Beautiful decor Location The large bell on the reception counter Breakfast Wifi in the bedroom
Bedding a bit too hot for me Cathedral bells ringing all night for some reason Staff needs more local knowledge Wifi in the breakfast room did not work Very few TV and radio channels
Facilities of the room,breakfast
Was a little unorganized when I tr to do the reservation
The hotel was absolutely amazing inside and out the room was gorgeous and the bed was very comfy. Would deffinately stay again.
Breakfast was lovely.
I went with my partner and the young gentleman on the desk couldn't have been less pleased at seeing us come through the door. Every bit of conversation was an effort for him. We then got into our room which felt like a carpeted box. Far smaller than we had imagined for £100. The bed wasn't even big enough for me (I'm 5"10 and my feet hung off the edge). The bathroom was lovely, but some of the lamps were broken and we had to call down for more towels as they forgot to put some in the room. It was only when I handed over my card at the end, with my lady ship title on it that the young mans attitude changed towards us and he couldn't have been nicer.
The style and decoration of the room was very nice. Also the location is great.
The tv didn't have many good channels.
Friendly staff Comfy bed
Room inadequately lit Room was too hot and stuffy Breakfast coffee was weak as dishwater and food provided was low standard
The building is lovely
Room was small and lacked the smaller detail..... disappointing
Leaving in the morning
I already have sent a long email direct to the hotel
Friendly welcome at the desk. Great bar/dining room staff. Good Sunday evening food.
Breakfast was average but with dried up bacon. Only a small down.
The location, the bar food, the helpfulness of the bar/waiting staff; when an item wasn't available from the menu, the chef went out of his way to come up with something that would be acceptable, and the serving staff couldn't have been more helpful.
I've stayed here several times before, from the time it first opened. I come to Derby a couple of times a year and thought this hotel was a litle gem. However, this last visit has been a disaster: I stayed for three nights, the middle of which was Valentine's Day, and found that the cost of that day was almost double that of the Sunday. I had a room on the topfloor at the back, where in the past I have had excellent nights' sleep. On the Friday nght I was kept awake by a local disco until 2.00am. On Saturday it was a live rock band, also until 2.00am. I went down to to the reception to complain, only to be told, "Well, it is an inner-city hotel". I've never had trouble before at this hotel.
very clean and comfortable.
a risk of not being able to park outside..
Bed was extremely comfortable Breakfast was delicious Decor and building itself was lovely Staff were very friendly and helpful
There was a certain smell
Breakfast Room size Bathroom Cathedral bells !
Lighting in reception/lounge No body lotion No bottled water
The look the feel the welcome. The Martini cocktails at the bar
WiFi was very slow
brilliant location, secure carpark only 100 metres from hotel. hotel very clean and oppulent. fab breakfast the morning after. no outside/background noise - peaceful!
room was a bit small and electronic temp control was difficult to master!
The location is great, the history of the building is lovely. Comfy bed and nice linen, breakfast room and waiter service, great cocktails in the bar. Checked in late and wasn't a problem. Nice to have late check-out.
The room we were allocated was small (which we were expecting having booked a junior) but didn't have all of the facilities listed at booking (shower but no bath, no robes). We were however treated really fairly when we spoke to the manager about this, so not a negative overall. The room was pretty chilly when we arrived, but this was put right after we phoned down to reception a couple of times. The staff on reception were a bit hit and miss in terms of getting booking details right and dealing with queries etc. Wifi a bit sketchy.
No wifi in all the rooms as they said
Stayed at this hotel whilst visiting my daughter in Uni, We will be back , such comfortable beds and the breakfast was so good.
Only minor complaint was that the lighting in the room was insufficient .
Gorgeous room and en-suite. Great location for restaurants and bars
No ketchup or condiments offered at breakfast.
Lovely hotel ..great bed and bedding. ..love the breakfast too
For a 4 stars hotel, it didn't really felt that, very cold room would not stay there again during winter and the floor was not in a good shape at all
Breakfast not available before our pick up at 5pm on departure or packed breakfast
It's location was ideal
The room was very small and the wifi didn't work in our room, though they did allow access to wifi in the public rooms
Excellent location for staying in Derby. Quality furnishings and fittings. Bed was very comfortable. Great breakfast.
