We turned up on the wrong day and the staff did their upmost best to ensure we were looked after. From reception to house-keeping to bar to breakfast and finally to check out, the service was outstanding. A memorable stay thanks to the wonderful staff at Cavendish Hotel.
Nothing to fault the hotel or the staff members.
Position and convenience were great; all staff were very pleasant and helpful The fan in the room was very useful
Paying to park in the hotel car park.
We were kindly upgraded to a large suite and interconnecting room so our children could be next to us - hugely appreciated as we hadn't expected or asked for it. Loved the sea view and the sound of crashing waves (once the tribute band had finished). We have stayed in The Grand (in a large suite also), but on this experience prefer The Cavendish. Shame there isn't a pool but that's a minor thing.
Sleep disturbed by people upstairs moving about on creaky floorboards (but appreciate it is an old building).
Location on the sea front Breakfast very good
Room very very hot. Poorly maintained room , mattress very stained , sheet did not cover it and one side of the bed the springs stuck through We were unable to sleep soundly at all
Single room was spacious which was a surprise as often you have barely enough room to swing a cat. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Even though the hotel is opposite the band stand being at the back of the building it was very quiet
Ordered an afternoon Tea as I had invited friends to meet me. There was only two fillings cucumber in white bread and smoke salmon in brown. A tea cake each and one small slice of Victoria sponge, Boring....! Very disappointing and a bit embarrassing. No jeans or Trainers at Dinner. I live in jeans so no dinner for me.
Large suite room, a little sterile in decoration but good beds and settees, etc
The single Lift is ridiculous for such a large hotel! We walked down [4th floor], and that helped..
Locaion, Friendly Staff, Excellent Rooms, Great Breakfast, Overall a very high standard making for a comfortable, peaceful break.
Beds really comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Staff really helpful
some areas of room decor needed attention
Dress code at Sunday lunch was not adhered to and excuses not acceptable.
Spacious and comfortable room. Pleasantness of the staff.o
the staff, the position of the hotel, the car park at the back, the food was good plus the presentation of the food.
The location is wonderful, with great views from the dining room at breakfast and dinner.
Location. Buggy recharging facilities. Parking on site. Good staff
No proper coffee at breakfast, just instant.
Location with the bandstand outside. Sea views are absolutely wonderful and waking up to these views make the stay even better. Breakfasts are delicious and as it is a buffet you eat as much as you like or as little.
The lift can be a little slow, but really thats more nit picking than a complaint.
Extremely courteous and helpful staff. We stayed in a room overlooking the sea which was very spacious and well appointed. Fantastic choice for breakfast, all very fresh and well displayed. Staff at breakfast were particularly smartly dressed and quick to deal with any requests. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.
Fish under cooked. spar closed.
Very large room, quiet, good breakfast.
Poor greeting from uninterested staff on reception.
The staff - they were (and always have been) superb. The management of the hotel do not deserve such good staff.
Accommodation - I booked three double rooms for my sisters and me. Their rooms were ok (thankfully) but ours was disgusting for a 4 star hotel. It was tiny and dark - the single window looked out to a wall. The (so called) bathroom was a 3ft wide partition across the end of the room with a shower at one end and a wc at the other. In a decent hotel it would not even be a single room, it would be a linen store! When I complained, I was offered an 'executive' room at £30.00 extra per night. No way was I going to subject my wife to the original room, so I opted for the exec. That was marginally better - it had a bath, two bath robes and air conditioning. The latter proved to be essential, because the (single) window didn't open and the room soon became unbearably hot and stuffy. As with the original room, there was no view - it was essentially the same room two floors down, albeit slightly larger. Not large enough though to be able to use the wardrobe and have access to the bathroom - one had to close the door to one before opening the other! I've spent most of my working life traveling on business both in the UK and abroad, so have a great deal of experience of hotels around the world. I can honestly say that value for money, last weekend was the worse ever. Then to cap it all, when I asked for the name and business address of the md, I was told that there was not anyone senior enough to give me that information, but 'if it could be given' it would be emailed to me! It is now some 11 hours since I checked out and no email has arrived!
Position good Parking arrangements good 4th floor room with view good Breakfast was swift and food good to average. Everything worked to plan for our one night stay.
A little old fashioned but that is Eastbourne. Also the hotel is a little tired in places. One lift is strained on busy weekends. Decor could be improved. Foyer not what you expect on the Sea Front. A bit urban.
Seafront location, close to all amenities. Excellent breakfast choice.
Only one lift for six floors in total, (including basement/car park) No air con in seafront rooms.
The breakfast was very good with a fast range of items on offer.
Due to late booking we had a dark room out the back with pigeons sitting on the windowsill.
Complimentary upgrade to suite; breakfast, atmosphere, location, staff, amenities
The food is very good as are the staff in the hotel.
That you could only open one window less than an inch, particularly with very high temperatures and sun on the room all day. There was a portable fan and this had to be kept on at night which is not ideal.
The hotel was just great. The sea view was wonderful and waking up to having a great breakfast was welcoming. The rooms were clean and comfortable with plenty of room. We would definitively return.
