Chris Holmes, the Landlady of the Castle Inn, Knucklas, says that she more or less arrived here by mistake 5 years ago, but now this is her home. She loves it here and hope you will too. Chris describes the area as one of the most beautiful parts of Britain, untouched and a little forgotten, and the local people as really friendly.

wifi didnt work & there's no mobile signal for miles .
Excellent bar & food .
Probably the hot water heater in the bedroom - it didn't really get the water hot enough
Excellent Sunday evening meal - even though I arrived late Well cooked breakfast - spot on scrambled egg
The food, the service, the views!
the wifi made trabels, so the young couple did 'nt like the place.
We had all the facilities we needed. And the place is very quit.
Would have preferred to check in earlier than 6pm which was the earliest we could on the terms and conditions.
Friendly staff Great reasonably priced food in the bar.
Room not worth the money-cracked sink, different colour toilet seat, very creaky floorboards
Nice people, food good
very comfortable rooms. Breakfast was amazing. Friendly staff. friendly dog.
Friendly staff. Excellent food and drink.
The only thing I can fault this b&b for is they need to update their TVs in the rooms otherwise we had a lovely stay and everyone were so friendly
The staff were amazing, big roaring fires, fantastic food. Perfect way to warm up after a long cold day working in the wilds of Wales
Did not manage to access wifi, but did not ask for help so that might be my fault.
Friendliness and helpfulness of staff. Quality of food.
We stayed at the Castle Inn while visiting the area and were very happy with our choice. We had a wonderful dinner in the delightful period bar, a cozy night in a snug room and a fantastic breakfast, crowned with that most rare of commodities in these isles, real honest to goodness coffee!
The outside access to the bedrooms. The bedrooms are dated but very clean
The friendliness of the staff & locals & the excellent breakfast
The owner and staff were very helpful and friendly. It is situated in a quiet relaxing village.
We booked 24 hours earlier but booking.com's notification had not been picked up by Inn. We were a surprise to the staff! Since we were the only guests, there was no problem. Meal options were restricted due to folk event.
Ample room but short on shelves. Spacious bathroom with electric shower. Rooms well away from bar but over function room. It turned out to be the monthly folk music evening. Great entertainment with one band in function room and several other performers in the bar. We were very lucky!
No mirror in room
Staff very welcoming homely enviroment
We had a twin bed room in the annexe. It was perfectly functional, but small, sparsely furnished and not at all friendly. At night, external lighting was on all night and windows could not be opened because of noise from the kitchen extractor fans.
The pub rooms are great, spacious and comfortable. Beer is first class. Food was really good, all cooked on site, and service was friendly. It must be good, since it attracts lots of local custom.
Sorry but the stairs to the rooms not very nice.
The beds were very comfortable and the room was spacious. Very enjoyable two nights.
No lunches served, despite sign outside saying they were. Outside staircase to rooms
Very friendly staff. Pretty location. Good food and beer. Homely atmosphere. Excellent breakfast made with quality produce. Dog friendly. Will visit again.
Due for a refurb.
Location and value
Access to bedrooms via metal steps on outside of building Squeeky bed Could not get internet to work Slightly dated decor in rooms and bathroom Overpriced but it was bank holiday
Food - excellent Staff - very friendly Dogs - able to take our dogs and good dog walks in area Old fashioned pub Spotlessly clean
Handbasin was chipped.
Quiet location, with accommodation separate from the bar. Excellent breakfasts and good bar food. Good centre for exploring Offa's Dyke.
