The room was great. The bed was very comfortable, and the decor and the soaring ceilings were really lovely. The heated towel rack in the bathroom was particularly nice. Our room faced the road, but it was a very quiet road.
This small hotel was extremely comfortable and clean and offered excellent value for money.
A bit far away from the city centre.
Superb breakfast Friendly helpful staff Very Clean Good location in a thriving area, very close to the centre Close to the Volcano which has amazing views of the city.
Loved the character of the place and the staff were very helpful. Comfortable, easy parking outside, great breakfast. Would definitely stay there again.
Some of the bedding showed water type stains which could probably be removed with a good bleaching. It was all very clean though, but it was a shame that it could have been better. It won't stop me staying there again.
WiFi in the room and the breakfast!
Hotel was chosen as it was within walking distance to a conference we were attending and on street parking was advertised. Parking was disappointing - we had to park 1/2 mile away from the hotel in the wrong direction to the conference we were attending due to parking system in the area as most of the parking was by permit only between 9.30am to 11am. (No permits available in the hotel)
The staff are fantastic, warm friendly and welcoming. The breakfast choice is great and food was delicious.
One tiny remark is on the parking and is permit from 09:30-11:00. there are non-permit spaces around but these seem to fill up. My advice is to arrive after 11:00 when you can park in the permit spaces or early to get a non permit space.
Friendliness of staff and very kind and helpful. My single room was cosy and it shone with clealiness, bathroom was well equipped .
Super friendly and helpful staff Great value Great breakfast choice (included) Well presented and clean rooms
Room was next to front door so had some noise (booked late - was probably last room available so no major complaints)
More upscale than you'd expect for the price. Updated room and bath. Good breakfast. Not downtown, but easily accessible by the frequent and convenient local bus service, or you can walk downtown. (We did both) It's also pretty close if you want to make the climb to Arthur's Seat.
On street parking is now a mix of permit required spots and spots open to anyone. There is a university nearby, so at times parking spots can be scarce as the students use them. But the good news is that once you get a spot you can just leave you car there until you leave since you don't need it to see the sights, save perhaps the Royal Yacht Brittania which is outside the downtown area.
The cosy feeling the hotel has brought.
A little bit far from the centre of Edinburgh.
great value for the price, helpful crew, nice location...
absolutely no negative remark...
It was ok, the room was ok and the staff were very pleasant and polite.
The breakfast ordering I didn't like. I am use to going to hotels were I had options like a buffert. The other thing I missed was a bathtub but the shower was excellent.
Ground floor so no need to lift luggage - wifi availablty good, clean & friendly employees
Bfast menu can add little Indian meal
Friendly and welcoming staff.
The quality and choice of the breakfasts are amazing;better than most 5 star hotels! We plan to book again next year.
Plumbing needed repair but was dealt with promptly.
We had been staying in B&Bs for three weeks and the Hotel Ceilidh-Donia was definitely in the top three. Its location is perfect for taking a short bus ride into Edinburgh. Extremely friendly and helpful staff.
Superb B&B with extremely comfortable room run by very pleasant and hospitable couple. I stayed two nights and would go back if given the chance. Their breakfast is very good and the service is friendly and one can eat outside on their terrace weather permitting. Note that they do not have an elevator nor reserved parking space but this was not an issue for me. They have rooms on the ground floor which I assume can be requested if that is an issue. My room was spacious, very clean, interestingly decorated and silent despite being on the ground floor and facing the street. The bed was very comfortable with a variety of pillows. The owners are friendly but not obstrusive and their recommendations were always dead-on.
The B&B is ~ 30 minutes walk from downtown or 10 minutes by bus. This was not a problem for me as I enjoyed the walk and the buses were frequent. The B&B is located in an old well-maintained residential and affluent neighborhood in proximity to many other B&Bs. The charm of the neighborhood and it's proximity to restaurants, pubs and shopping more than made up for its distance to downtown.
Very friendly staff and a welcoming environment.
helpful and friendly reception cleanliness location
very unsupportive mattress (worn out?) on an otherwise magnificent bed
quiet area, nice people
single room not more than appr. 7 m², puppet furniture, shower room without shelf to put things down
Would prefer something a bit closer to the centre of the city
We spent 4 loveley days in Edinburgh , made even better staying in this hotel , This hotel was clean , comfortable & welcomming which is all we need . for a short break.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast above par. Info provided in advance of stay on location, nearby venues etc was best I have seen.
Very quiet area, comfort bed like being wrapped by silk.
