Castle View Guest House30 Castle Street, New Town, EH2 3HT Edinburgh (Show map) Very good, Score from 262 reviews“I chose to stay at Castle View Guest House due to its central location and because, with the reduced price, it was within my budget. In the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town, 4-star Castle View Guest House is less than 300 ft from Princes Street. It has lovely views of Edinburgh Castle and offers free Wi-Fi and hearty breakfasts. Stylish, classically decorated rooms all feature a TV, free tea and coffee and ironing facilities. They either have in-room bathroom facilities or a separate private bathroom. Castle View is set across several floors of a Georgian town house, which is also the birthplace of the author of The Wind in the Willows. For evening dining, guests have a choice of restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Hotel Rooms: 8

We booked a big room with 2 double beds, on single and a sofa bed. This was ideal for our family, 2 adults and 4 children. There was a lovely shower. We loved the location in the centre of Edinburgh as we wanted to explore the city. There is no private car parking.

Castle View Guest House has a fantastic location. You can see the castle from the street and from some of the rooms. My sister and I stayed in the 'Balmore' room. It was a triple room with one double and a single bed - so we had lots of space :) It was on 3rd or 4th floor, so we had a great view to the castle! The room was tidy and clean. There was towels, shampoo, shower gel and body lotion. A little flatscreen tv, kettle + coffee, the, cookies and some sweets. Breakfast was inclusive - and it was okay. The ventilator in the bathroom was a bit noisy. A little noice from the street!

It is the best hotel where I have ever stayed. The room was royal. The window opened on the castle. The shopping street is very close to the hotel there is no lift, because it is very old building. But it is not drawback for me I am in favour for sport)

A bit querky but would stay there again and have already recommended to friends of mine who are planning a visit. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is very good. Only slight gripe I have is that I couldn't sleep as building noisy but it is listed so have to accept bumps and creaking but worse a very noisy plumbing system. A bit noisy at times especially the plumbing system.

I like that it was in the center of town. My name is pavlos lydakis and I made a booking to castle view hotel for 3 adults and two children. 15 days before we fly ,we sent email to change the booking because we cancel one adult and the price for two adults and two children room it was cheaper than the first one. We never receive your answer in the two days you have said. We arrived at the hotel and the manager of hotel said that he already knew about the change of the booking but we had to pay the money for 6 person room. Im not happy with this progress and I want you to do something for it. That means that I want my extra money back that I paid. We stayed 6 nights and they never change the sheets only towels. The building was so old that when you were walking in the room you had the feeling of earthquake. The windows were very old so noise and wind passed through inside the room.

I was breaking up a long journey, so was just looking for a comfy bed, hot shower and breakfast. The Castle View provided all three, and was excellent value for money. I arrived late at night from the airport, and was greeted with warm welcome and spent a comfortable night in a small but well-furnished room. I would stay here again. Nothing bad to say about the place.

The Castle View Guest House was very conveniently located to see the sights of Edinburgh and to the town centre with shops and restaurants close by It was easy to find although car parking was located about a 10 minute walk away. The breakfasts were good although possibly a little understaffed when the dining room was full. Generally staff were very helpful. No onsite parking

Central position The shower door was break and the elettrical socket as well very dangerous the rest is fine but I would say £ 39 for night it's a bit too much. I will make a bit less like £30 breakfast included.

Lovely reception from Jerry who was very friendly and helpful. Room clean and spacious. All areas clean and bed comfortable. Breakfast staff were not friendly and tables nor being cleared with guests having to sit at tables not cleared. Guests had to ask for cutlery. Enough staff on hand to cope, so no excuses there. Breakfast busy, but staff not intuitive or helpful. Pity about this.
