Staff were friendly and helpful Variety of treatments were brilliant Food was fantastic Rooms were clean and comfortable Excellent stay Good value for money
Buildings and décor were a little tired looking although we were informed that there is a huge renovation taking place during November.
Staff were excellent and the setting was fabulous
I was very pleased with everything
Possibly the food for the buffet lunch could have been more imaginative I remember when I went often years ago, under the old regime the buffet was fantastic.
Needed to stay locally for a wedding, only place available. The sauna and steam room proved a welcome bonus for the morning. Very comfy bed.
Arrived and checked in at about 2:30am. The night watchmen didn't have a clue about the booking, put me in available room and all was cleared up in the morning. Maybe check they have your booking during office hours!
Adored the setting
The price of treatments
Lovely spa and lovely location.
There was no bar so you couldn't have a drink in the evening without having dinner there, which was very civilised- I am sure it would have been nice but it didn't make that very clear on the website.
Location was amazing. Great walks and activities. Local pubs and eateries!!!
Young and inexperienced staff! They just didn't get it! Painful so resorted.to blatantly having to.say.what.the issue was until the penny dropped! Eg. Don't send me to the gym for info when the desk is closed at the gym! Or, when i booked with a double bed and find two singles, don't just say we will push them together! Little things Champneys!
Location was good
No booking on arrival, given 2 single beds when booking eventually confirmed even though it was a anniversary break!! Half used bottles of water in room.
Location was truly beautiful and so tranquil
Breakfast restaurant - apart from being given a breakfast "shot" and asked if I wanted tea or coffee I was not asked if I wanted to select anything from the menu. Eventually I asked a member of staff for eggs which then arrived fairly promptly. Felt a little abandoned! Décor is a little tired. Lounge area chairs not particularly comfortable.
The hotel itself was really nice, very decent facilities.
Realised I'd left some money in an envelope in a draw after check-out, and rang to let them know to get someone to get it from the room, so I could collect it later that day. Rang around lunchtime (which was plenty of time considering check-in is listed as from 5pm), and was informed they would get the cleaners to check, and let me know that afternoon. Didn't hear back, so called around 5pm, and was informed that the cleaners hadn't come back to them, and there was now someone in the room so they couldn't check. Really frustrating considering I'd rang several hours before, and they still checked someone into the room before it was checked.
Good size rooms and very helpful staff.
Noisy workmen waking me up at 7am two mornings running!
There was accommodation available when I needed a room. I had spent a weekend at Forest Mere some years ago and as that was a very pleasant experience I decided to take advantage of the offer on line.
The first room I was given was not ready for occupancy, the beds were made but very rumpled, used towels and gowns were strewn all over the bedroom area. The reception staff promptly moved me to another room with profuse apologies and gave my a complimentary bowl of fruit as I was too late for the resturant. What I saw of the communal areas seemed as I remembered but the bedrooms was tired and sad, it was a relief not to have paid the full quoted price.
Outdoor swimming pool and outdoor relaxation areas.
No cooked English breakfast included in the cost of our stay. Wrong stay details when we checked in, then told it had been sorted out, then still had it wrong again the following day when the room key expired.
Got a good deal for one night and location was good. wifi good. Excellent spa facilities and staff.
Rooms are a little tired and poorly sound insulated. Healthy meals are excellent but small. No bar, but wine is available with the meal, so remember to order one for the lounge, as it is not available otherwise.
If you get the chance to go. Don't think about it. Just take the plunge. I will be talking about my stay here for years..
No availability of treatments
Not very much
No bar to relax in, no beer or cider only wine. Virtually everyone was in housecoats all the time. We were travelling home and this was a stop over
Just couldn't get used to people sitting in the restaurant at breakfast in the white towelling robes from their rooms. Some had obviously got straight out of bed without even brushing their hair or having had a shower! Not an enjoyable experience I'm afraid.
The size & layout of the room tea coffee in room comfy bed.
nothing - it was an awful experience
the food is excellent.
The lack of security around your name, address, credit card details, etc, which is kept on 1 piece of paper and just left on the desk for all to see, the fact that you cannot use the spa facilities until after 5pm as a hotel guest, the fact that hotel guests are forced into the main restaurant and not allowed into the terrace restaurant. The fact that most of the spa rooms are in the changing rooms so you CANNOT share the experience with your wife or husband unless you are a same sex partnership or with same sex friends. The fact that this property can't decide if it is a SPA or a hotel.
Terrible customer service and not at all welcoming. The facilities were poor and our room was unclean and not of the standard that I would expect from Champneys. I would not recommend Champneys. I was extremely disappointed.
The view and the size of the room
The double bed was just two singles pushed together. We also weren't told when/ where breakfast was, even though it was included in our rate.
The staff were rude, unhelpful and snooty. Waited at the reception desk for 20 minutes which was unmanned..twice! Staff in restuarant were better then staff in arrivals and depature desks.
