The hotel was ideally situated for me, i had business only a mile away! I liked the layout of the hotel and the atmosphere was warm and friendly A small point however some of the staff seemed a little inexperienced |

The bedrooms are quite nice, especially the kingsize beds. My dog was allowed to stay - very important. The car park was virtually full as there was a wedding party staying, and i needed to park my car near our bedroom as we leave the dog in the car when we go to breakfast, as it's familiar to her. There seemed to be chaos, again (same thing happened in June of this year when we stayed there) at breakfast! It was self serve in June, but this time we had to order our cooked breakfast, and no-one took our order. We kept having to ask, and same when we needed to order more toast. It was forgotten! They need more staff at breakfast. The wedding party seemed more important to them than us!!!! They also had a problem in the kitchen, resulting in no fried eggs, no poached eggs, basically, only scrambled eggs!! |

Excellent in every category for the price we paid. It is not a luxurious weekend away but comfortable, staff fantastic and food amazing value. Warm and friendly place. Ideal few-day stay for visiting family/friends in the area, exploring Exmoor etc. Have stayed there before. |

liked setting, rooms good did not like the fact that we paid full price and could not change cancel the booking(one week in advance). We did need to go but did not have an alternative date. also found other guests had paid a lot less than us. Restuarant staff were good but not enough working to provide a good service. |

Restaurant staff very efficient, clearly under pressure from staff shortages. I thought that the quality of the food was variable. Some dishes excellent, some mediocre. Service very slow for the above reasons on Friday evening. |

The room was clean and comfortable with a full bathroom. The food in the evening was very good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was served in the conservatory and was excellent. |

My Aunty stayed there and the food was good. Not impressed with the receptionist who stayed on the phone when we were waiting to ask a question in the evening. Her room was out away from the light a short walk going outside from reception. She expected to be in the main building. She felt the taste of the decor was masculine - very dark. |

The breakfast, lunch and dinner were excellent, definitely value for money as all the old english inns, very pretty garden, but did not like the lilies in reception disguising any odours from the toilets which were quite small and to near to the reception area. The Staff were very friendly and attentive, but so slow, they all looked like they had been out or worked very late the evening prior. Some guests felt a need to complain because they had been waiting for a very long time for somebody to serve them. We found it quite entertaining as we were on our holiday and had plenty of time , time for relaxing, but it does seem to be a theme to other old english inns we have stayed at including The Close in Tetbury |

Very conveniently located for the purpose of our visit. Check in and check out was very easy, as was access to the car park. The room was very comfortable, however, it was very noisy as it seemed every movement from the room above could be heard, including the plumbing that sounded as though it was running directly through our room. |

Informal atmosphere with friendly staff, all appeared to originate from around the adjacent area. What a welcome change from having to struggle to make yourself understood. It is impossible not to notice the urgent need for a lick of paint and some remedial woodwork repairs, esecially in the Dining Area. The gardens are neglected in the rear areas and the bedrooms suffer from lack of daylight due to this |

We had an upstairs lodge, it was lovely, very clean & good quality furniture & bathroom, heating was good as it was Oct. The breakfast in the conservatory was fab, staff were good, couldnt have wished for better. No, I thought the setting was lovely, very picturesque when you drove up to it. |
