In the East End of London, just a 10-minute walk from Upton Park London Underground (subway) Station, The Central offers free Wi-Fi and budget rooms above a Victorian public house. The Central is 0.7 miles from Upton Park London Underground (subway) Station and there are regular services to the heart of central London and all around the capital. Upton Park soccer stadium, home of West Ham United FC, is just a few hundred yards away and the O2 Arena is less than 3 miles from The Central. The only thing I liked about this dump was the exit door out of it. This lousy hole isn't even a hotel..it's a few dirty, smelly rooms above an old, rundown West Ham United supporter's pub. We paid a ridiculous price for a place that was advertised as a central London hotel, but it's way out in East Ham in a rubbish area,a 30 minute plus walk from nearest dlr tube station through dodgy streets. The wifi didn't work, neither did the old tv,the shower area is woeful and dirty, and the breakfast in the morning is as poor as they come, especially for the overpriced room rates. Worst of all is the lazy,'couldn't-give-a-toss' attitude of the manager and staff..truly pathetic. Avoid at all costs!

The best feature of the hotel is its location and communication (transport) facilities. Breakfast is quite satisfactory though modest. The superintendant could be more attentive to such questions as the state of electric bulbs and TV airals.

It was over a pub, which was very convenient for New Years. There is music playing until late (1am), but once again, that's to be expected from being over a pub. Good atmosphere though, small but clean room. Situated in cute Muslim / Cockney District. I was told it was a bad area but I had no problems whatsoever, made a lot of friends, and everyone was very nice. The owner and bartenders are really sweet and welcoming! The heater was confusing to use, though it may just be that I wasn't familiar with the system. Also, even though its called the Central, its a bit farther than I thought it'd be from the center of London.

The room had a surprisingly large fridge and a microwave. The Television was also a decent size. Nice artwork in the room also. There is only on-street parking available, and being in a very diverse area, I wasn't comfortable leaving my car down a side street. Forcing me to find a multi-story to leave my car in.

I was led to believe this was not far from the centre of London when in fact it was 11 miles outside & 40 minutes by tube or 75 minutes at least by bus. It was fairly basic & quite run down but not too bad for the price.

The only thing I liked was going home The "Hotel" was a joke, I have stayed in hostels that were of 10 times better quality. The o2 arena is 8 miles away not 3 miles as advertised. The locals were far from friendly and I got the feeling I was hated by all. Please nonody go to this hotel it will ruin your trip and experience of london. Also its a communal shower and toilet which was very dirty, only one staff member that cleans all the rooms. Overall I dont know how this place passes health and safety regulations. Stay away

The hotel is a warm friendly place above the pub. It is quite basic which obviously reflects in the price. It is a short walk from the underground station. It would have been nice to be able to hang my clothes up, my room had no wardrobe

The Central Hotel is an ideal place to stay if you are a West Ham Utd football fan.On match days it is a lively place only catering for home supporters. It offers good value for money with full breakfast included. No ensuite facilities.

Even we read the comments from others (not too positive), we decided to book this hotel because of the location and the price. It is true that the hotel is quite far away from the city center (approx.40 mins by tube) and the surrounding is not too nice but we got what we paid for.. We had very nice room, quite large as well ad enjoyed our stay as much as possible. The breakfast was good enough. The surrounding wasn't too nice, it looks little bit dangerous in the dark but even we were coming very late every day, we didnť face any issue or bad comments from the locals.

It's a nice, cheap place to stay. The staff is actually VERY nice, just take a moment to talk with them. This place ain't the Ritz and frankly they'd have a hard time getting one star. It's not in Piccadilly or Leicester Square, it's in a working-class neighborhood but it's safe and most people there are quite friendly and helpful. Can be a little loud on weekends. Not ideal for family or honeymoon. Otherwise is a pretty cool place.
