This beautifully converted 15th Century Tudor house is on the grounds of Channels Golf Club, with its challenging 27 holes. The hotel is surrounded by over 300 acres of quiet, peaceful parkland. Channels Lodge has individually designed rooms with private bathrooms. They combine original features such as exposed wooden beams with modern comforts such as TVs, DVD players and free Wi-Fi. All rooms come with a mini-bar, confectionery and tea/coffee making facilities, as well as soft luxurious comforters, bathrobes and slippers. Channels Restaurant is renowned for its excellent food and friendly service, and is in the adjoining golf club. Guests receive free passes for the nearby Cannons Gym, which features a swimming pool and fitness center. Channels Lodge is close to highway A12, just 2 miles from Chelmsford. Very friendly staff and very good facilities. The bedroom I had (Chestnut) was very spacious and the Bathroom was excellent. Just don't forget to remind reception to forward the phones!!!

Had a wonderful stay. The staff are so helpful and friendly. Location is very pretty, relaxing and quiet. Rooms are lovely and quite spacious. Food is good. Would come back here for sure if I need to be in this area again.

The building was full of character and set in gorgeous surroundings. It is set away from the road and at night you could hear a pin drop which is what I wanted, a peacefull luxury weekend break for me and my other half. The room was well furnished with a large comfortable bed. The walk in changing room was a nice touch and the bathroom was superb with large walk in shower and free standing bath. The food served in the golf lodge was very good quality and the included breakfast covered most tastes, I had a full english while my better half had salmon on scrambled eggs. I really can recommend this hotel and it deffinately lives up to it's high rating. We even got free passes to the local gym and health suite with a nice pool, sauna and steam room.

Beautiful room, large, comfy, excellent bathroom and amenities generally. Things like robes, slippers, proper hair dryer were all nice touches. Plus the toiletries were a really good quality. There's not a huge amount of atmosphere in the restaurant diene to it being a golf club and not really any foot traffic from the public to make for a buzzy environment. Having said that the food quality and portions are good with the overall meal Einstein good value for money. Breakfast the next day was also very good quality and included in the price of the room gave good value. Lovely setting, would highly recommend.

Peaceful country location / bonus of sports facilities + dining options closeby. Rooms very nicely decorated with a high level of finish. Staff really friendly. Rustic charm with a contemporary feel !

All the Lodge personnel were very friendly and made me feel very comfortable even though I was a solo traveller. The room I stayed in (Elm) was luxurious and catered for everything I needed. The breakfast room is beautifully located as it overlook the gold course. This is the 2nd time I have stayed at Channels Lodge and I would certainly stay there again and recommend it to my friends and family. Julie d from Redlynch

Excellent hotel. Clean, tidy, comfortable and a reasonable price. Food was excellent, dinner and breakfast. Would recommend to anyone.. My only suggestion would be to have clearer signs to where the Rooms, Restuarant and Parking.

The location of Channels surrounded by the Golf Course was exceptionally quiet. The menu in the Club House was good and the bar staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stop there on my next trip to Chelmsford.

Lovely large bed room and room with snacks and fresh milk available in the fridge. Room location away from the main function rooms was good. Room furnishing s were clean modern and attractive with fluffy cotton bathrobes in two sizes. My husband is 6' 3'' and was delighted to find that one robe fitted him.

ive been to channels many times for golf not realising they had rooms next door and although it was V festival weekend most other hotels had bumped their prices up but not here. I stayed in the holly room and i was expecting a single as booked but it turned out to be a massive bed and the room was absolutely lovely,couldnt fault it. If i have to stay in the Chelmsford area again i will use here especially as they are about same price as travellodge and premier inn in the area but there is no comparison absolutely nothing i couldnt fault it was very impressed

Loved the rooms and the staff were generally excellent (one grumpy barman aside!). Food (breakfast) was excellent - couldn't fault it. No ability to have any kind of room service - this would elevate the hotel so swiftly to the next level (even if it was only a limited service). Also, an early start for breakfast during the week would be useful for business travellers - 7.30 is too late really, if you want to be in work for 8am.

The care of staff was good, the room was luxury itself, it was a great shame that it was just for one night; and the golf club resturant offered excellent food, at a reasonable price. All of this set in peaceful and tranquil countryside not far from Chelmsford.
