Picture perfect building and surroundings, beautifully well maintained gardens, courteous and helpful staff & superb breakfast menu. Surprised to discover that our room had a flight of stairs to encounter in order to enter it. Maybe a good idea to include within the booking process a question regarding customer mobility requirements?

Friendly and informal. We stayed in the house rather than the apartments, and we were happy with our room. The staff were friendly, the restaurant well managed and the variety of food was good. The garden was lovely and it was nice to be able to sit out and read my book. It is on the edge of town, but not too far outside. We made use of the buses, using our Fredom passes rather than the car. Buses branch out to all directions, so very handy We took a while to get used to the menus. The main evening menu did not really appeal to either of us, I think they tried too hard in the masterchef direction. But then we found they had a separate menu, with two main meals for £9.45. Although the choice was more limited, the kind and amount of food was plainer and suited us better We were pleased with this option. Otherwise, it was fine and we were quite happy.

My partner had a golf match at Saunton on the Easter Monday so we made a long weekend of it. The best thing was arriving to find we had chosen well and that the hotel had a lovely setting, was clean and that the staff working behind the reception, bar, restaurant etc. were all as helpful as each other. The team work was very impressive. They were very busy on the Saturday and yet although everyone was getting served and fed, there was a nice sense of relaxed efficiency. That was the reason we went away , to have a totally spoilt, relaxing weekend and that is what we got! Thank you.

Really enjoyed our time at Cedars Inn. Lovely restaurant with fantastic food and the inclusive breakfast was exceptional value for money - it included a cold buffet table of fruit salad and cereal, as well as having a hot breakfast list to choose from. Friendly staff, great bar area and the rooms were modern and clean. Would definitely recommend.

We found Cedars easy to find and staff helpful and friendly. We would stay again if in the area. The only problem we had was that the bathroom fan stayed on all night but it wasnt major.

Looked picturesque from the outside and the Bar area was a nice size The musty smell of the rooms and the black mould in the shower cubicles with peeling ceiling and vent switches out of reach on the ceilings. We had to complain and suggested that the rooms should not have been occupied due to health hazard. It was late so little chance of moving to another hotel. Were told there had been problems with the refurbishments and offered another room which at least did not smell. Our family members came the next day who tried another three rooms all in the same smelly/mouldy condition before deciding to go to another hotel.

Attractive style main building, very inviting upon arrival at night as well lit and the 'cedar' trees highlighted. Staff very friendly from reception to bar to restaurant. Plently of car parking. The room price is very reasonable and the breakfast quite good. Bed extremely comfortable, but the noise for the upstairs room ( 'motel' style block) absolutely appaling. From extreme creaking floors to washbasins/ showers/ toilets being used..especially at 6 in the morning. And none of it the fault or indifference from the occuppant. Simply very old / cheap stlye biulding construction. Can only comment on our room (09)...the bathroom was extremely tired looking/ somewhat 'grubby' and not at all inviting to use! Read as may!. Equally for the money on the night ..£35.00 for two inc. Breakfast..certainly would give another chance!

Since we first stayed at The Cedars the quality of the food served at breakfast has deteriorated. On two mornings we were served with bacon that was like leather having been re cooked or reheated. My wife was served a kipper the size of a sardine with nothing else on a large plate, the dining area had obviously not been cleaned properly as there items of cutlery and food lying under the tables. Not good value for money!!!!!

The staff responded to any request I made The room was cold on arrival - it would have been good for the heating to have been put on - it took a while to warm up. The room was subject to a lot of noise overhead, I was unable to sleep as people came in late above and also got up very early. I dont think they were particularly noisy, I think it was the creaky floor. I was disappointed with my stay - I was trying it out in order to book future stays as I have to be in the area a lot over January/February but dont feel I can now use this hotel.

Staff very approachable and appear to be problem solvers Found it sad that the one of the signs on the hotel stairway and the room 1 key tag was spelt incorrectly ie Tarca instead of Tarka for such a large Hotel group to misspelt such a big part of Devon History

There was a restaurant attached. The advertising neglected to say that there were 2 rooms above the restaurant that were old, small, cramped, & distinctly unappealing. The rest of hotel was a new separate wing which was described in the advertising. So very poor quality for the price. Just happened to be near where we had to go. Would NOT recommend or stay there again.

Location extremely good for seeing local areas. The complaint I made was dealt with politely. refund was made on unused days that I did not wish to take. The staff were polite and helpful in all, areas. Dinner on first night of stay very mediocre, hot breakfast too was of a low standard, although the cold buffet breakfast area was reasonable with a fairly good choice. The dining area needs updating urgently, a very dismal place to eat. imo. The following night went to another hotel for dinner as we did not want to eat here. Had booked what was a superior room for three nights which was in the main building,,windows were very dirty, damp towels left in a heap on the radiator when we returned to the room. Perhaps the standard lodge rooms may be better which are a little distance from the main building. The Cedars may suit some people as a fairly basic place to stay, We previously had booked three nights, but decided to leave after two nights.

well i loved the way staff talked to me and how they booked me and my girlfriend into the lodge, also when we had the problem with t.v when we could not get it to work well i did understand way didn't turn on well i went back and straight away one of the staff came up to the lodge and explained it all, so i was very happy for the with. so i think its a great place for new people to come and see what it is like and the it was the cleanest place i have ever seen for a long time and i like the way it was set out. plus the lodge looked very nice for the money it was worth so it was very good for me and my girlfriend the bed was very comfy i would recommend it to anyone how wants to have a weekend there. i would not mind working there for the respect i got there when i walked in so i thing it is a wonderful place to stay. thank you for letting us two stay there and thank you for the great breakfast in the morning.

“Booking was pleasant and quickly made and confirmation came quickly. A telephoned enquiry was answered promptly, cheerfully and accurately. Our welcome was pleasant and quick. When we requested help in the room porter staff were most willing to help. Our early morning calls came through on time and the morning newspaper was delivered early. I cannot fault the staff. They were happy to give us the best of service. We had a meal in the Bistro and that was superb. After such a welcoming stay we will not hesitate to stay the again. Many thanks for looking after us so well.” Angela, Southampton |
