The location just south of the Brecon Beacons is ideal for walks in the national park, since lots of walks can be done within half an hours drive. The staff at the hotel are friendly, and the rooms were clean, also they were a little bit dated. There is a locked car park adjacent to the hotel, for which you have to pay during the day, but its free in the evenings and weekends. Overall I would say that it is good value for money. Nothing bad to say about the hotel itself, since I did not expect anything more for the price I payed. When it comes to going out for food in the evening, the location is not very good, since the only things we found was a rather rough looking Wetherspoon Pub, and some Asian food places. It is probably worth taking the car to go to the Leisure complex for dinner, but we only found out about it at the end of our stay.

Breakfast was ok. The lights didn't work ,the tv didn't work , the hairdryer didn't work, the shower was impossible to use if you are over 4ft tall, the place was filthy and the bed smelled. In the bar I asked for a coke and was handed a can with Father Christmas on it (it's april !) - how long had that been there?

Great value for the room. We were quickly moved to another room when we discovered that our room had not been cleaned. When we checked in at 4:30 our room we went in was not cleaned and the housekeeping staff had gone home. Apparently they had missed a few rooms that day.

Basically, you get what you pay for and more, as a company we have travelled all over the uk, and value for money, it will exceed expectation.

The welcome from the receptionist was excellent, straight away you felt at ease and in safe hands. The Castle Hotel ticked all my boxes for a one night business trip. My French colleagues were made up with the price and the free Wi Fi.

It's convenient location not far from Cardiff. As a group of four we were attending the Wales v Italy rubgy 6 Nations at Cardiff. Travelling from North Wales this was a very convenient stop over on the Friday night. The car parking was secure. The staff were very friendly and the service excellent. The breakfast was freshly cooked and plentiful. Rooms were clean. Would recommend it as a first rate stop over for Cardiff. Will book again.

The location was excellent, free parking up the road. All staff I met were great, and the food in the hotel was very good especially the curry. Wifi available throughout though, and at a good speed. Rooms are a little dated, and could do with a little modernising. But everything worked and bed was very comfy.

I only came for one night in order to attend a funeral, but I was made as welcome as if I was staying for longer. The room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean with tea-making facilities and bathroom amenities. I had an excellent night's rest in a very comfortable bed! The location is excellent, being near the train/bus station and taxi service as well as a variety of good shops. All staff were very pleasant and helpful. It was a pity my visit was so short as I did not get the opportunity to sample the variety of food on offer in the restaurant. However, all my friends lunch there regularly and recommend it highly, so if/when I return to Merthyr Tydfil I will make sure I return to the Castle Hotel.
