Staff were friendly and location is town centre
First room had to be changed as there was no sound proofing between rooms and it was like next door was in my room. One out of 3 irons worked and this was leaking water and burnt marks on it. Bedroom in general is ok - not great but not bad either
breakfast terrible understaffed expensive and rooms were terrible
friendly staff excellent food ample breakfast, good size room
The hotel was convenient for my requirements and for a region not well known for sophistication it was a traditional but somewhat careworn establishment that served my purpose.
The bed was not comfortable. The mattress was lumpy and of the two pillows, one was too hard and the other too soft.
Good value for money, but a bit basic in parts.
Locals frequent the bar (which is quite pleasant) but swearing and loud behaviour, needs to be sorted.
Liked the price and the location. It was good there was a car park close. I needed Wi-Fi, so I chose your hotel because of that.
One of the taps was somewhat broken in the bathroom, it wasn't holding properly. I didn't like that I could hear other people watching TV in the other room also drunk people outside making noise when I was trying to get some sleep.
It was clean with friendly staff
We had to pay for parking. Surely the hotel could reserve parking spaces
Very Friendly and Helpful Staff.
This hotel woul be perfect if the local highways agency fix the noisy grid outside the hotel. Apart from a luck of paint the hotel is great.
good location , friendly staff, nice size room bedding and towels nice and crisp.
could do with a little tlc eg., deco and carpets
Size of room
People unfriendly; drinkers in doorway; electrics unsafe; hot water pipes & lack of ventilation - left hotel 3 hours after arrival! Temperature over 30C! Unclean/run-down
Beds an bedding were clean.
Bathroom was appalling. Should not be still in use for guests. Electrics were dangerous and faulty. Could not open windows on very hot night. Will not be staying again.
Staff where frendly, room was clean, in the town centrr so plenty to do, lovely rooms
Was very hot in the room at night, did ask for a smoking room when booking but dint get one
the room was a bit shabby but I didn t expect luxury for a budget hotel
The hotel was really good really enjoyed our stay ..all the staff made us really welcome and were really helpful
Location was great for pubs and shopping and both buses and trains.rooms were comfortable and clean.bathroom was excellent.
Easy access to Taff Trail with glorous countryside, river gorge, cliffs, old viaducts close by. ideal for running / cycling. Crawshay ironworks worth a vist for industrial archaeology. Rail journey from cardiff along the valley picturesque. Wild orchids on roundabout. What more could you want?
Good central location and good sized rooms.
friendly welcome, upgraded to suite without request.
Castle Hotel is adequate for what it is reasonable price compared to other hotels in the area. Staff really good the hotel is a bit rundown but they seem to be doing the best they can amid the circumstances we parked outside the hotel. Free wifi plenty of tea & coffee and a large room.
Thought we were closer to Brecon Beacons, the hotel is rundown but adequate it is in a dodgy area close to discos and pubs with roadwork and building works of the town being undertaken. Shutters on all the shops in the town centre did not give a great impression.
good value single occupancy of double room + full breakfast @£44.50 - breakfast offered as 2 alternatives: one for meat eaters & second for vegetarians - excellent to see this as many hotels make vegetarians feel second rate & don't offer equal options - this hotel is also centrally located for bus station & event in town which I attended
I'm not a mobile user & couldn't use the room phone to make an outside call - that's (techno) life!
Arranged this visit for my parents to celebrate my father's 80th Birthday. Excellent stay. Good service very clean hotel. Friendly and very helpful staff. Lovely food. They hope to visit again.
Central location,close to all auminities.
Nice large room, comfortable beds, clean linen.
Loose sockets - didn't feel safe. Bedside lamp didn't work.
