In an iconic building, with stunning views out over Cardiff Bay, the 5-star St David’s Hotel features a luxury spa, stylish bedrooms and an innovative restaurant. Mermaid Quay is a 5 minute walk away....
Score from 1094 reviews Very good

Score from 125 reviews Excellent
Just off the M4, this 4-star hotel has a fine-dining restaurant and excellent leisure facilities, including an 18-metre swimming pool, a sauna and a steam room.
Score from 514 reviews Good
In 50 acres of stunning grounds, this beautiful manor house combines charming original features and vintage details with contemporary comforts and superb relaxation and spa facilities.
Score from 140 reviews Very good
Our Room was ready earlier than the check in time which was great. Seating at beakfast was efficient and well organised. Really like the support of Welsh businesses with the complimentary tea and welsh cakes in the room. A nice touch.
Some of the decor/furniture in the rooms looks tired and would benefit from being updated and refreshed. I would like to see check in times changed to 2/3pm and would suggest the entertainment for Xmas Parties/ New Year is upgraded and varied in the main suite.
Loved the views, we only stayed a night so don't think it's fair to comment :)
Good facilities Good sized family room Excellent singer Sat night in the lounge area
Cattle market approach at mealtimes...very busy..excellent food but buffet style for such large numbers always an issue Reported room when we got there as dirty cleaning cloths left next to the kettle and cigarette packet and cig ends on balcony...all removed when asked Carpet threadbare on our corridor Parked down in manor house car park but none of the escalators working on Sunday morning....long walk with heavy bags Waited 40 minutes to be served a drink on the Saturday evening Have stayed here before...just felt it had lost its 5 star touch...still a nice weekend in a good hotel just not quite what we were hoping for
location to motorway
laundry trolleys still in corridors at 4.30pm still in use --not enough seating in Olive tree bar area --folk were pinching chairs from tables so couldn't find a seat .Merlin was full of screaming kids parents not in control of their children just running a muck staff should have spoken to the parents.
Cosiness, comfort & Christmassy atmosphere. Friendly & helpful reception staff.
Service from restaurant staff was not up to previous experiences. Some appeared very inexperienced & indifferent. Response to requests e.g. teas & coffees was very slow & haphazard. We were a party of 22 for a 50th birthday meal & at no stage did anyone ask if everything was ok.
Friendly and helpful staff. Cleanliness
Mini bar in room, what minibar. It had to be ordered separately
Space, choice of dining options, welcome from concierge on arrival.
Impersonal service. Not as good as expectations. Too expensive for what you receive. Family room of 4 with only 2 glasses & mugs. Bill at room far too early.
The food was nice
The grounds, staff and choice of good to eat is fab.
During the week (non holiday season), they have nothing at all for children to do which was disappointing.
The breakfast that's all
Olive tree was poor Luke warm food poor selection of meats potatoes like rocks greens poor
Food at Terry M was fantastic.
Staff were the most helpful at front desk when checking in and didn't seem as welcoming due to the booking being made at reduced rate through booking.com
Excellent facilities and great room.
Most expensive buffet I have ever had - restaurant billed as superb choice but very limited, no gravy for roast joint, vegetables soggy and roast potatoes not roasted but fried.
great location ,quiet,& good choice of restaurant
car parking was a challenge but we got there in the end
comfort of our room and all the public areas ,positive attitude of all the staff we encountered.
having to go home in the morning.
Very high standard of finish in every way.
Buffet restaurant a little disappointing
No towels in room on arrival, had to wait 20 minutes until they turned up. Requested room service, never arrived. Long wait at breakfast for coffee, some staff rude when asked.
Room was very comfortable.but overpriced. Leisure centre was excellent.
Paying for parking. Quality of food in buffet Casual attitude/lack of training and management of some staff especially in dining rooms. 5 star building with 3 star service
the staff are very friendly and helpful.the rooms were very clean and comfortable.the food was excellent.the pool area, was very clean and tidy.will defenetly be staying hear again.
nothing to dislike
Hotel is classy and comfortable. Food is great and there is a good range of dining options.
4pm check in is unreasonably late. (In fact, though I was advised more than once that my room wasn't "guaranteed" until 4, I didn't actually have it until 4.15). The previous occupants had to be out by 11 so I don't think it's too much to ask to have your room before dark
Just about everything
Impressive Foyer, Swimming Pool and Spa , Food in Olive Tree Restaurant was Fab , booked B&B breakfast had an excellent choice.
Rooms were very dated and require a re-refurbishment was very disappointed we asked to be moved because we had a smell of sour milk in the mini bar and the wardrobe door was hanging off.
the staff made you feel special from the moment you arrive until you leave. nothing was too much trouble and we were well looked after for the whole of our stay
Cost of alcoholic drinks especially wine
The deluxe room was lovely and comfortable with all the facilities we required. Lovely big comfy bed.
We were advised by the shuttle driver to try the bar downstairs where it opens at 5pm and has happy hour till 7. we went with friends at 5pm to be told it would not open till 5.30pm. not satisfactory. We dined in the French restaurant the food was lovely when I asked for a capuccino coffee was told coffee machine broken not really the standard for this hotel, At breakfast when being given my toast I asked where the butter was on the table madam was the reply. wrong we had to ask for it as none on table. really not good enough.
The hotel, the location, the comfort and the food. The greeting upon arrival by doorman, and the parking of the car. Then, it all went downhill rapidly.
When checking-in, the receptionist said she would organise a car at 7.00 pm to take us to Northbridge on Usk that evening. At 6.55 pm we spoke to concierge (a foreign gentleman) who said he would check for the car - he went through the back door and we never saw him again! At 7.10 pm, fed up with waiting, we spoke to an elderly gentleman (English) at concierge's desk, who said he had just come on shift and didn't know anything about a car for us! A car eventually arrived at 7.20 pm. We were never told by anybody that Northbridge on Usk was miles away - we were expecting something on the complex. The food at Northbridge on Usk was very good, but service very poor. Not once did any waiter or waitress fill our glasses with wine or water (and we consumed 2 bottles of wine!). In brief, apart from the doorman upon arrival, my suggestion is to sack the rest of the staff - they wouldn't last 5 minutes in my company.
