Score from 73 reviews Fabulous
Friendly staff. Generous food portions. comfortable bed. Clean sheets. Sufficient clean towels and soap.
Shower not working properly. Interior of room needs improvement. 1 loose electrical socket. 1 socket not seeming to function (I was advised there may be a switch to flip, but could not locate it). Could hear muffled voices in neighbouring rooms at night.
The overall stay
Could of been quieter
The staff were excellent, they were friendly and looked after us well. The breakfast was lovely.
The room was a bit tired, and could do with some attention, however this didn't matter to us as we wanted somewhere to sleep and it was good value for money
Noise outside from gangs of teenagers Windows single glazed and did not shut properly. Hotel very dated and could do with a refurbishment. Limited parking. Old pipe system for heating (didnt work or was not switched on)
First night of stay, food and service was outstanding
poor ventilation in the room, we were given a fan which wasnt much help as the feet and fan mounting were broken. Breakfast on Saturday was mediochre and lukewarm, dinner on Saturday was poor, in fact one meal, the tagliatelle was swimming in oil and inedible!!!!, we were also given wrong times for Sunday breakfast and consequently we had no breakfast although we were offered tea and toast at the full breakfast price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good location, nice staff, good value for money
Although designated non-smoking, the room smelt like previous occupant(s) had smoked in the room.
3 minutes from bus, railway stn and shopping.Excelent touring base for Brecon Beacons national park.
Parking is free after 6pm,however at 8am cars must be either removed from the lot,or put on a meter
clean and a central location
noisy form outside. very warm in hotel
the hotel has been run (Sunday afternoon - evening) by two people, one of them the cook. dinner (remainings from lunch) were extremely poor. Service due to lack of personell very poor.
comfortable bed good sleep . very reasonable bar prices staff polite and freindly
no draw front on bedside cabinet breakfast very poor quality and cold had to pay £5.50 for a bowl of cereal for a 3 year old child . discusting price
Location is amazing, right on the doorstep of everything that the town has to offer.
The hotel is rather old and wasn't renovated. There is a note of new ownership so I hope it can yet turn to better!
Wi Fi didn't work. Room was far too hot with no windows to open. Breakfast was extra. No on site parking. Tatty everywhere
Room a bit dilapidated and too hot (a hot central heating pipe ran through the room)
We only stayed one night but the service we received was excellent. Our room was very clean and the service was very friendly. Would use again and probably will
The outside of the hotel could do with cleaning up a little but having said that they are doing a lot of road alterations around the area
Out by 11am
The central location was good. The price we paid (£25 each) was very reasonable, even though we didn't have breakfast as we were leaving so early in the morning.
Quite a lot of noise from outside as we stayed on a Friday night. Damp on the bathroom wall. The shower was useless, just a dribble which was freezing to start them boiling.
Location above all, and service .Bed clean and comfortable.
Shower could not be used, no cold water.
wi fi restaurant just about ok
very tired looking hotel. The room had single glazed windows with 2 small opening fan lights, the heating system is a single pipe system so even when the rad was turned off the pipes were red hot, as was the room, the Friday night revellers made constant noise until 3am outside the hotel so because of the single glazing and need to keep the windows open because of the heat, it was impossible to sleep. I have stayed in this town many times but in a premier inn which is much nicer and cheaper
Bed was extremely hard and very uncomfortable, unable to sleep. Room on third floor very very hot. Windows are open but had to close them and suffer as so much loud noise from road outside. Lots of screaming and shouting from people late at night leaving pubs and hanging around. Walls in room very thin so could hear very noisy inconsiderate neighbours in next room banging doors, talking late into night. No hairdryer in room , shower awful as just a trickle. Food in restaurant was very nice though, and a good meal. The bar and restaurant require a lick of paint and modernising as does the whole hotel really. We were meant to stay for two nights but after no sleep the first night, we checked out one day early to get home to comfort of own beds. Only benefit of hotel is cheap price and proximity to Brecon beacons national park. Basic but clean accommodation for those who are heavy sleepers only!!
next to bus terminal. also supermarket, restraurants and stores are just few minutes walk.
Telephone not working in the rm I was given. Was also very noisy perharps because it was a Friday night couldn't sleep. Mirror light in bathroom very dusty gave the impression no one had been in that room for ages. Paid for breakfast but dint get one and didn't get refunded either in spite of complaining but morning staff said only the boss could refund and was not going to be around till later.
Easy access to Brecon Beacons area for hikers. If you do not want to have much comfort than it is okay.
Staff for breakfast serving did not seem to be very engaged doing the job. Cold breakfast buffet was poor in comparison to other hotels I stayed before for the same price or even cheaper. Actually you did not get the value for money.
Breakfast and room
Nothing was that bad
