The bed that felt like a big rock, dripping tap, staff hoovering at 7 in morning, Fire alarm going off every ten minutes, smelly bed sheets
All of it espically carpet in the bathroom and loo
Rooms were tired, smelled musty, hadn't been hoovered and were not very clean. Breakfast service was bad, although the young waiter was trying hard, he was clearly unsure of what he should be doing.
Wonderful staff and location was a few minutes walk from town centre and railway station.
Rooms could do with a major modernisation. The bathroom had wall fittings from long gone attachments, the toilet seat lid was unattached and propped up on the wall and the shower dripped constantly. The carpets in the hallway and stairs were threadbare in places and a lick of paint throughout would liven up the hotel.
The first room given the door didn't open or close properly, the tv didn't have a signal and wifi was poor in the end they manage to find a room but the situation should be avoid.
Generous portions of food for breakfast and evening.
The general standard of cleanliness fell well short of what I expect. Room was drab and in need of decoration .
would of liked sum small toiletries in shower ie shower gel shampoo as if im honest I did forget mind
Room and facilities were fairly priced. Room was clean Pleasent entrance to hotel. Hotel was quiet Good location for local points of interest.
Radio was damaged and innoperative. Rear car park area was bleak. Hotel was quiet.
The staff that we encountered were very helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was excellent and very hot.
Room could do with a bit of TLC
given a room that hadnt been cleaned since previous guest . dirty towels in bath , dirty coffee cups , dirty wine glasses and bed not made - disgusting had to request to change room - will never use this hotel again
Friendliness of staff
Insufficient clients to give an impression of being up and running
Very clean and comfy bed
Plumbing in our room wasnt great. Put the shower on and it made the most awfull sound and water sprayed every which way.
Staff are friendly and helpfull
Shelf over the sink is falling off the wall all items slid into sink. Shower head leeking, shot water over the top of the shower glass onto the floor
Whoever came in to tidy the rooms, didn't make the bed properly, but they did stand all my sons Lego Hero Factory men up in a battle pose.....which was cool.
Very tired and in need of renovation. The original window frames were rotting, with gaps around the frames, and the inner sliding windows were still about 30 years old and didn't fit properly meaning it was chilly in the room. Given the heating didn't work until the morning we left (after it was looked at by staff the day before) this was a problem. There was no hot water on arrival, and was only available at certain times, and then the bathrooms were so poorly ventilated that the fire alarm went off because of the steam......I had read the reviews before I booked and didn't actually think it would be that bad...I was a disappointed.
Convenience, pleasant staff, value for money, ability to bring dog
Some loss of sleep as room was directly over the bar area with noise coming through until at least 1.30 am
Place was unclean and tatty
The food was excellent - more than sufficient in volume and the price was excellent - e.g. my wife had Scampi & Chips where there were about 25 scampi pieces!
In the short term, (1) the car park will need resurfacing and (2) the Annex Accommodation's ground floor will need re-carpeting and redecoration.
Breakfast good Cleanliness not bad
Very unwelcoming Staff reception good service staff in breakfast room ,not friendly Rooms bland, needs decoration, pictures to give colour.
Staff, location, parking
Standard of decoration
I booked the hotel as place to stay while on a cycling weekend at Cannock chase. I was a little unsure how good it would be seeing as it only cost £50 for the double room. I can only say I was pleasantly surprised. The room was lovely and very clean despite the building looking a little rough from the outside. We had a very peaceful sleep with no noise from the nearby main road. I would definitely stay again.
The car parking area could have been a bit more secure and better organised.
The walls, ceiling, wardrobe and mirror mouldy. Filthy cups, spoons and kettle did not work. Replacement kettle did not boil and actually turned itself on when I was trying to sleep. Carpet filthy and not vacuumed. My daughter and myself started to itch and were being bitten by goodness knows what. We vacated the room before midnight.
Reasonable price, good location for our needs excellent breakfast friendly and helpful staff
Rooms and bar need a face lift and re-fit
Always willing to help and give good service
