It is not a hotel. It is a bed and breakfast apartments. It is not a hotel!!! There is not a reception and after 8 oclock there in no one to welcome you. 2) No heating at all in the rooms 3) Breakfast is served only from 8 till 9 o'clock. Breakfast is poor and specified from the previous night filling a form!!! 4)after 8 in the evening no one is available (no staff) to help you if you need anything. 5)no lifts if you have heavy lungages 6) when I tried to leave from the Catton “hotel” the 2nd day (I had already stayed for the 1st night) they charged me one more night as a penalty so I paid 180 pounds for 1 night!! Bad experience! Better an original hotel!

The room, ensuite and bed were excellent. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. Location for our purposes was good. Too many instructions with consequences. Felt as though we were in school with all the rules. Very squeaky floorboards above our bedroom. Were woken up by them. Host rather up tight - needs to relax a bit more!

Conveniant for city visiting. Quiet and off the beaten track but close to airport and shopping. Welcoming hostess who was happy to make sure our stay was comfortable. No dislikes

The room was nice and the lounge available was roomy. There was a good breakfast menu and freshly cooked food to order(had to place order the night before. Was really a very up market b&b It didn't quite live up to its 5 star rating and was expensive .

Catton Old Hall was a lovely quiet rest byte, full of charm and little quirks, the food was of a very good standard and the honesty bar is a thing you don't see much of, but saying that it proves that there are some honest poeple still about who have faith in others, little books that were dotted about the hall were something to make you stop and take notice of, the peace and quiet of the hall and garden made for a refreshing time just to catch your thoughts. Felt slightly uneasy to start with, but that soon passed, the hall looked beautiful and gave off a certain charm, but only if you don,t look to hard, stanards are standards and should be kept,

I enjoyed all the little extras you have at home but not normally in a guesthouse. Beautiful old house, friendly but discreet service, great breakfast. I liked everything but thought the tv could have been larger and of better sound quality.

The accomodation at Catton Old Hall is excellent. The hotel is very well run and cannot be faulted. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners. The bedrooms are large and everything is clean and well presented. I would rate the accomodation above many 4/5 star hotels. The hotel is situated on the outskirts of Norwich and there are public houses and restaurants nearby for an evening meal. There is a frequent bus service into Norwich just across the road, £3.90 return. Norwich Castle qualifies as the best kept secret for its museum. Inside take time to explore the wildlife exhibits and the paintings.

The building and furnishings were characterful and comfortable. Although the breakfust ingredients were tasty and of high quality, we found the cooked breakfast quite greasy.

This Unique C17th building offered a quiet retreat from city bustle and yet had excellent bus service into Norwich right outside it's gates.Excellent breakfasts, comfortable room and pleasant old-world character.Owners add nice touches to your stay which make it a better experience than the standard hotel and guest house accommodation. The property is outside the inner-ring road of Norwich and could be a good base for touring the Norfolk broads and countryside. Little to dislike about this property.Definately not for children or people who find it difficult climbing stairs.

Good location for access to city. Many original features of the property which enhanced its ambience. Clean rooms with extra facilities and attentive owner. Ideal for couples but comfort and luxury would be wasted on children! Lovely breakfast!

The room was very nice, extremely clean and the breakfast was fresh and tasty. ......... the only problem was that one of the spotlights in the bathroom was partly hanging out of ceiling (but thats just being really picky, on the whole the room was lovely) .. The reception when the owner answered the door was frosty to say the least, no smile or welcome, we were quickly shown to our room, we were disappointed to find there were no evening meal facilities and had to get a taxi or drive to the nearest pub/restaurant. (Strict policy of no takeaways being able to be delivered to the property)..... The honesty bar was of course unmanned and had little stock - I am diabetic and can only drink sugar free drinks and there were no diet cokes or other drinks available for me, when we rang the bell twice as we wanted to ask a question, no one answered or came to see us. Disappointing, could be a lovely place as the building & rooms are lovely and it was very clean - lacking hospitality & friendliness though.

We loved the building and its history. Food was good too and they catered for my gluten free diet. It was a bit of a nuisance having to go downstairs for fresh milk would have preferred more pots of milk in the bedroom.

The room I stayed in was called 'Sewell' as in Ann Sewell (of Black Beauty fame) and it was as near perfect for me as it is possible to get. I really enjoyed my stay. Sadly, I have to say I would heve to consider carefully before staying again because there was no facility for evening meal in the Hall. Going out would probably involve booking a table which you might not be able to do on short notice.

Lovely historical building dating back to the 1600s. With that comes lots of quirky characteristics, uneven stairs, oak beams and squeeky floorboards but no ghosts!! Food was delicious, well presented and hygenic, with plenty of choice.
