Great value B&B with excellent location 5 mins walk to Ayr town centre, railway station etc. Graeme & Ann were great hosts and room was very clean & comfortable. We will definitely be returning again for another stay!
perfect location, friendly staff, every day cleaning
Lovely place to stay. We were travelling down to Leeds and staying in Ayre was a good decision. Chalmers ticked all the boxes for us. I would recommend this B and B for good value for money. B Keeton, Leeds
Due to traffic problem we were late arriving at the hotel. The owners were very understanding and had waited for our arrival. ( Remember to take the hotels tel number with you so you can give them a call if things change). Room was a good size, clean with tea/coffee included and a nice comfortable bed. Owner provided useful information regarding restaurants as we headed out for the evening A 10 minute walk to the beach and 5 minutes to town. Nice breakfast in the morning.
The B B was very good , The Propiters were very helpfull
Disappointed that we did not Breakfast ,As the kitchen was having work ,carry out. I am sorry that the did not get a offer of money back for breakfast .
I and my Mum were travelling on a Scotland trip, with Ayr being the last stop. I had selected Chalmers while making my booking for the good reviews it had comparative to the price. When we reached, I was in for a pleasant surprise. Mine was a small double with a private but external bathroom, but we were offered the option of changing to slightly bigger twin, with a private bathroom (also bigger). The entrance to the room had an area, which was private as well and could be used if required; it was helpful for the 2 of us and for packing our luggage. Although I must add the small double was actually nice and was located at the front of the building. The house is a traditional Scottish home, with modern comforts and Graeme and Ann played the perfect hosts, beginning from the simple but nicely done room, to the help they provide with getting around the city. We even called them up when lost, for the Wi-Fi password, for a bottle opener and they were happy to help even when on a family dinner. It is literally a 5 minute walk from the railway station and city centre markets, 10 minutes from the beach and you can get buses to other local attractions. Do check the bus details if you want to go around. Tea/Coffee making facility is provided for in the room itself, Wi-Fi is free, the room and bathroom is very clean, with basic but good quality hand wash and shower gel. There are thankfully enough mirrors in the room and bathroom, so you are never fighting over one, when in a hurry! :D What's more, as a courtesy, Graeme also offered to drive us to the railway station (which is quite close and we were going to book a cab only because we had shopped quite a bit) himself!
The only one negative I can think of is that the television is a little oddly placed atop the wardrobe (due to the fact that placing it on a table in the room, would simply cramp up the space) so you need to be able to operate the remote at a specific angle, from a specific spot on the bed. But once done you can sink into the comfortable beds and relax. However, when on a trip you really can ignore that bit, especially because, the owners fuss around about whether or not you seem a little not-happy about the rooms and make sure that everything is to your liking, as much as possible.
Very obliging and helpful, would certainly stay there again.
BREAKFAST WAS EXCELLANT WITH A GREAT CHOICE I WOULD RECOMMEND FRIENDS TO STAY AT THIS B & B
THERE WAS NOTHING FOR US NOT TO LIKE
The welcome was friendly and informative with being given a good layout of the town. The room was a nice size and the en-suite was small but effective
Could do with a little more surface space
The host was very helpful and knowledge about the local area and made us feel at home. It's in an excellent location close to the town, the sea and Alloway attractions. We'd definitely return if we came back to Ayr in the future. Room had lots of natural light and was cosy.
The room was very comfortable. The manager was excellent and provided valuable advice on local tourist attractions. The breakfast was great.
Ver clean, staff friendly and happy to meets your needs.
WiFi didn't reach the room, kept loosing signal
Breakfast flexibility was much appreciated as was the upgrade to ensuite, thanks!
Couldn't find anything about it ,for by the bed and shower
No breakfast provided,for229pounds,3nights.The room was very dated mismatched covers on beds, one chair, one teaspoon, tear on pillowcase poor heating, old wooden windows,of which only one opened the rest were painted and couldn't open,no WiFi as stated, spoke to the owner ,didn't seem to bothered about it,his reply was"its a solid house:???we weren't alone in having trouble connecting,a young couple in another room also had trouble, would not recommend it to anyone,it spoiled our weekend away, although we didn't eat,the dining area ,it was cheap and nasty, plastic table covers and three small tables, couldn't wait to come home.
