Very good location. Staff very friendly. Had requested a twin but they only had a double left. Brought us a spare bed. Breakfast was poor. Reheated hard bacon and scrambled egg was a mess. Toast was warm bread.

Friendly helpful staff. The young man on duty carried our bags to room when we arrived, which was a great help as on top floor!! Good exercise :) breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. Stayed with my mum for three nights and room was a good size with a double and single bed. Very good location and would stay again. The bathroom was clean and modern, but the bedroom light was hanging by wires from the ceiling and everytime the room next door used the bathroom a water pump made an awful noise. The breakfast room is a bit of a tight squeeze when busy,

Staff were very helpful. Location is excellent, just between the two main shopping streets in Edinburgh. Nice view to the castle. Spacious and clean rooms. Very good breakfast. The windows need renovation.

My room was clean, modern & tasteful. Great to be able to make a cup of tea/coffee too. Excellent. I didn't have much luggage but I wouldn't like to take a huge suitcase up the 3 flights of stairs, but I suspect the staff would help with that - they were very helpful.

From arrival to departure the welcoming staff were always happy to help with a smile. The location was fantastic with amazing views of the castle and minute walk from Princes St. And George St. The wonderful array of shops were hard to resist. My daughter and I spent More than we should of done! We spent a few hours exploring the castle which was within easy walking distance of the Castle Guest House and well worth the visit(suggest per-booking as the que was rather long).we were lucky enough to see the pandas in the zoo(recommend booking). Plenty of places to eat and drink. We deffinatly want to go back! Love the people, sooooo friendly and helpful. Apart from friendly staff, the yummy full scotish breakfast set you up for the day.very comfy beds, plenty of hot water and not too much traffic noise. Mary and Charlie from Surrey England. 4.4.2012 - 6.4.20 It's not that we didn't like the 90 or so stairs, but after walking around Edinburgh we found it quite testing on the leg mussels(We've probably come back fitter than before we went) hasn't put us off wanting to stay there again though!!

Very nice staff and very clean room. The breakfast is good as well. All this is just 45 pounds, great value of money. You have to give them enough time to produce your payment invoice. In my case, I just stayed for one night so now I have to wait for them to post the invoice to me.

Location It's called 'Castle View'. However, you do not get a Castle view from any of the rooms. Only if you put your head out of the window and look to your right!! Very misleading.

I love the location. The breakfast room is darling and cozy. The location is central. The staff are friendly and helpful. It is a wonderful place to stay. I could not recommend it highly enough. I stay there everytime I am in Edinburgh. As far as I'm concerned it is the best place to stay in Edinburgh and they have many different sizes of rooms from a very cozy single on the top floor to rather large rooms lower down. It's a real find and I'm glad I found it. The stairs are a bit daunting but it's definitely worth the climb.

Very charming place to stay in. Housekeeping missed the fact that some of the towels hanging were from the prior tenant so they let them remain assuming they would be in the room again.

I walked right past when looking for this place, as outside it is unassuming and easy to miss. Inside though, my room was spacious, comfy bed, lovely bathroom, nice design, fantastic breakfast. The staff were nice and free internet too. I really cannot fault this hotel at all. Very highly recommended. I will return, whether business or pleasure. No complaint, just advice. As it is an old building, there is no lift, due to it being a listed building, so maybe not so good for infirm or elderly.

Great location. Friendly reception. Comfortable room Scottish breakfast was served cold. When pointed out it was simply reheated in microwave making most of it too hot to eat [microwave heats from the inside out!!! ] When this was pointed out nithing was done. Should have been offered a fresh breakfast rather than a reheated one....
