Reception and bar. Staff friendly and helpful. Drinks and meals good value for city location. Quiet part of the city but not too far to walk for shops, bars etc.rooms clean and well equipped for short stays. Nice to use a pool to relax. Car parking fees a bit steep!

The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The guy on reception when we arrived to the girl on reception saturday evening. As well as the rest of the staff but these two particularly. The facilities were excellent. We enjoyed the gym, swimming, sauna and steam room. Booked some treatments in which were fantastic. Castlefield is so close to everything, for us Old Trafford and the centre of Manchester for shopping and eating. The breakfast at £7.50 was great, full English cooked breakfast and as much as you would like. We will certainly be returning here.

I live in hotels, supposedly some of the best, so it's testament to the Castlefield that I'll stay there when I return to Manchester when I can stay where I wish. The staff are ever helpfull, the location is superb, and it's parking is secure and reasonable. It's in need of an upgrade now but don't let that put you off. It's good value for the price and has plenty of facilities and a friendly bar. Beware being placed above the Friday night Disco that belts out a tune until 04:00am. It's time the Castlefield secured the locks on the windows, it's a simple job, every window in the rooms I've stayed in dosen't close securely, must be costing a fortune in lost heat.

It was clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I used the pool, sauna and steam room and found the facilities excellent. The food was very good and good value The lounge bar could do with a refurb as there was a lot of odd furniture not really matching although this did not spoil our enjoyment.

Its location was ideal as I stayed overnight to attend a work Christmas function in the hotel vicinity. I was not impressed with the outside signage as I was unsure where to access the carpark then where to access the front doot of the hotel. My first and over riding impression was that the whole place needed painting and a general make over. It was low end economy class and as it was so much in need of painting, it appeared grubby !!

We were extreamly disappointed at the notice that the gym and leisure faciliities were unavaliable for the duration of our stay. Staff I dont believe would have said anything if we hadnt questioned it. You have our email address and you should have informed me. This one and only reason for booking the hotel. Upon arrival back at night yet another notice stating breakfast would be avaliable from 9am not 8am as advertised. Room service trays had been left in the corridor and were there upon our arrival and still their upon departure. Breakfast despite being served an hour later than advertised, had six out of date yoghurts avaliable. Why couldnt you contact me prior to arrival so Icould have made an informed choice about continuing with the booking?

The health centre and pool was a bonus The staff were helpful, friendly. It was a busy time of year The cooking facilities were poor when we arrived and throughout the following day, E.G. The deep frier at time of lunch on first day was broken and therefore the food selection was very limited, and coffee machine at first breakfast was also broken! we had no phone in one of the rooms but a member of staff saw to that as soon as she could. This hotel would benefit with an on-site manager to tweak details and it could be fantastic.

It was our 2nd visit - we stayed as a couple in august 2011 and were impressed with facilities. We returned as a family with our 2 teenage sons who enjoyed it too. We made use of the gym and swimming pool and visited the science museum just over the road. The only negative was that on our last stay, our breakfast was cold, so we decided to just book our rooms this time without breakfast. However, everything else is excellent and we look forward to going back On our last visit, we ordered breakfast which was cold and not to such a great standard. This time we didnt order breakfast and stayed in a room only deal. However, we are planning to return soon as we enjoy the rest of the hotel and facilities but just won`t have breakfast.

Good location, walking distance from the centre, lovely swimming pool and a good gym. I didn't enjoy their breakfast though, but not an issue, would go back there.

It was clean and the staff friendly and efficient. It was close to city centre but far enough away not to be too busy. It was just before Christmas and I think there must have been people on company Christmas parties staying. They arrived back at the hotel between 12:00 and 03:00 and were very noisy - not the hotel's fault but didn't make for a good night's sleep.

Despite asking for a quiet room on booking I wasn't told that there was an event running on the hotel that evening. The music was unbelievably loud and went until 1am. I realise the hotel makes its money with large events, but it would have been more appropriate if I had been informed of this on booking and then I could have chosen to go somewhere else. The response of the staff/manager (that room is usually quiet, that I was not directly above the music but one floor above (!), that no one else had complained) made it seem like it was me being unreasonable, which I really resented - they didn't take me up on my offer to come up to the room and judge for themselves whether I was overreacting. They weren't able to move me because the hotel was full, although they did reduce the price of the room a bit - small comfort really. I would suggest that next time they have an event on, they take a walk to that floor and that end of the corridor and decide whether or not they can hear the music.

This was the 2nd time at this hotel which we find very comfortable and relaxing, the staff are very helpful and friendly. Thebar meals are also very good and good value for money. Will book again for a city break as enjoy just being on the edge of the city but still convenient for buses and taxis

The bed was uncomfortable!! The room was not as clean as you would expect! I found other peoples hair all over the room! There was also an interesting hand drawn picture in room 306 by the wardrobe which I think needs removing!!
