Score from 1865 reviews Very good
Our room was a good size with the facilities you'd expect in a 5 star hotel. The bathroom was good with an excellent shower. The spa is nice and we were lucky to have it to ourselves on a weekday afternoon. Bed was comfortable but the new Travelodge beds have it beaten! You could have whatever you liked on the dinner menu with a £4 supplement for this or a £5 supplement for that.
Our room was cold and we were unable to get the heating to change that fact. Breakfast is charged at £15. Fair enough if you want the continental, but if you want a cooked breakfast you're charged an additional £5. Do they think you eat the continental and THEN the cooked? If you don't, in effect you're paying £20 for a straightforward cooked breakfast. The dinner menu was unimaginative and in places poorly executed. For example, saute potatoes that were still slightly crisp in the centre. Lemon meringue "pie" that was so "over cheffed" that it ceased to be lemon meringue pie and was a stick of frozen solid ice cream with no "lemoniness". Raspberries still frozen solid. This is basic stuff. Didn't like the receptionist saying "fantastic" when I gave my name. What's "fantastic" about it?
This hotel was very good. Just a short walk from the town centre.
What a welcome to the beautiful city of York. It was our second visit to this hotel and once again it didn't disappoint. Worth the extra money to stay somewhere like this!
The overall feel,of the place from the doormats welcome is great

The is a beautiful hotel run in an excellent, professional manner. It has everything that you need and more with all local attractions right on the doorstep.
We loved pretty much everything. I particularly liked concierge - really nice people - professional attentive and thoughtful but with a relaxed air.
Room was a little chilly despite leaving heating on whilst out. The bar - not sure it really has to be table service. Leaves people having to wait more than normal and therefore relaxation diminishes....
Fantastic five star experience. Wonderful hotel and outstanding staff throughout. Can't wait to return again.
Nothing to dislike
Excellent hotel . Large clean rooms .
Noisey fridge buzzed all night . Not a very appealing view from room 101
Attentive staff, comfortable bed and room, quiet location,Hudsons good restaurant. Very clean bathrooms.
Traditional British breakfast poor and insipid, second day kipper much better. Public lounges inadequate. Hotel is barely 4 star not 5 and expensive. The standards of the Hudson restaurant were not upheld by the poorly dressed dinner guests, most of whom at breakfast were scruffy and presumably on heavily discounted rates.
Room was comfortable and clean. Staff were very helpful and polite
Air conditioning was very noisy throughout the night
Bathroom was excellent
Bed small like room, problems with needing card business cards not acceptable
Really enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Location excellent. Staff most helpful and cheerful. Good treatments in spa. Comfortable room. Valet parking appreciated. Concierge were most helpful.
Heating did not work in room, so we were cold. An electric heater was provided which worked well but dried the air. The lighting in the room was poor. We could only read with the bedside lights or sitting at the desk. The taps in the bathroom were difficult to adjust as no indication on basins for hot and cold.
Wonderful comfy room and bed. Well worth that little extra money.
My only gripe is that the pool had no disabled access which spoilt it a little.
Excellent from the begining till the end !!!!!!!
-spacious rooms -turn down service -welcome on arrival -friendly and helpful staff
-restaurant; the food tasted fine but the restaurant itself was completely lacking in atmosphere.
Everything was perfect. Couldn't have asked for more. Staff especially were fantastic.
Very comfortable and clean Great location
Our room was gorgeous!
The check out was lengthy and mistakes were made
The food was very poor. We would not dine in the dining room again however the staff were good
Classy. Best hotel in york. Recommend to anyone looking to treat a partner or to Live like a king..
Room was great, staff were excellent. You know you're staying somewhere special.
Breakfast was disappointing, both in terms of quality and choice. Possibly the worst £40 I've ever spent! Not what you'd expect from a 5-star hotel.
We were given an upgrade upon arrival. The staff were excellent and very helpful. The location is fantastic.
Perfect hotel and service, enjoyed our stay a lot!
