to be shown how to pour it by someone else. 2) Lack of attention to room detail. As the occupant of Room 9 for 4 days, I expected the coffee sachets that I had used the previous day to be replenished - they weren't. Even though I put the empty sachets in the bin, and left the box on the bed, as an indication. Bizarrely, the shower sachets WERE replaced as I used them, but not the coffee. 5) Also, when feeling hungry, and wanting something to eat from the room fruit bowl, the orange was completely mouldy underneath, and the grapes were on their last legs. I put them both in the bin. If you provide a facility, then get your staff to check them daily. In summary: Certainly NOT WORTH £110 a night. Could have booked a 10 day holiday in Spain, including flights from Manchester, with the £505 I spent with you last weekend.
The ambience and location of the hotel was wonderful. Close to Hereford Cathedral and the Mappa Mundi exhibit
The room was a little dark and could have benefited from more ventilation
This hotel is in an excellent position for visiting the cathedral and town. The room was large, well appointed and very comfortable with kettle, fridge, free wi-fi, sherry and a bowl of fruit. A sofa and a comfortable chair gave plenty of options for comfort.
The meal in the evening was disappointing. It should not have been since the hotel claims to have a Michalin awarded chef. It was OK but nothing compared to a meal I had for the same price at Portmeirion a few days earlier.
Good dinner with attentive staff.Pleasant room.
Room much too hot.Staff at breakfast slow and inefficient.
Wonderful location, very easy to book and no deposit needed, very helpful, well trained and polite staff in all areas, the room, although small, had been very thoughtfully designed with good storage, etc. very good food and a very pleasant outdoor space.
We had to leave, even though we had planned to stay another night as, despite a fan provided, our 2nd floor room in the town house was much too hot to sleep comfortably. I opened landing windows as well as our room window but it was still impossibly hot.
Good location. Very good breakfast.
All of above
The room was surprisingly good size so perfect for a small family with baby.
Some of the building still need work.
We only stayed one night but it was most enjoyable. The dinner was excellent, the staff very attentive and we hope to return in the near future
Nothing to dislike
The complete package was excellent. The staff, the food, the room, and the location were exceptional.
A packet of cafetiere coffee in the room was very weak, (well you did ask)!
Access to garden direct from our room.
Very steep stairs down to basement room difficult for guests of our age.
Excellent location, close to the shops and the River, with lovely walks from the Hotel. It was a beautiful room, and we got a free upgrade.
Nothing - it was perfect
Evening meal, comfortable bed
No real negatives
I loved the location, within walking distance of the main town and cathedral; I loved the staff, cleanliness and ambiance of the hotel. The rooms are amazing with fireplaces in our rooms, and tea, coffee and sherry. i would highly recommend this hotel for families and anyone who loves the countryside, but wants the amenities of a small city. Loved our stay!
Nothing; everything was perfect
The accomodation was thoughtfully appointed and very clean. The staff was uniformly helpful and gracious.
Staff, location, facilities, room, decor and food
Price but if you want quality......
Very comfortable and attractive hotel with good friendly staff
Very welcoming and friendly staff. Comfortable room (junior suite in the town house), well-equipped, quiet and peaceful. Great breakfast. Enjoyed 2 good meals in the restaurant - the "tasting menu" was particularly enjoyable. Would definitely ne happy to stay there again.
All good !
