Nice relaxing atmosphere
No alcoholic beverages apart from wine in restaurant.
Cleanliness of the room very poor. Fingernail on floor, cobweb hanging from dressing table and coffee splashed up the wall. Main course at dinner very slow. Was offered dessert menu before we had main course! Was disappointed with room and service at such a prestigious hotel.
not being a fan of spas I expected regimental settings. it was very casual, very relaxing and I felt chilled and spolit even withiut the treaments as I was there to use as hotel only as went to Tring area to see relatives, and hunt the area for a home.Food esp breakfast was outstanding. the male staff and cleaners were fabulous. as were the spa staff and a few of th front of house.I will return, and this time for a goddess day of pampering.
on arrival the que to check is a bit off putting.not many seats and found myself stanfding for 30 mins while clientale were checked in and pampered. on leaving and paying the bill. it was a complicated matter that bookings.com apparanlty booked us 2 rooms instead of one and we were charged for this and a 2 breakfast we didn't have. or order. I found the receptionist had the air that she didn;t wuite belive this.....whicj spoilt the stay somewhat... all in all fabulosa though.
The room was nice and the setting.
Facilities in the spa were nothing special. Everything very expensive
Access to spa and pools.
Two single beds pushed together and late check in times along with early check out times.
The personal touch of the staff and initiative to make sure I was comfortable and happy
I had a fantastic facial treatment and felt very relaxed but did not like that the sales pitch for the products was discussed just as I was 'waking up from' the treatment. I would have appreciated silence or a much lower volume of talk. It felt like the good relaxation from the facial got un done because she needed to sell a product.
Super location beautiful building facilities outstanding quiet and relaxing
No bar for the grown ups restaurant closing too early
The clientele made I look like there were auditions going on for Cocoon!
The space in the room and the meals and the gardens.
The cleaness of the bathroom in my room. The toilet bush also was dirty.
Quiet at night, good sleep and some helpful staff- especially blonde lady in shop by the swimming pool.
Having to walk a marathon to my room. Hairs in the bathroom. No inclusive breakfast. Not asked how my stay was.
Only stayed 1 night, but not my Spa choice as to impersonal.
the size and comfort and cleanliness of the room long length of swimming pool good gym equipment staff were very helpful
jacuzzis were not very hot
We enjoyed our stay, the room was clean and comfortable, the staff were helpful and the surroundings were beautiful.
The facilities were average as were the changing rooms, I have stayed in many hotels with equally nice facilities that don't market themselves as spa hotels. The steam room/sauna and jacuzzi were fairly small, the cold shower wasn't working and the showers in the changing rooms were run down with very low water pressure. When I booked, I was led to believe the stay would usually have cost £300. I was happy enough with the facilities as we got a good deal through booking.com but had I paid full price I would have been very disappointed. In addition to this, I had tried to book some treatments in and had rung three times, twice I had been on hold for between 5-10 minutes so had hung up and on one occasions I got through to someone who couldn't help me and put me through to someone else but actually I just ended up on hold again so I waited 5 minutes and then left a message asking for a call back but I didn't receive one. 10 days later we stayed at the hotel and had an enjoyable time but I had given up on trying to book a treatment by then!
Breakfast very limited
Beautiful grounds. Flowers etc lovely. Wonderful beds. Some of the staff were very polite and friendly. Very peaceful on the whole. Some excellent classes. Incredible swimming pool. Nice atmosphere in restaurant. Excellent dinner and breakfast.
Odd not to have proper sauna and steam room with the 'real' big pool, would have expected better spa type facilities. Rather brusque attitude of one of the class instructors. Rooms not as luxurious as expected and staircases etc rather shabby given the impressive outer building. Changing rooms crammed and ran out of towels / not replaced quickly. Some very sharp food at lunch. Gym cramped for mat work in particular.

Bedroom had cracked Basin in Bathroom. Bedroom Doors needed Soft Closers as each time a door shut nearby the walls shook. Bathroom needed ReGrouting as Bath seals were Mouldy and Damp on Bath Panel. Sticky Gel and Hair covered Hairdryer? Rodent trap clearly visible under wardrobe Not enough Wardrobe space for a double room. Check in chaotic and no explanation of facilities given. Cycle Hire in Fitness Suite is a joke. No Helmets were offered despite being ticked on booking form. No maps of local area with suggested routes. Bikes were NOT checked before being handed over. I filled in Questionnaire on site but Champneys have not responded.... This place NEEDS some leadership.
I always enjoy the friendly atmosphere and every guests personal requirements an important part for all the staff being achieved whilst the quality of your stay remains first class.
Staff was very helpful. Everything was clean and beautiful. Sports facilities excellent
Bed was comfortable
Reception staff struggling to deal with a complaining guest, whilst I was trying to checkin. Room where the wallpaper wss coming away from the wall. Mould on the bathroom sealing.
Lovely refurbished rooms, good leisure facilities and lovely grounds.
No bar, but it is a health resort first and a hotel second I suppose.
We stayed 4 nights. I had seen some very poor reviews so I wasn't sure what to expect. It was wonderful. We had booked a standard room but were upgraded to a beautiful room in the mansion house. The food was great, beautiful gardens and great treatments.
A very welcoming spa hotel. Hotel and grounds were wonderful. Plenty to do if you wanted, if not there were many comfortable areas to relax in. Food was very good, lots of choice. Will definitely return.
Loved the facilities. Swimming pool lovely, clean and warm. Breakfast excellent.
Bedroom door were imposible to close without banging, (started at 5.30 am). Cannot flush W.C. without having to touch lid to reach flush. Grounds near building great but further away seemed to be left to weeds and tipping.
The peace and tranquility of the whole experience. A perfect place to relax and enjoy a break. Staffing quality and presentation absolutely excellent. The evening meal perfectly cooked and presented.
