We stayed four nights at Castlemead and wish it had been longer. The view from our bedroom window (same view from the restaurant windows), included a 12c church to the left, a 12c castle to the right, the beach straight ahead and a pasture of sheep below. Scenic and challenging coastal hikes in each direction from the beach span breathtaking cliffs, tidal pools, beaches, and pastoral fields. The restaurant offers delicious, innovative, healthy cuisine in an elegant, yet also family-friendly space. The breakfast (included) and dinner menus featured local, seasonal products. The management was warm, welcoming and efficient. They were always ready to pour a pint when we returned from spectacular hikes. Castlemead has wi-fi and a TV in each room (which we never turned on), but is perfect for guests who like to relax in an old fashioned, cozy atmosphere and style. The village is small and quiet.
