Within Canterbury’s historic city walls, Abode Canterbury is just 300 metres from Canterbury Cathedral.
Score from 688 reviews Very good
Just metres from Canterbury’s medieval West Gate, this charming building dates back to 1403. A former coaching inn, it offers free Wi-Fi and free parking, 2 minutes’ walk from the city centre.
Score from 979 reviews Very good
An inn since the 15th century, this beautiful property offers boutique rooms and modern stable rooms with free Wi-Fi, just a few minutes’ walk from the city centre.
Score from 366 reviews Superb
A delightful old pub close to the city centre and its many tourist attractions. The ruins of the ancient water mill (hence Miller's Arms) on the River Stour remain alongside the pub.
Score from 303 reviews Fabulous
Easy walk into Canterbury.
No wardrobe in our room - just a rail with coat hangers. Over enthusiastic staff at breakfast, re taking cooked food request.
Everything about our stay was excellent, especially the breakfast. Not a huge plate swimming in grease but beautifully prepared and presented, best eggs I have ever had at a hotel. Lovely staff, couldn't fault it.*****
Lived up to expectations.
We liked the location of the hotel, easy to find, walking distance to centre of town. Room very comfortable with sofa and armchair. Staff extremely friendly and cheerful, breakfast delicious, good choice. All in all it was just a perfect place to stay and relax. Would gladly recommend it. Good value for money.
Shower: this is always difficult to get right, could do with updating.
Short walk to town centre Lovely breakfast
Location and good breakfast. Friendly staff.
Hot water not working properly but we were offered a discount.
Hotel and staff very friendly good location
Stayed in room at front could ent open windows noise of road was my only thought with hotel would stay again but in different room
Location is good, opposite the ruins of Canterbury Castle and a short walk to the Cathedral and mediaeval centre of town. Staff friendly and helpful especially Maria (?) at reception and the patient and obliging dining room servers.
That the family room is a detached exterior structure in the car park, even though it is spacious and well furnished ( the 3 children very impressed by TV in the bathroom!) Taking 3 regular bedrooms each with an extra cot would have been a more agreeable arrangement for our family group.
Friendly staff. Good sized comfortable room with good facilities. Great breakfasts and within easy walking distance of all the city's historic sites - and Dane John Gardens is literally on the doorstep for an early morning stroll. In fact everything was as we remember it from our visit last year.
Nothing - even the weather was good.
B&B is relatively well located to the city centre, but it is on a busy intersection. The road noise must make it impossible to open the windows at night and still expect to have a good night's sleep. B&B has plenty off road private parking. Room and ensuite were comfortable. Breakfast was of a better than usual standard.
Hard to sleep, as all rooms facing the road are lit up by the B&B's powerful garden spotlights at night and the drapes provided are much too small and thin to block the glare. In the room all night it is as if the sun is setting, and in the morning the glare merely changes from orange to white. We were surprised to be told that apparently no-one mentioned this as a problem before. Also, bed was also too hard for us, but perhaps some may like this. All in all, for us it was not the most comfortable or good value B&B of our trip. Sadly, we would not stay again.
Liked it all
Very near to where I needed to be and the breakfast was very good
Location near rail and coach stations
Lack of retaurant
Big room, very comfortable, nicely furnished, friendly staff and excellent breakfast. Very good location for visiting Canterbury. Free parking.
Nothing to dislike.
location breakfast great value for money
Odd shaped bedroom in the annex but very comfortable. Large bathroom. Very good breakfast and helpful staff.
We loved the separate little cottage like room in the premisses , and the location was superb!!
Friendly helpful staff. Very clean and cozy rooms
Quirky room in the coach house. Excellent reception and serving staff. Good breakfast in bright restaurant.
I couldn't stay longer!
Very convenient location - able to walk from the station and into the old city. Double glazed bedroom windows kept out any traffic noise. The breakfast was very good and freshly cooked to order. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Air conditioning in the bedroom would have been a plus.
Location and parking
Very good staff who were friendly and very genuine.
Bed too small (standard double) and any slight movement wobbled throughout the whole mattress. If the hotel invested in pocket sprung mattresses it would greatly improve quality of sleep.
Perfect stay. Room on ground floor, with walk-in shower, ideal for anyone with a physical disability. Excellent breakfast, included in room rate. Easy parking in hotel courtyard. Centre of Canterbury within walking distance.
Staff are very friendly and welcoming and give you ideas of where to go. The rooms are very comfortable and the breakfasts are very good. We really like the fact that we can park our car there and then walk into town as it is so close. We also appreciate the fact that there is a bar in the hotel so you can have a nightcap :-)
The double-bed was on the small side.
The building itself, the bar and the garden. It isn't in the centre of Canterbury, but the town is small and in 10 min walking you are at the cathedral. Cosy atmosphere, clean and elegant, first quality english breakfast, cooked on demand, served in a lovely room with elegant furniture. Attentive and polite staff. Wi-Fi free worked very well. helpful staff at the reception.
The mattress was to soft. I prefer it firm, almost hard.
