Excellently situated for Opera House and not too long a walk to shopping centre Room very large with a king-size bed and single in the room even though there was only myself and my adult daughter. All but one of the staff were very helpful. The male receptionist gave me plasters for my blister when I arrived and they looked after our suitcases after we checked out Crack in basin. One of the female staff didn't smile when smiled at, which seemed a bit odd. Breakfast OK but baked beans and orange juice not very tasty

the pillows Pub was full of noisy football fans and it was impossible to get a table or any food (saturday lunch 30/3/13). Beer in bar was off - pointed this out to barstaff who 'fixed' the barrel then poured another cloudy pint claiming it was a 'slow clear' beer and would clear in a few minutes, I've drunk beer for years and never heard that one - I had a lager instead. Breakfast - fried eggs were cold, bacon burnt, sausages black on top and pink underneath, black pudding was cremated, the only bit that was any good was the coffee - shame it was served with dirty cutlery and cups.

Fiendly staff. Pool facilities Chapel Excellent freshly cooked breakfast to order Represents good value for city centre Paid extra for a kind double room. No mattress protector and flimsy, polycotton see-through sheet. Bed uncomfortable. Very basic toiletries £10 to use car park Requested a quiet room away from traffic. Placed in room on roadside next to lift motor and shaft! No private changing facilities for pool.

My husband and I (age 70) were offered a quiet room, and it was very quiet. We slept really well in it. The bathroom was nicer than in some other hotels, with a good shower. There was plenty of tea and coffee provided. We enjoyed our breakfast as well. The television steadfastly refused to work and we wasted the best part of an hour trying to get the news at 10.
