We enjoyed our short stay at the castle green hotel. Highlights are; Some great beers in the pub Pool and fitness centre Full English buffet breakfast Varied dinner in the hotel Nice views of the countryside Rooms are pretty basic, but comfortable and clean. Certainly would stay again. Some of the staff seemed a little stiff and impersonal.... Not a big deal, but a few more smiles wouldn't hurt.

Staying at the Castle Green provided the much needed “get away from it all” weekend break. The accommodation was lovely; the bedroom had a small balcony with beautiful views over the grounds and distant hills. The members of staff were really first class in fact they treated us and all their clientele like vip’S. They all were a credit to the management We didn’t eat in the dining room apart from the sumptuous breakfast but chose to eat in the Alexander pub in the hotel grounds......best pub food I have eaten! We will definitely stay there again Mike and Kerry

Staff were excellent and the hotel was beautiful I think the price was a bit expensive. We paid £108 and had a view of a car park. I think it would be better to have a pay scale for different rooms/views

Hotel location is great for visiting the white Scar cave and lake areas. Check in was quick and easy, breakfast is ok. Short walk to Kendal city center My booking was for a room of one single and one double bed as per the picture in booking, however; the photo is incorrect and they charged me for extra bed!!!!!

The food at the pub was delicious and definately better than any pub food I have tasted before. The room had damp all over the ceiling and the radiator was temperamental. The room and bed was tiny. Not worth the money in my opinion. The receptionist upon checking in was also pretty stuck up.

Mostly everything - lovely hotel. Very clean and well presented. Breakfast good. Staff very efficient and helpful. I emailed a question before my stay and this was dealt with immediately. Alexanders pub is not linked directly to hotel and is down a flight of stairs so not easy to access for the elderly. Good food though.

The room was nice and the grounds outside were lovely ,the two meals we had were also lovely and plenty of choice at the breakfast buffet The hotel is more of a wedding venue as during our stay there was three weddings going on the recepection area was full we couldnt sit and relax due to all of this, also the hotel ask you to book for your meal we did this and both times we were told we need the table back at such a time so we were rushed.also no lift to our floor had to carry suit case up the stairs,we felt the hotel is not for relaxing or short breaks but for weddings and business/conference/events

Throughout our visit we found all the staff to be very friendly and efficient from the management down to the chambermaids. Our room was always clean kept stocked with shower gel, tea, coffee etc. The main restuaraunt and the pub both served excellent food at a reasonable price. A thoroughly enjoyable stay !

Lovely gardens and very peaceful. Clean and mostly well organised hotel. Friendly, helpful staff. The smoking area was right in front of the hotel entrance which made it smell of smoke. Breakfast at the weekends needed to be better organised. No tables ready so waiting for them. Even though they had coffee available it was a bitof a nuisance.

Excellent staff service - attentive, happy, eager to assist. All categories of staff greeted the clients properly and constantly - good training. Front desk very good - allowed to make instant decisions on rooms offered and also pricing. Pillows too hard for one of us - probably need to provide feather pillows as well.

Comfortable beds. Great bathroom. Good size room. Excellent heating in cold weather. A bit pricey for room only. Awkward parking. Third visit to the onsite pub and food of variable quality again. Second visit to this hotel and problems with their chip and machine pin again. Checkout delayed while sole receptionist took another booking even though 3/4 other people visible in the back office.

The hotel is in a loveley location on a hill looking over Kendal. There is a pool which I love if I'm staying over, it just gives the hotel stay another pleasure, beside having breakfast included in the price! The price was excellent.
