The Staff, The Value, The Restaurant
Booked last minute and was really pleased. Fab location in centre but in a lovely road right near the actual Castle and it's grounds, lovely walk. Car park very near too. Room in Brewery House was huge and suited us well, lovely and quiet. Breakfast was great too. Enjoyed our stay, thanks.
Great location Room clean
I know it's an old hotel but everything felt very dated. We were stuck on the top floor- the 10 year old thought it was "Creepy."
We were in the Brewery House which was warm, comfortable and gave us fantastic views over the green. Clean, very reasonable and perfect base for our trip to the snowdome! Will be back. Staff were friendly and accommodating can't thank them enough. Thanks!
I would like it to be closer to home so I could stay more often!! :-)
Room was very spacious and clean Vodka bar is great Buffet breakfast is good Parking is not a problem
Rooms are a bit tired - but fine Breakfast, although good, would benefit from better ingredients - premium sausages and bacon - and Black pudding please
the location was great. The staff very friendly. Our room was in the Brewers House and on the outside looked a bit drab but amazed at our room. 10/10.
The bed was hard after a few hours.
Better bed more staff cleaner room
We stayed over the road from the hotel at the Brewery House, it was so quiet and comfortable with huge rooms and bathrooms.
Could not get on the hotels Wi-Fi
Bed Shower Cleanliness
Strange smell in corridor
Good clean with friendly staff
Breakfast was too expensive
Staff were helpful with bags and information. Coffee making facilities reasonable.
Creaky floors, ceilings and bed. Old spring mattresses uncomfortable and noisy. Worn carpets. No restaurant facilities, breakfast option too expensive. Could you not make a discount arrangement with a local restaurant?
The Castle Hotel looks nice, but could do with at least million pound spent on it. With the right owner who would be willing to invest, this would be a good investment given time. Staff great and nothing too much trouble. Receptionist very understanding when I complained.
We stayed in the annex part of the hotel, which is a large house that has been converted in to bedrooms. Very impressive from the outside and views of the castle grounds. As you open the front door to the building there is a strong musty smell. Once you open your bedroom door...Oh no.... Now I am back in the 70's. Polystyrene tiles on the ceiling, plain brown quilt covers. Bathroom well dated, it just was not worth £75 a night. I would rate this room as it is to be around £50 and not a penny more a night.
I booked on line and price of breakfast was not included.
Close to town center
Could do to sort out with council about parking in cat park down road to make it you pay for your stay nt just a day
Our rooms were in the Brewery House, an annex of the hotel. It is located 100m away from the hotel nearer the car park. A great advantage for us, I was aware of this annex & asked to be located there, it is very quiet, but without losing the appearance of a quality hotel. The rooms we were given were of excellent quality & larger than normal. Clean, comfortable, quiet & with all the standard requirements from a hotel of this quality & standard. I could honestly say we were under charged for one of the rooms, it was for arguments sake a suite not a room. The WIFI connection was free as advertised & of very good quality, the TV reception I believe was free view & also of excellent quality. The views across to Tamworth Castle or down to the river were amazing. (We paid extra for a sea view in Blackpool). The gardens were well kept & clean. Security was not a problem, with the added comfort of knowing corridor cctv was connected to the hotel security system. The hotel was never any further away than a phone call from your room telephone. Will be back soon...... Great place to stay.
The floor boards on the upstairs landing all creaked. This made you aware you may disturb other guests. The curtains in one of the bedrooms could do with replacement hooks & eyes, I did adjust them to make for easier opening. The car park all day passes meant you had to get up before 8am to put a ticket on your car. (not Hotels Fault). A small fridge in the rooms would be of a great bonus to all visitors.
The room was spacious and very clean, the location with the river and gardens outside made it a pleasure to stay in such a lovely town ,staff were friendly and helpfull and put in a quiet room away from the main hotel were weddings were taking place so it wouldn't disturb our babies sleep.
Having to leave after 1 night ,will definitely book to stay for longer next time.
We were put in an annexe building about 100 yards from the main hotel. There was a wedding party in the main hotel so we were kept apart from the noise.
No lift. Floorboards throughout the building (not just the room itself) creaked extremely loudly.
Spacious room. friendly staff.comfy bed.
Not being informed of staying in brewery house instead of hotel. No wi fi in brewery house or hotel.breakfast was cold..
Car park was not secure and cars were broken in to
Spacious and spotless rooms. Loved staying here and would again.
Room was clean, quiet, dark and I slept OK
For the price the hotel is a bit tired around the edges, the TV in the room was really tiny, the wifi did not work, the shower was scalding and feeble, the kettle didn't work, the bathroom very basic and very "budget" in finish, the vodka bar was unpleasant and no food was available when I stayed. Sadly, best part of the stay was leaving, even that was tricky as I had to hunt around for someone to pay.
Staff here are very welcoming and helpful. The location is ideal for anyone who is sight seeing.
I travelled with my newborn and found the stairs to reception troublesome with a pushchair so I would imagine this would be much worse for disabled access. Having said this the staff were kind enough to exchange my room for a room with ground floor access in the building adjacent to the main hotel. Another issue was the parking. The closest car park to the hotel had a 2 hour limit with a no return for 2 hours rule. So you wouldn't be able to leave your vehicle there all day. Not an issue if you are planning on seeing the sights though. There is a long stay car park just under half a mile away.
