I liked the staff, the price, and the assistance provided by the hotel. The breakfast was fine and the folks did a great job of accomodating my dietary needs It's a bit annoying if neighbouring guests are loud or unaware that sound travels.

Comfortable bed, lovely bathroom and amazing breakfasts! Wi-fi could be spotty (although you could also ask for a cable), location not perfect but far from awful.

There had been a mix-up in that they did not have a record of my booking for a twin room. Fortunately they were very accommodating and gave us 2 adjacent single rooms for the same price. Rooms were confortable, breakfast was very good.

Lovely, clean and comfortable- lots of attention to detail, nice owner and fabulous breakfasts! I thought it was a really good price for what you got. Thanks to the owners for allowing those on smaller budgets to experience something nice!

The hotel was clean and comfortable. Our room, #4, had a great shower, good twin beds and nice amenities (tea, packets of hot chocolate and coffee, that were replenished daily). The hotel is about a half hour's easy walk from the city center. The owners, Maxx and Annette, were very helpful in advising for transportation to get around Edinburgh. We'd definitely recommend the Hotel Ceilidh-Donia! nothing to dislike - we really enjoyed our stay.

Very well and tastefully presented, friendly welcome, quiet location, good breakfast. I would definitely stay again despite my minor niggles. Minor niggles! If you arrive in the breakfast room while nobody is looking it may be a while before your order is taken. The price increased by £20 between my booking and checking out but they put this right without argument or fuss.

The twin room was very good - facilities, cleanliness, breakfast, and price! The bathroom was nice. A real bargain. There's no elevator in the hotel and I had to pulled my luggage to the second floor. But it is not a big issue.

Almost everything, including the location and the very good bus service. The american breakfast is amazing (warm wafel, crispy bacon and marple syrop - I was hesitating at the begining but it really kicks ***). The last night we spent there there was a problem with the shower, we almost didn't have any water to wash ourselves. As we were the only guests for the night, it was difficult (but normal) to reach out to someone. Anyway it was still a pleasant stay, I definetely recommend this hotel.

I've stayed at the hotel once before a couple of years ago and sought it out again, as the welcome is very warm, they are very efficient, and the rooms are really nicely appointed and extremely comfortable. Breakfast is great and nothing is too much trouble. It is only a very minor minus and I knew about it before I booked, but I was disappointed that the a la carte menu and the availability of a meal in the evening has gone ... They were excellent last time I stayed. Having said that, there are several good eateries within a short walk, so no great problem.

Rooms were comfortable and quiet, excellent breakfast with plenty of choice, good location with bus route into city centre nearby. Friendly staff. Have stayed at Hotel Ceilidh-Donia before but this time the review is slightly less good than before. This is because this time I was travelling with my elderly mother. Although in the booking we had let the hotel know that she had mobility difficulties, when we arrived she was placed in a room on the second floor, up two flights of steep and narrow stairs, which she found very difficult to cope with. There is, however, a ground floor bedroom in the hotel, so those with mobility problems could specify that at the time of booking. My mother also felt that the carpet in her room (9) wasn't as clean as it could be and the shower was also a bit narrow. In fairness, when we mentioned the mobility problem, the hotel did knock a little bit off the bill.

The facilities were very good, we wanted for nothing in the room which was warm and cosy. Breakfast was excellent, all facilities were very good. TV good, tea/coffee making facilities excellent and regularly topped up. Bed comfortable. No noise or disturbance. Hotel is in a quiet residential area but handy for pubs and shops. I would definitely use this hotel again. Information pack was excellent. There was nothing I did not like. I cannot fault the hotel in any way.

The owners provided a warm reception on arrival and were very helpful and accommodating even checking out where we could eat close by as we arrived very late in the evening. We had a quiet room and it was nice to look out on Arthur's Seat in t he morning . There was a great selection for breakfast which was well cooked and just about right in quantity - not too big but with a nice variety on the plate all of which was good quality. I will be staying at the Hotel again in the future.
