* Beautiful location with pleasant staff . * Breakfast excellent.
* The room was too hot despite radiator and towel rail switched off. * Very noisy waterfall so unable to cool room with window open. Bought ear plugs in Llangollen then window could be left open.
Gideon Bible in the room. Location facing Berwyn Station from balcony bedroom. Lovely dining area and several small lounges made the place feel homely. En suite in perfect condition. Ample covered balcony.
Small bedroom area. We are used to a king-sized bed and I tend to be rather restless, so my wife suffered a bit!
Food Bedroom Views Friendly staff
Hot water scalding hot No internet other than in reception No phone signal at all TV channels a problem all week
Location and scenery. Good dinner.
No hair dryer in room. Tiny bar of soap.
Location and common areas
Bedroom scruffy - bathroom modernised but not thought out properly. Shelf overhangs too small a sink. Tap loose. Two lights faulty in room. Lovely restaurant but ambiance missing scruffy menus and table decoration.
Great quirky location right on the river. Nice to have balcony and a view.
Location Food Pleasant Staff Wrexham Beer
1. Outdated interior 2. Creaky floorboards 3. Squeaky bed 4. Small & tight bathroom 5. Staff and management knew it was our peal 30th anniversary but there was no consideration or "the extra mile" taken to mark a special day for us. We will not be recommending this hotel to a couple who want to cherish their memories. Hey...couples out there go to Guoman Hotel instead by Towerbridge London!
The hotel & restaurant staff is very welcoming and kind. The building is in a wonderful position, neatly placed in the green between the river and the canal. The room was very large and sufficiently clean. The restaurant has a stunning view on the river, especially in the morning.
The ensuite bathroom is disappointing comparing to the room: very small, lighting is poor and no towel rails. The restaurant was a real disappointment, considering prices and the potential of the structure: the food was very plain, almost mediocre. Cleanliness is not their forte: the windows and curtains were dirty (which is a real pity considering that the river view should be the diamond point of the restaurant). Furnishing and decor very worn out and dusty, both in the restaurant and in the common spaces (corridors, etc.). A room on the riverbank is dreamy, but a stronger sound-proofing would improve the sleep quality.
Been here 5 times over the past 2 years. A lot of work and money had been put into this hotel. Improvements are of a very high standard and in keeping with the original features.
What could be better than looking across the river valley to the historic steam train pulling up at the picturesque station and the white-water rafters manoeuvring the rapids all from our own huge balcony? Then we stepped outside to see the horse-drawn canal boat on the canal right at the rear of the hotel. Amazing! Dinner and breakfast in the hotel restaurant was tasty and very nicely presented. Loved the wood panelling. The staff were always polite and pleasant and helpful with directions and sightseeing ideas. We loved the place - we were there for four nights- and would certainly recommend it.
A couple of plumbing issues, but nothing drastic.
The location was spectacular. Wish we had planned for a longer stay.
Long walk to room on top floor. No one to help with bags.
Location, location is everything, Sitting in the restaurant beside the River Dee, walking along the Canal, sitting behind a horsedrawn canal boat. Magic.
The hotel is obviously still in the process of upgrading, this shows in little things like the shower head broken in the bedroom. Given time I,m sure this hotel will be a superb venue.
view excellent and good food
wifi very bad
the parking area was a bit difficult
Location of the hotel. Balcony overlooking the river. Friendly staff. Excellent quality of food.
The hotel has (and is) undergoing refurbishment work. There were a few matters relating to the bedroom and bathroom which we reported to the staff.
- Location by gorge and canal - location near Llangollen - one room had fabulous balcony overlooking river - decent food & wine offer - interesting building
- Billing inaccurate and took 20 mins to sort out, then nothing but explanations about how their system went wrong - restaurant staff pleasant but not skilled
This was a short break to celebrate mum's 85th birthday. Family members came from various locations and received a warm welcome. The rooms were very clean and well equipped. The view of the river from the window was stunning and it was lovely to sit on the balcony over-looking the station and the steam trains. Breakfast was scrumptious. Evening meals were delicious with plenty of choice to cater for all tastes. I love watching the fish swim in the canal. Great place to stay for exploring the passes, mountains, Welsh towns, rivers and coast.
Wonderful to sit on the balcony over the gushing river below, beautiful dramatic scenery, very helpful staff and lovely clean room.
Leaving after only 1 night, will stay for longer next time.
Good value for money considering the beautiful location.Delighted to hear that the river footbridge is to be renovated with Lottery money support
Present state of footbridge. A few minor light issues with the bedroom
Setting was unique nestled between the river Dee and the canal. Rooms clean, bed comfy and views magnificent. Evening meal one of the best we have experienced at any hotel, we had lamb shank, mmmmmm. Breakfast cooked to order really good, piping hot. Waitresses very efficient and friendly.
A little hard to find, but well worth a visit.
Location excellent. walks straight from the hotel. Friendly and obliging staff.
Steep stairs. Parking a bit tight.
Great location, our room overlooked the river and we had a balcony
Disappointed with some the evening meals.
Friendly helpful staff Good facilities Comfy bed
Hotel looks a bit 'tired' - dated carpets, etc. Had one evening meal but would not rate as brilliant (and found better food and value in bistro in town) I had Sunday roast, and it seemed to be re-heated from lunchtime?
