Location, Value, Staff, everything was good, thanks for a nice stay.
Can't fault it for value
The staff at Channings were excellent. They were very helpful and welcoming. There was a great range of food which was very tasty. The room was clean and modern and very comfortable, with a large modern bathroom.
Parking was a big difficult as there was only one street parking.
Comfortable bed and pillow, descent bathroom. Generally an OK stay
Slow check in, bit expensive for what you get
Room was nice and clean. Quiet location. Staff were very helpful and polite. The food in the night was lovely and good value for money. We would stay here again because the food was great, room was clean and staff were nice but it would be better if it wasn't so hot in the room. There was a bus stop outside the hotel so it was easy for us to get on a bus and go into the city.
In the night the room was very hot and we were unable to turn the radiators off. The hotel had no parking facilities and so it was awkward to park the car even though we managed to get a parking space on the street by the hotel. If we hadn't found find that parking space we don't really know where we could have parked. We booked through booking.com and it cost £120.00 room only a night and it didn't include breakfast. If we wanted breakfast it would have cost £7.95 per adult which we thought was a bit expensive on top of the room price.
Great location, bar & good variety of pub food on the menu. Staff were friendly and helpful.
The 3 adult room was a double room with a 'pop-up' bed with only 2 cups / glasses not 3. No phone to contact reception on the 2nd floor up.
Beautiful old hotel from the outside
Smelt like paint No hot water at all!
Friendly helpful staff, good atmosphere; lively downstairs so we had a pleasant evening 'in' and kids happy upstairs using the free Wifi
The staff were friendly and the room was very comfortable. Very good value for money and the location was perfect for me
A bit disappointed with breakfast it was all there but served cold On site parking would have been useful, after a long drive I had to drive around for quite some time to find somewhere to park (lots of restrictions)
Staff were really friendly and helpful.bed was comfy.good position for the hippodrome and town centre.
Toilet was dirty, sanitary bin wasnt emptied.light bulbs missing.coffee machine broke downstairs.
fab location, nice food comfy beds.
the hotel is quite squeaky, noisy floors and doors,
The staff were welcoming and friendly. The shower was hot and there was shampoo and shower gel available. The towels were clean and big. The guest house was in an excellent location. The beer garden looked nice although it was raining while we were there. The garden furniture looked new.
Breakfast - I wished I hadn't chosen the bacon and scrambled egg! The egg tasted a little strange - perhaps it was dried egg. The toast was burnt on one side - not the side that was showing. I didn't complain as I just wanted to get out and I didn't want a replacement unless I cooked it myself. Our bedroom was close to some extractor fans or something similar and they went on and off all night which kept us awake. The decor in our room and generally throughout the guest house was dull, tired and damaged in places.
The pub was nice, and they have us a good breakfast. Staff were friendly.
Can't complain too much for the price, but the room was not clean and lots of things were broken (the door, light fitting, light in loo, shower, loo roll holder). Windows were old and dirty - they didn't keep any sound out and there was a breeze even when they were closed.
Loved the garden, the size and coolness of rooms where one could open the windows and a good reasonably spacious bathroom
No twin beds, rather tired fittings and decor generally in need of repair. Staff were very casual and generally matched the decor,ie tired and in need of a boost!
Fairly quiet location, nearby center of Bristol City. Close to public transport and easy to get to anywhere in Bristol, with the M4/M5 Motorways a few miles away. Good pub with pub food downstairs, although we did not eat here.
When we came back around midnight, the building was in almost total darkness as the Pub had closed for the night and everyone had gone home.
Staff were really obliging and gave me early access to my room for my convenience with no question. Polite and friendly .They upgraded my room with no extra charge.
The room was rather hot as it was extremely hot weather and no through draught, but it was nobody's fault. Also noisy from road as windows needed to be open.
Bristol hotels are ridiculously expensive, so Channings was reasonable and in a very nice location. The building is lovely too. Breakfast was generous, with a couple of vegetarian options and the staff were all very cheerful.
The decor was tired--which wasn't a problem; I wasn't there to stare at the walls--but there were quite large cobwebs in my room across the window and over the bed. The shower didn't drain too well (although there was plenty of lovely hot water); there was a big bright pink lipstick stain on one of the towels (again, there were plenty of towels so it wasn't a problem but it could have been avoided so easily), and the wifi signal was so weak I had to sit in the hall to get a signal. My room (top floor) was stifling hot (again, hottest day of the year so far so not typical), though an OK size, and looked directly on to a very nice but very noisy beer garden. With a different room on a lower floor then three of these problems could have been avoided. Mattress wasn't great but it wasn't bad. If you're looking for cheap and basic then Channings is fine, especially if you're not on the top floor.
The room was lovely, spacious and characterful in a turret.Staff were very friendly and helpful.Easy on road parking. It is a really good location for Bristol especially Clifton.
Quite a few stairs to climb but not really a problem.
Easy access to shopping areas, restaurants, etc. Comfortable rooms.
Nothing comes to mind
Cleanliness of room was poor.
Decent location , nice breakfast , great shower ,deep old fashioned enamel bath
No parking , a bit worn around the edges. Bar shuts at 11pm , bed old and too soft
Amazing service Wondeful room
The signal of the wifi is poor
food excellent, bar prices good, nice beer garden.
no parking on site, no lift.
Good value Hotel close to Bristol University and restaurants. Nice bar and patio area.
No hairdryer in room.
