Good quiet location Comfy bed Good breakfast Parking
Noisy guests Thin walls
Nothing springs to mind
Food staff were both superb
Hallway and room were very hot
Have stayed here before staff, food and service are excellent.
When I booked I was not made aware that the resturant was closed on the one night of my stay.
Receptioness excellent assistance throughout
Selected this hotel because it had its own restaurant. After checking in, we were told it was closed on that night 'because of an inspection'. Because of difficult location, this forced us to take two taxi rides and settle for a lesser grade restaurant
Nice character building Good breakfast, well cooked Privately Owned
Plumbing was bad, shower rubbish No responsibility taken on check-out Bad value for money, bar prices crazy Not buffet breakfast
We stayed at the hotel overnight because we were going to a dinner there. Our room was light, modern and comfortable and there was a good supply of toiletries, coffee etc. The party itself (for about 150 guests having dinner) was very well managed and the food was excellent. We enjoyed our pre-dnner walk up the road to the race course on Epsom Downs (suggested by the helpful person on the reception desk).
The outside areas of the hotel are rather shady in the afternoon.
Quiet, peaceful location Friendly, helpful staff Excellent food High standard public rooms downstairs
Difficult to access due to one way system and no directions on website Bedroom and en suite bathroom of lower standard than public rooms No hot water in bathroom Horrid sweetened orange juice at breakfast Room rate too high for average quality room Many of these points made by previous reviewers yet management have taken no action on them
The service on check-in was exceptional. The room was delightful with a lovely shower, T&C making facilities, nice linens, iron balcony overlooking the beautiful garden area. Breakfast was well presented and several options available.
Paper thin walls and doors - I could hear everything in the hallway and had to leave my room on a couple of occasions beyond 10.30pm to ask if people could talk a little more quietly.
Wine and food were extremely good and well presented. Breakfast was high quality - proper preserves not sachets of over-sweet mass -produced jelly. Service was attentive.
Too many silk flower arrangements - one very good display of fresh flowers in reception would have been better.
Cosy comfy room
Shower very poor
Lovely welcome from staff on arrival, very quiet location, food superb.
Hotel a bit 'tired', could do with some investment.
Excellent friendly staff on reception and in restaurant. Superb cuisine and wine. An unexpected find and pleasure.
Character, tasteful, excellent breakfast, and fabulous service. 2nd stay. We will be back.
Location, room cleanliness. Would certainly stay again
Our room 2 was lovely, but a 4 poster wooden bed would not be ideal for a wedding night!!
Lovely old style hotel in a quiet and relaxing location. Extremely helpful, friendly staff. Rooms clean and tidy, even the single has a double bed and a large nicely decorated toilet/shower room.
Less than 10 minutes walk up a quiet road took us to the racecourse which was the purpose of our visit. Staff friendly - beautiful family room , great breakfast. Close to Station. Would definitely visit again.
Everything, staff very friendly, loved the atmosphere of the whole hotel.
Only one night, wish it was a bit longer.
Lovely decor; great location
Very friendly, quiet hotel. Good restaurant.
Toilet not clean on arrival. Hair on cups on tea tray.
Room 19 was a small double and probably not worth the full £118 paid, to start with. This room should be cheaper than the others. It was small, had single glazed, old style, windows that were filthy. There is a second door leading to the fire escape in the corner which is a bit worrying. There was a layer of dust on most things. The room probably suffers from the cold in winter and had the feeling of damp or mustyness even though the day was hot & dry. The shower head fell off whilst my partner was showering, she left at 06:00 to go to work, but had to go home first to get showered. The shower head was repaired whilst I had breakfast, so that I could shower. Even so, it was still a pretty shabby shower. The lighting system is strange with a strong red light glowing by the door (Necessary if you need to use the bathroom during the hours of darkness), and a flickering green light on the telephone, both conspiring to keep you awake. All in all, not comfortable, not clean and certainly not value for money.
Room was cosy and comfortable
Lovely character hotel Good location for Epsom and Downs
Room superb. Big light and airy
Breakfast was on dry side for me, could do with baked beans, Several medium sized spiders in room, think due to open windows.
Friendly helpful staff. Excellent quality and range of food. Quiet country feel location yet can walk into Epsom or car access lots of venues.
Wi-fi connection did not work well and needed separate pass for each device.
