it was simple. the view. it wasn't as expensive as a hotel. self catering. closeness to the centre.
mattress wasn't comfortable. the other rooms had good ones ours was terrible. teenage boys up stairs playing football every night in the hall way above and shouting, playing music and drinking games till 5am.
Location locaton location. Just amazing.
Bed was terrible and especially the matress. Iam not sure who can sleep there for a year.
Great location and perfect for a group of friends. No frills, just basic accommodation. Suitable for a festival stay as you are mostly out & about!
The matress was so uncomfortable I ended up with a severe pain in my hip. Alos the show tray was blocked for 3 days before anyone attended to fix it.
Friendly staff, well located, comfortable.
Rooms a bit 'compact'.
Double beds are quiet small
The accommodation was in a good location, within easy walking distance local attractions. Staff sorted out any problems immediately.
Bed on the small side for two people. TV in the lounge would have been an advantage for the children.
Near the city centre and park...nice place to stay..
Lovely accommodation, ideal location.
Had problems with swipe keys not working sometimes unable to get in.
I liked location and room.
I didn't like the block's key. it was terrible. When I went to the reception in the morning, I couldn't open the door. And I was locked in the garden. My flight was early. I didn't see anyone. I need to call security.
Excellent value for money during the fringe - and a perfect location. Lovely new halls so everything felt fresh and clean. Very nice duvets and very lovely staff.
The key cards were a bit of a nightmare - they kept not working. They were sorted out really quickly and efficiently by the staff when they were on duty but we were never completely sure if we'd be able to get back in. I slept like a log but friends said they could hear lots of noise from the flat above.
secure, clean, well located, great kitchen/sitting area, very pleasant staff. why would anyone chose a hotel when there are places like this?
absolutely terrible mattress in some of the rooms and the reason for the 'fair' comfort rating
Very comfortable, great bedroom and bed with ensuite which was all very clean with great shower. Good kitchen facilities where we cooked a couple of meals and breakfast every morning. Great location close to the centre.
Ensuite in "hostel" uni halls and the staff were accommodating.
Slightly lumpy bed fixed by sleeping on another duvet!
Location. Comfy. Inside was very clean. Quiet.
On check-in the registration form could not be read as the printer was out of ink..not a positive way to start. Outside of the building is grungy. Bathroom smelled like urine.
It was convenient for The Fringe Underbelly area and easy walking distance to The Grass Market. It was a little bit further to Princes St, George St etc, but not that far. It was very good value compared with other accommodation during August in Edinburgh.
The beds were supposed to sleep two people. As they were three quarter beds, it would be fine if you were going with your husband, but too small to share with a friend. We had to get an extra camp bed and put it in the living area. The bathrooms and bedrooms were clean, but the sofa in the living area was badly stained and needed a good shampoo.
Clean and new, very close to the fringe activities.
Very modern accommodation. Location: city centre and Sainsbury's are very close. Kitchen is fully equipped. Bathroom is clean.
Shower is fixed on the wall. The magnetic key card is required to visit and use the bathroom.
Good location, quiet location
Price is hugely higher than last year and the facilities haven't improved - pretty disappointing value for money. They don't tell you there is a charge for using credit cards, and baulk when cash is provided (no change!!). Obviously out to skin every penny out of clients.
Whole apartment was good enough
Exhaust fans in the toilets were not working
the amazing view from the kitchen-lounge, the location, the park
the heavy fire doors slamming, the musty smell in the plane- like lavatory, with no windows or fan. the beds are not double, but a very small queen size.
Close enough to city centre but quiet location. Having a flat with 3 bedrooms and separate kitchen/dining/lounge area worked well for group of friends. Car parking available close by. Reasonably priced for Edinburgh during the Festival.
Spartan. Not enough crockery etc. Not enough towels provided. Our requests for further towels/pillows took ages to be fullfilled. The staff running the reception did not seem to know where anything was. This is fine if you are running student accommodation, if you are providing accommodation for paying guests you need to be more aware of your customers needs. This was not cheap, cheap. Double beds were very small and not the most comfortable.
Firstly, we were welcomed by a staff member, a young gentleman, who was absolutely fantastic. He offered us a coffee, whilst we were waiting to check in. He was very attentive, very well-mannered and the epitome of what good host should be. He made us feel really welcome. That was enough to indicate that our stay would be fine. He shows us around our apartment, which was clean, larger than I imagined and 'good to go'. It was ideal for our needs and I wouldn't hesitate in the future to stay in such accommodation when travelling with a group....in fact it would be my first choice.
I really can't think of anything. We checked out an hour later than we should have and it wasn't a problem to the receptionist.
View over meadows. Location.
Location, simple but totally adequate dorm rooms, friendly staff
Being near meadows and royal mile.
Having to use keycard to go to toilet. Flashing red light above bed. No colour. No windows or fan in bathroom.
