Nicely decorated rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely breakfast. Shops, restaurants and pubs within 5 minutes walk.
Mugs in room were dirty but quickly changed when requested. Hairs in the bath.
Great location, excellent service, lovely room service breakfast.
Room a little small, unable to connect to wi-fi.
The suite The bathroom The bar Breakfast Staff very friendly
The mattress was sagging on one side which meant I didn't get the greatest night sleep The bath plug didn't work The room (23) could probably do with a lick of paint
Breakfast was good. Bed was comfortable.
Very small room which for the price was disappointing cramming a big bed into a small space does not make a luxuary king size room! Bathroom needed attention. Toilet seat was broken and obviously had been for sometime.
Super friendly staff...couldn't have been more helpful! Thank you
The location was good as was the room in general, comfy bed and nice decor and while the hotel is very pleasant the whole package just didn't live up to expectations sadly.
Staff were not particularly helpful-no offer of help with bags and I couldn't find the lift to my floor and had to return to receotion twice to ask where it was.On the site I was led to believe there was a gym which was in fact a 25 minute walk away-ridiculous! Thats a work out in itself. The bedside light wasn't working and I could not access wi fi which I needed for work.I had paid extra for an upgraded room but wasn't sure how this was an upgrade. No biscuits with the tea and coffee which is a small but often appreciated thing.
not alot expensive /not even freeview t,v,wont be stopping again
very poor reception staff 2 young guys didnt seem to care about anything a geust was asking very rude to both of us 1 foreign girl more helpful but guys seemed to think they at some kind of fashion show .and thats all that mattered
Good F and B, very good Staff
The curtain in our room was broken - we were told it was scheduled to be fixed the following day (which is when we were leaving!)
Location is perfect, breakfast and service very good, nice entrance to the hotel
Doors banging, noisy family which the management should have done more to keep quiet. Room was too small for a king size bed. Definetly not a king size room as advertised.
The building, the breakfast and dining room and the location. Reasonable prices.
Beds were really soft and uncomfortable. Booking had been miscommunicated, so no extra bed available on arrival and no solution offered, not even extra sheets. Shower was weak and fittings flimsy. Lift not working and aircon faulty so too hot.
Public areas are great but they dont make the best of them. This would be a smashing hotel if they looked after the finer points and the customer service
This would have been a lovely hotel when it was first converted but I don't think they maintain it properly. The lift wasn't working, the shower was faulty and there were bits dropping off the furniture. Also, I noticed damaged plaster etc in the corridors, mucky carpets and the like. The staff need a little bit of customer training as well. They are only small gripes but it does mean that the hotel is not fulflling its potential and is not really value for money. We could have stayed in Jury's Inn round the corner for £20 less each. If the cleanliness, maintenance and service here was as good as Jury's then no-one would mind paying the extra for a special atmosphere and building.
Being from Derby I don’t usually have a reason to stop here, but it was a special occasion (my new husband and I were having a party in Derby to celebrate our wedding abroad). We decided to book a night at this hotel so we could get ready for our party and have somewhere nice to come back to. We checked in late afternoon and I explained to the young man on reception that it was our wedding reception so they’d see me shortly in my dress and my husband in his suit. We ordered two coffees through room service to drink before we left for our reception, but the coffees took 40 minutes to arrive, by which point I was in my wedding dress and we were literally just about to leave the hotel. We explained that we didn’t want them after this long wait. Breakfast the following morning was nice, although the service incredibly slow. This is my 4th visit to the restaurant here and I don’t know whether it’s due to the size of the room, but you tend to get seated and then forgotten about. You never see the same member of waiting staff twice, and it’s really hard to catch anyone’s attention. Even just to place your order! The staff seemed more keen on refilling half-full jugs of juice than attending to customers in front of them. I have found this on every visit and it becomes more and more frustrating. You start spending more time trying to catch people’s attention than enjoying the food and drink. I realise this all sounds a little trivial, but when this is not only my fourth bad visit (2nd overnight stay, plus 2 visits for afternoon tea), but also my wedding I had hoped for a little more attention from the staff. Perhaps I’m being silly expecting a ‘congratulations’ when I am stood in reception in my wedding dress? I don’t think the staff batted an eyelid. This could be a stunning hotel, the staff needs an overhaul and the actual hotel needs a bit of TLC.
A classy four star Hotel inc a great breakfast for a highly discounted rate !
Wifi is poor
Convenient. Comfortable bed.
At this price we expect a pot of coffee at breakfast, not just a cup at the very start.
the staff the room the dining room
Nice location, nice decor, friendly staff.
Elevator was not working at 3rd floor where room was. Breakfast had little (but satisfying) options)
Room was nice, luxury curtains, bed was lovely n comfy, breakfast was excellent
Bathroom could of been bigger,tv channel selection was poor,it wasn't made clear at breakfast wether we could have cereals and a cooked breakfast or just one choice
Peaceful; very good central location; friendly and helpful staff.
Restaurant closed Sundays and Mondays. No digital television in the room (only four analogue channels). Room size quite small. Wifi broadband speed too slow for streaming.
Breakfast and location.
Parking is in local car parks. Rooms are OK but small.
The Ambience of hotel. Helpful staff
Very poor wifi. Restuarant closed on Sunday. £2.50 for 25cl of water from mini bar - ridiculous price
The comfortable bed. The excellent bathroom 24 hour access
The price. Felt that it offered an experience only on a par with the nearby Holiday Inn at a much higher price. Found the traditional cooked breakfast disappointing: overcooked bacon, almost too hard to eat, tasteless sausages and black pudding. Too much attention paid to presentation than providing tasty food. Thought advertising 'having six pillows' as a selling point vry strange.
The bar is a plus.
Very hot in the room, no AC just a noisy fan.
