Staff very friendly
Bathroom, found the floor slippery even when dry. Shower curtain not big enough to give you enough space in shower
Good location. Friendly staff.
A bit run down.
We were told the hotel is family run, this made sense when we experienced a lovely time at the Cavendish. The staff were absolutely wonderful, and couldnt do enough to help. They made a good effort at the entertainment, with live musicians each night, and were enjoyable. The hotel is clean, although really old. Enjoyed a lovely weekend there, at a very reasonable price. Thanks to the Staff !
Hotel building is really old, and could do with knocking down and starting again really, but the good out weigh the bad.
big car park. local to town. rooms spacious. breakfast very nice.
hotel needs a bit of TLC. a few clacks, old dripping bath taps. but most of all room 102 has the same key as another room, as we found out at 1am, when our door was opened
Great location Very helpful staff Good last minute value
Cabaret resounded around room Friday night till late noise from 'neighbours' sounded really close late at night no double glazing pool really small Unclear directions to restaurant, and how/where to be seated. Breakfast quite small when it arrived
Swimming pools and the bed was comfy
Location, Staff, Breakfast, Clean, Quite area, Free Parking
It's a nice Hotel with good facilities but it's so Old you can smell you can feel old atmosphere. It's need to be repair. Breakfast service too slow. Customers ages 65+ mostly.
Being filmed by a crew without my prior knowledge!!!!!
The waiters at breakfast were really friendly and welcoming as we're all the front of house staff. The big outdoor pool was fantastic really warm. The indoor pool was small but very cosy and warm like a bath.kids loved it!
Breakfast slot was only one hour long . Full English breakfast wasn't full ! It wasn't particularly visually appealing, though it filled us up.Bedroom 103 we had, was directly over one of the entertainment areas (although 2 floors below us ) and it was tremendously loud. It only happened one night out of the four we had. People directly above us were banging and clattering for two hours early in the morning! A couple of the elderly male guests (part of a bus tour I believe ) were very loud and inconsiderate and one of them was swearing their heads off even though He could see a children's film was being played for our children !!! I was gobsmacked . This was near the reception / lounge area. We left before it had finished and went to our room early, because of this.!!
The indoor and outdoor pool are warm and clean, the food is very good
The rooms and decor are a bit worn and tired
Pleasant staff and free parking. Great location. I asked for Earl Grey tea, Maggie`s answer was `What`s wrong with Tetley?`, funny or is it?
Walls and ceiling could do with a fresh coat of paint, carpet needs changing, plumbing/fixtures and fittings need updating. Sheets and towels needs to be binned and new ones put in, Primark anyone... Both pools need a good clean, fire door locked by metal padlock in indoor pool area... In serious need of refurbishment and updating...
Friendly Staff Relaxed ambience swimming pools games room bar decent breakfast location comfortable beds big screen showing kids films
some of the décor was a bit dated didn't smell particularly fresh No TV room
Filthy rooms, smells, water coming through the ceiling, food cold poor quality, dirty cutlery, milk served in a broken teapot. toilet cistern broke, no shelves, no hooks on bathroom door. very poor stare of repair
Tthe staff were excellent, very helpful and friendly, I couldn't fault them.
The decor of the hotel is very dated and well worn, our toilet didn't flush properly and the mattresses were incredibly hard. It badly needs a revamp.
ALL OF IT
bar was expensive
Friendly staff,nice music.
No parking space, indoore swimming poole closure, broken toilet
the breakfast serving staff were excellent, knew what they were doing, lovely service,. very attentive, nothing was to much.
The hotel had cameras recording for a channel four show, this was fine but the noise from the camera cooling system outside our room went on all night like a car engine running, we couldn't sleep and were told they couldn't turn it off and there were no other rooms..so after a second night in room 17 we left. The shower didn't work.Tthe bedroom window on the ground floor didn't close shut. The indoor swimming pool was close, several reasons given. The reception area was manned but some of the staff didn't know what to do and told us so. Whilst serving customers the bar man poured him self a beer and continued to drink it while serving customers !!!!. The entertainment which was open to the public which was fine, took precedence over paying guests, definitely not three star service. We booked here for a peaceful break and an indoor swim, we will not be returning.
Proximity to sea front Breakfast staff were cheerful, helpful and efficient Kids play area and games room
Noise from other rooms, could hear everything through walls/ceiling, kept awake till midnight every night and woken at 5.30 am every morning of stay :-( Mouldy shower Tv cameras everywhere
hotel is dirty shabby wouldnt let my dog stay here then they are recording for channel 4 so decide to have a gay pride day and night didnt inform us of this trying to explain to my 7 year old about drunken transvestites. the rooms all have water stains the bathrooms are filthy
Close to town
The bathroom was poorly cleaned, the decor didn't match. The tea making facilities were awful and noise seemed to carry through the walls.
The staff were excellent, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It was very relaxed, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, absolutely loved Mark the entertainment manager, so funny.
At breakfast it was either juice or cereal. But the next morning had a different waitress and we had both.
1. The staff go out of their way for you 2. The location is perfect 3. The hotel is clean and rooms are lovely (deluxe then extension to holiday we had upgrade double) 4.entertainment was cracking
The thought of going home lol People must remember this is an old hotel (like most of the torquay hotels) so yes there are creaks and a little damp in odd spots but it's clean and friendly and warm hotel..
Location and ease of parking fine, near to shops and buses.
Waiter didn't understand instructions, brought wrong items.
Some of the Staff where quite friendly, helpful and always there to for a laugh very professional. Except when we where about to check out We found the lady that checked us out seemed to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed, very moody and abrupt.
The hotel wasn't worth the £130:00 we paid for the night, room was in a terrible state walls where damp, bathroom furnishing was mouldy and breaking apart, bathroom stank of damp, the environment gave a feel of chlostophobia, we ended up spending only one night there and booked another hotel for the remainder of our stay 4 days elsewhere and got a much more comfy and well maintained room. Despite requesting a two hour late checkout we where told that we could stay in the room free for those two hours on check in. At checkout the lady rudely demanded that we pay £10 for those two hour. So be ware of what you are verbally told on check in, always have it in writing. Breakfast was terrible, not worth the £5:00 at all, in the dining area there where flies all over the place We had to abandon breakfast and head to McDonald's . The hotel is not a place that I would recommend to anyone, it needs a total revamp as it's standards degrades the name Cavandish.
