The Chainbridge is sited in a unique spot between the spectacular Dee River, with it's racing white water and leaping salmon, and the Llangollen canal. The Chainbridge Hotel, is in one of the most picturesque places in Wales, in a valley of serene and natural beauty shielded by the Berwyn and Eglwysig mountains. Situated on the banks of the Dee River, about a 3 minute walk away are the Horseshoe Falls, the source of the famous Thomas Telford Shropshire Union Canal, which also runs alongside the Hotel. Across the river, steam trains pass every hour. The Restaurant offers romantic and magnificent panoramic views of the river. The Tudor Bar is situated in the original building and has black and white beams, with its Inglenook fireplace where you can also sit and watch the fishermen fish the river. Hotel Rooms: 30, Hotel Chain: Lloyds Hotel Group.

It was a very pleasant overnight stop. Breakfast was excellant, and the evening meal taken in the bar was also excellant. The walk to the Horse Shoe falls was wonderful, and we both enjoyed this immensley. The only problem, was access, there were pot holes in the entrance from the road, also loose gravel. Parking was also quite a problem, as there was very little room between the canal one side and the river Dee on the other. I was a bit nervous at travelling along the road, which only had room for one car at a time. We had to park on the canal side, and the door opened out over the canal. There was no curb or anything else to stop you going over the side.

The staff were lovely, friendly and the room we had was excellent. The hotel is well run yet could do with some minor decor restoration. Although this did not spoil our stay

Very close to Horseshoe falls - lovely walk along the canal tow path into Llangollen. Breakfast in the restaurant was very nice with beautiful view of the river. We had a room at the end of the hotel by an fire escape door. There was a mild smell of sewage at that end of the hotel as you came down the corridor. However this disappeared when you were in your room. The decor in the corridors was very dark and was torn in places - the wallpaper needs updating.

We initially booked for one night via the internet and had read some less than flattering reviews on trip advisor (which we have learnt to take with a grain of salt as it seems to be the outlet of people who live by the doctrine "every silver lining has a cloud"!) We ended up staying for two. We loved the down time, the old world feel of the Hotel and even though the room may have been less than salubrious it was spacious, clean, comfortable and great value for the money. Breakfast was good and service attentive. Even though the the Hotel is a bit isolated we liked that we could chose between eating in the restaurant or the bar and didn't have to track into town to find a budget meal. Only thing would be that we were confused by the signs to the Hotel car park. It seems to direct you to the top car park initially.

The view was fantastic Make sure you request a canal or river view as we were on second floor and basically looked onto wall! Tried to change but fully booked and told that you need to request at time of booking.

The View! I think you need to repaper the walls in the corridors and stairs, the paper is peeling off here and there.

Staff were excellent, really helpful and polite. Location was stunning. Bar Food very reasonably priced. Lovely hotel, which, with a little investment in appearance could be stunning. Rooms and corridors a little tired in decor. Bathroom light pull came off at first tug and tv wasnt working - receptionist had to come and fiddle to get it on.

Fantastic location, very friendly staff, good food, peaceful. Could do with a little updating, but on the whole good value for money. Room walls a little thin, could hear everything! From next door... Booked a double room and got a twin... No problems though

The staff were great very friendly indeed. The location of the hotel is exceptional sat on the river dee. The hotel it self needs quiet a bit of work done to it as it looks very tired and shabby, .the chainbridge it self is in a state of disrepair and seriouly needs some attention.

We had to move the first night to there sister hotel The Pheasant because the heating had gone off. We found the Pheasant a lovely hotel. We spent our second night at the Chain Bridge Hotel. It has a lovely location. The hotel is in a bit of need of decoration, but that didnt spoil the stay. We had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the River. I would highyly recomend a stay at this hotel, and would defo go back. The staff were very good and helfpul.

We visit Llangollen from time to time in our narrowboat and so we are familiar with the area. Last year between Christmas and New Year we stayed at another hotel in the same group - Bryn Howell - which was delightful, but this year we could not get a booking there for the same period. The Chainbridge Hotel has character and a pleasant atmosphere and the view from room 23 was fantastic. For comfort whilst watching the TV, however, we migrated to our son's twin room (No.14) which was newly refurbished and sported a large 3-seater settee. No lift, poor selection of TV channels, telephone not working in son's room, very creaky corridor floorboards, noticeable musty/damp smell in room 23, wi-fi system out of action, limited selection of bar food - size of portions mostly excessive

The hotel was well situated and only slightly off the beaten track, but with an excellent view across a narrowing torrent section of the River Dee. It was adjacent to a holiday style converted Station Master's House on line which is still used frequently by Steam driven Locomotives. The hotel staff were friendly and the whilst the evening meal a la carte menu was of exceptional standard, the lunch-time bar snacks were of a slightly lesser standard, overall, a good place to stay for a short break Only downside was a little cold in the bar area and the lunchtime food was poor.

Nice staff good food, loved the flood lit river. Must have been loverly in its day. All the TV's in the rooms had bad interferance unwatchable. No hot water in the morning but £10 off for this. Fire extinguisher outside my room was missing. At 6ft 2in beds were short in length. Unlit walk way to front door was positily dangerous.
