Very good,
Score from 225 reviews
The Chainbridge is sited in a unique spot between the spectacular Dee River, with it's racing white water and leaping salmon, and the Llangollen canal. The Chainbridge Hotel, is in one of the most picturesque places in Wales, in a valley of serene and natural beauty shielded by the Berwyn and Eglwysig mountains. Situated on the banks of the Dee River, about a 3 minute walk away are the Horseshoe Falls, the source of the famous Thomas Telford Shropshire Union Canal, which also runs alongside the Hotel. Across the river, steam trains pass every hour. The Restaurant offers romantic and magnificent panoramic views of the river. The Tudor Bar is situated in the original building and has black and white beams, with its Inglenook fireplace where you can also sit and watch the fishermen fish the river. Hotel Rooms: 30, Hotel Chain: Lloyds Hotel Group. Most recent booking for this hotel was at 12:58 from United Kingdom.

Very close to Horseshoe falls - lovely walk along the canal tow path into Llangollen. Breakfast in the restaurant was very nice with beautiful view of the river. We had a room at the end of the hotel by an fire escape door. There was a mild smell of sewage at that end of the hotel as you came down the corridor. However this disappeared when you were in your room. The decor in the corridors was very dark and was torn in places - the wallpaper needs updating.

Friendly staff. Accommodated secure storage for our bikes. Views are stunning. Hotel a little tired - exterior and interior decor could do with modernising. Shame about condition of chain bridge.

A perfect location and very accommodating and helpful staff. Food very good also. Very 'shabby' looking and in need of refurbishment, particularly exterior and corridors of the hotel. Worn carpets were of particular concern.

close to the canals which as well as the historic chain bridge is to be restored and used to convey passingers . i also liked the fact we were near the railway, for easy commuting, if we so wished. loved overlooking the river and the view was brilliant, calming and tranquil. With the added bonus of the Steam trains passing on our stay food was very nice as we had all our evening meals there. the Staff were helpful and the service overall was very good. Only one small fault - no teaspoons in rooms, but no major issue as i am sure i could of requested one at the desk if needed. overall I would definately use the Chainbridge again

Location of hotel was picturesque, having a balcony looking over the River Dee and the r station with the Steam trains passing through, was terrific. The food served in the Restaurant in such a beautiful setting was Perfect. My Hubby and I loved it Problems which we could see could cause a problem is limited parking close to hotel. We got a space. If you choose to walk to the station it is high metal steps x 64 to the road, and overflow car park. The hotel did not have a lift so 34 stairs to climb to our floor. Rapid River is quite noisy, however we loved it all, just a warning to those who are light sleepers, and hate flights of stairs.

Position by the river and canal and views from dining room and lounge Maintenance. On arrival 3 electric lights were not working. On the morning of our departure - bang and all the lights went out. After using the toilet realised that there was a back flow which ended in the bath. It is an old building needing complete overhall of electrical and water systems.

T he location was lovely, views over the river and Berwyn railway station with steam trains passing,we stayed for dinner and breakfast which were very good and the staff in the resteraunt pleasant. I was disapointed with the room we were allocated [two pairs of shoes from a previous guest left under the bed] the whole place felt neglected and in need of a good clean and renovation [the hall way carpet had a hole in it with no attempt to make it safe] the reception staff although not rude just uninterested [we have since learned the hotel is in the process of being sold] It is situated in a unique place and sad that it didnt live up to the write ups and brochures.

Extraordinary location on the River Dee, at a section of rapids. Our large and scenic balcony was almost over the rapids and was noisy outside but quiet within due to the double-glazed windows and door. The food from the pub was among the best we had in close to a month in Wales. The facilities were entirely adequate. The place (inside and out) is somewhat "tired". Along with a number of other local upscale hotels, with the same owner, it has recently been in bankruptcy. However we understand that a deal has been made for it and the new owner may make some investments to make it more attractive.

Great location on the river in Llangollen, enjoyed the balcony. Large varied breakfast included in room price. Interesting decor. Hairball on floor of bathroom. Bed was not so comfortable and room was a bit stuffy, so we had to keep the balcony door open at night.

The location of 'The Chainbridge Hotel' was amazing, Our room had a balcony overlooking the River Dee and the Railway. Breakfast buffet style and very nice, with a good choice of food.served in the restaurant also overlooking the River, The staff were very helpful and friendly, The hotel does look a bit tired and worn, the bedrooms could do with a refurbishment, but as the hotel is in administration, it is understandable. We will definately return.

The staff were very friendly and always smiling. The rooms were comfortable and the location could not have been better as there was such a lot to do in the area, some of it even within walking distance of the Hotel. The hotel was in need of a little TLC but it did not detract from the stay ,in fact it was part of its charm. The view of the river from the Hotel was wonderful, especially from the dining room at night when it was floodlit. I would certainly consider staying there again. It could do with clearer signposting on how to get to the main car park area.

The view over the river from our room, the dining and bar area was amazing the steam train was also visable from these areas. Staff were friendly rooms were clean. Menu was very limited for the price would have expected more variety or perhaps a la carte we ate in the restaurant perhaps the bar meal would have been better value. The decor is mostly very dated however our room had been revamped and the hotel was clean.

It's unique location, this place has the potential to be a gold mine . It is run down and dirty the outside, on the towpath just past the reception entrance where the kitchens are the area is filthy with bins and cages of rubbish also there was a Hotel minibus abandonded in the carpark which was full of black sacks of rubbish not the prettiest sight to be met with.Sadly the Hotel is generally run down and in desperate need of a refurb. (including the bridge that gives it it's name). We were aware of the fact that the Hotel is in administration and in need of a buyer but it would be a shame if this Hotel was allowed to decay or close.

The location is fantastic. The staff very nice. The hotel is in a sad state and needs renovation. It has a unique position that makes it a special place. The staff are helpfulland professional. I would love to see an investment in the hotels future. I rwad that the decor was tired and that is fair. The tv did not work with only two channels available. The restraurant was nice and the food was reasonable. Its a place to goto fir the sights.

Fantastic view of the river, when the bridge lights up if a night, standing in the outside balcony with the stars above and raging river below an experience that's second to none, I will definatly be back my favourite hotel of all time x The cleanliness of the room was pretty poor, cobwebs and dust in wardrobes and extra fan clogged up in the bathroom but overall fantastic hotel, any problems staff react and rectify straight away :-)
